M I C H A E L
MY MOTHER ALWAYS told me to control my anger. Repeating "you shouldn't pick up on your fathers bad habits."
I didn't listen.
I guess she wouldn't be proud of me now, huh? Considering I'm doing the business my father should've been doing.
She wouldn't be very fond of me lighting this cigarette and placing it into my mouth, would she?
She would probably snatch the cancer stick out of my mouth and smack me with a chasnkleta.
But she isn't here to do that.
Neither is my father.
He's not here to pull my hair and shove me into my room whenever I did something he thought was "wrong".
Nor is he here to bring girls over my house and fuck them right in front of me.
Oh, and I sure miss when he would come back from a club and yell at me for no reason.
I'll always remember the smell of vodka attacking me along with his lovely words.
His eyes were almost as dark as the black SUV pulling up in front of me.
A man climbs out of the back seat, holding the door open for another man climbing out after him.
The face is familiar. High cheek-bones, dark brown hair, and dark eyes is what stands before me. His aging wrinkles are barely noticeable as he walks closer and closer to me, giving me a small smirk.
"Michael!" Charlie cheers, raising his hands in glee.
My face stays straight.
"Long time no see!" He said, stopping his feet from moving.
I take a drag out of my cigarette as I stare at the aging man. Charlie is a small gang leader in my side of town. but he keeps his business on the low, considering the cops cruising around here.
I am not his gang member.
I am a drug dealer. And he delivers the drugs to me.
"Whats with the bitch face?" He mumbles annoyingly. "So much like your father." He whispers.
I clench my jaw.
"Let's get down to business."
"Ethan told me you got into a little fight with one of Nick's gang members." He crossed his arms and Grinned Impressively.
"What does that have to do with 'business'?" I ask as I furrow my eyebrows.
"It has a lot to do with Business. You see, Nick is the guy who gives me the drugs, If one of my members-"
"I'm not in your gang, Charles." I snap.
His jaw locks as soon as those words slip out of my mouth. His lips become thin and so does my patients.
"My name isn't Charles, Michael." He grits out. His glare never falters as he stares at me.
But not a hint of fear is bubbled up in me. I'm not threatened by him.
I Crossed my arms over my chest and Stared right into his dark eyes. "I Suggest you watch what you say." He stepped closer. A snap came from his fingers, and almost immediately, two men appeared at his side.
I Laughed loudly, Glancing between the two. "What's so funny?" Charlie asked in a deep tone.
I looked at him, straightening my stance which was taller than him, and halted my laughter.
"Jump me." Were my words.
The man raised his thick eyebrows. He looked startled by my words. but I Want him to know I don't fear him.
If I get hurt, there's nothing I can do about it. If I get shot, there's nothing I can do about it.
I don't want to live in this world anymore... but I don't have the balls to turn the gun barrel on myself.
"Boss, Julian's Calling, We gotta go." A small voice said.
A smirk grew on Charlie's face, and in a single nod, I was slammed to the ground.
My head banged on the concrete under me, and suddenly, everything was blurry.
I couldn't see anything besides blurry movements. and it wasn't until a punch was thrown at my stomach did I realize they were hurting me.
One of Charlie's men punched me in my jaw, and I swear I heard something crack.
I felt a boot collide with my head, making me chuckle.
"Keep on going." I mumbled once I felt them stop. I opened my eyes to see puzzled looks on their faces.
"That's Enough, Come on." Charlie said from the car. One of his men tried to spit in my face, but I swiftly dodged my painfully moving.
"You're lucky, Michael. We could've Shot you." Was the last thing I heard before they drove off.
Everything was quiet once they left.
I didn't hear anything but my surprisingly beating heartbeat.
For once In my life, I was at peace.
I couldn't taste anything but blood.
I couldn't feel anything but pain.
