Act 1; Part 2
"For a long time my subconscious rested in a dark place, ticking through memories like a jukebox..."
--------------------------------------
As he gazed upon the face of the girl who lay in a tranquil sleep. It made him wonder why as gentle as you looked, made him feel so conflicted. He should be angry, disgusted, and so many more negative emotions; and he was so. But he couldn't help but feel a flutter of emotions, happiness, infatuation, and most noting to him peace.
He berated himself, even slapping himself on the cheek slightly as if that would wake him up. He needed to wake up from whatever livid thoughts were invading his mind.
Ophelia was dead.
Even though he loved her with all his heart that wouldn't change anything. So living in her shadow, like hiding himself in the darkness, was his only salvation.
A soft groan caught his attention, the girl shifted waking up. Your eyes slowly opened revealing her (e/c) eyes again. You observed your surroundings carefully until your brain finally registered the unknown area. Your look changed from groggy to shock in a second and you panicked. You looked around until your eyes landed on Lawless observing you with a grin.
"Um..." You mumbled.
"Did falling on the pavement mess with your brain?" He asked playfully, of course he was lying but you couldn't tell.
"I...fell on the pavement?"
"Yep! Right after I told you about the Servamps!" He exclaimed.
"Ser...vamps..!" Your eyes and whole body expression changed as the memory came back to her. She then stared at him taking in the details of his face, crimson eyes, slightly pointed teeth sticking out. From what she read in the past, vampires commonly had these physicalities. Your eyebrows furrowing as you stared while your brain calculated, Lawless could feel his cheeks turning pink at your stare. A familiar state caused the familiar beat of his heart sounding like strong thunder to beat, but he willed himself out of it.
"Mou~ why are you staring? That's kind of creepy of you." He teased. You blinked and then your cheeks held the color of red, and you bowed your head.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to, but..." You trailed off once again locking your eyes with his.
"You truly are a vampire right?" You asked really wanting confirmation. He sighed, were you really this dense? He then gave an excited expression.
"Of course! You saw me do this earlier!" He exclaimed and in a poof he turned walked into a sunlight area and turned into a hedgehog. Your eyes widened as you pointed forward with a shaky finger.
"Ahhhhh! You're right!" You exclaimed. Lawless wondered if the times had changed really drastically. He poofed back to his human self, just for a moment he saw the familiar look again. It made him sick, yet nostalgic. He could read you like an open book. Curiosity, excitement is what decorated your expression, the look in your eyes. It's the same look she had after quite some time. He decided to experiment. His eyes glowed an eerie red as he roughly grabbed your shoulder bearing his fangs. You flinched, and he could feel it, as well as give out quite an audible gasp.
"That's right, I'm a vampire. A demon." He whispered, almost to the point of threatening.
Your heart beat loudly in your chest, it was almost heard in the room. Your adrenaline kicked, signaling fear. You were afraid. Lawless picked up on your fear as he felt the shaking of the girl's body, he knew it would happen. He felt a small twinge of guilt for making you feel this way. But he knew...Vampires and humans weren't meant to be, and was set on keeping it that way. He would not fall in love with another human.
He was deciding what to do next until a hard hit on the head caused him to fly across the room. It also caused you to let out a tiny scream. Lawless laid on the floor twitching slightly, and your shocked sight went from Lawless to quite an angry looking Licht.
"Shit rat you're going in the cage later." He growled. You flinched again, he looked quite intimidating with that purple aura around him. His eyes flickered to you, and even though he calmed down he still looked pretty angry.
"I see you're awake."
"Uh...yeah. Why did you-?"
"I took care of that demon. I am an Angel after all."
"Angel?" You tilted your head trying to process everything. Servamp? Vampires? Angel? It was definitely way overwhelming.
You took in a deep breath, "Um, I'm sorry if I may come off as rude. But can I please have an explanation?" You asked trying your best to be stern. Licht just stared at you glaring but you kept your ground.
"I promise not to tell anyone. I just don't want to leave here being very confused and curious." You said.
"If I tell you, I have no responsibility over you. You have no idea what you would be getting into." Licht explained.
"Well I was taught that life's about taking chances!" You exclaimed a little too brightly, more than Licht expected.
"Owww~ Lich-tan your kicks have improv-BWEH!" Licht once again kicked Lawless but this time in the gut. You jumped again slightly, was this a routine for them? Although you couldn't help but feel bad for the hedgehog/vampire. You went to check on him, he was on the floor twitching again.
"Um, are you ok?" You asked holding out a hand.
"Huh?" Lawless looked up still a little shaken up by the blow. But he saw your concerned face watching over him. There was another clash within him, it felt like torture. He stood up abruptly and grinned like nothing happened refusing your help.
"I'm good remember I'm a vampire! And Lich-tan here kicks me all the time!" He hovered around Licht like a bee while Licht just glared. You sweatdropped and nodded anyway. Licht grabbed your shoulders and sat you down on the sofa with a stern look.
"Listen and Listen carefully. Once I explain, I'm only going to explain once, you are not to get involved, and keep this a secret." He said strictly. You shrunk a little under his hard gaze but nodded and agreed to his terms.
"So the Servamps are like what that idiot said. They are servant vampires who form contracts with those they drink blood from."
"That's right, I just so happened to drink Lich-tan's blood while in Europe!" Lawless cut in excitingly, earning him another kick in the gut.
'That certainly is a gag. Wait did he say Europe?' You thought.
"Anyway, once you form the contract it's permanent."
You nodded your head waiting for him to continue.
"That's all you need to know." He finished.
"Ehhhh? That's it?" You asked, you couldn't help but feel that he was hiding something.
Lawless pat your right shoulder with his hand.
"That's right! That's the basics." He said grinning. Him too, you couldn't help but feel as if this were a puzzle. A confusing puzzle, but you definitely knew there was something else going on.
You then realized something, "I know this is late to ask but what are your names?"
Licht folded his arms and leaned back in his chair, an air of authority surrounded him.
"Licht Jekylland Todoroki."
'His name sounds foreign...' You thought.
You bowed your head, "My name is (L/n) (Y/n). Nice to meet you Todoroki-kun."
"Let's not forget me!" Lawless got in between you and Licht taking your hand and staring into your (e/c) eyes.
"The name's Hyde little lady~" He said playfully, you couldn't help the tiny shade of color appearing on your cheeks from the proximity. But somehow, even though you just met him, you felt your heart beat faster than normal. Why was that?
"And might I just say..."
"Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?"* He said in a low voice. You blushed increased slightly, even though you had no idea what it meant, you knew he was complementing you. What you didn't know was that he was just joking. Lawless decided he wouldn't fall in love with be with another human, no more mistakes. Licht ruined the moment by taking Lawless by the collar and dragging him.
"It's best if you leave now." He said exiting the door. You sat there blinking in confusion with the color still on your cheeks. You brought your hands up feeling your warm face, why did it feel right to you? Not just right but...familiar. You shook your head thinking yourself crazy, and decided to head home to process all of this information. Even though it would be extremely difficult.
Just as you exited the door a wind passed by and you could've sworn you heard someone whisper something. It was like the wind was talking to you.
You shook your head, 'I really need a nap.' You thought.
But the word you thought you heard still lingered in your brain.
"Lawless"
-----------------------------
A/N: Reader doesn't know Hyde's name is actually Lawless still. Until now...
*This comes from Shakespeare's most famous sonnet: Sonnet 18; basically the speaker describing his love by comparing them to something peaceful and lovable like a summer's day.
