The man had been absent for a few days, same with my powers. For that I was thankful. My dad had taken a few days off using the vacation time he never used to keep an eye on me. I was trying not to be suspicious of him but it was hard. What if he knew about my powers and the man?

Dean kept calling me but I ignored him. He even came over a few times but I hid from him. I had to leave soon. I knew I did. My gut feeling was to get away from the people I loved because something bad was bound to happen.

"I'm going for a walk along the beach, Dad!" I yelled before walking out the back door.

As I walked I thought about how I was going to leave and if my dad knew anything about me. I also wondered why I had these powers. Where do they come from? Am I the only one with these powers or were there others like me? I let out a quiet laugh at that thought. It was impossible, wasn't it? Then again that's what I said when I started to adapt to my powers.

I was so consumed in my thoughts that I didn't notice someone else's thoughts slipping into my head. However when I did notice my head snapped up at the familiar voice in my mind.

"Hello? I know you're there! Come out!" I called.

There was rustling in some trees to my left. I froze partially in fear, partially in anticipation. The man stepped out of the bushes and onto the beach. He didn't stop but continued right down the beach to stop just a foot in front of me. Startled by his closeness I stepped back; he followed.

"Who are you?" I braved.

He looked me up and down before opening his mouth. "I'm Colin."

"Why have you been...watching me?"

"I can't tell you Acelias."

I grimaced at my full name. "Please don't call me Acelias. Ace."

Colin nodded. "Well, I must be going. You won't be seeing me again, Ace. Not until the time is right."

I gaped as he turned to wall away. "Wait!" I nearly screamed while reaching to grab his arm. "You can't leave! Do you know what I am? I know you know more than me."

His arm became taught under my hand. "I'm not allowed to tell you, Ace."

"Why not? I have gone through hell and back because of what I can do. And now I have finally found someone who can tell me what I am and now you're trying to leave? I don't think so! You have to tell me. And you also have to tell me what you mean by, 'I can't tell you'?" I took a deep breath.

Colin's lips all but disappeared and his eyes narrowed in either irritation or anger. Probably both. "Fine. But it's a long story and I'm not the best person to tell it to you."
