Chapter Three

The next day, shouting from downstairs had woken the twins that bright afternoon. They quickly got up and ran downstairs only to see a furious blacksmith holding a peice of paper yelling at his wife about something. The wife of course was yelling right back to him. The twins heads looked at the blacksmith's wife then to the blacksmith. Before then flinching when the blacksmith turned to the twins and shoved the paper in their faces.

And he was absolutely furious.

"Pap-," Apalla began to say.

"Quiet Apalla! I am honestly disappointed in you both!," he yelled.

"Hey don't yell at my sister that way!," Diono said as he took a step forward to guard Apalla from the blacksmith when he was indeed ready to punch him in the face, but the only thing that kept him from doing it was his sister holding his arm back.

"Both of you! Get out now!," the blacksmith screamed at the twins. "Don't ever come back you ungrateful thieves!"

Thieves?

"We are not thieves!"

"I doubt that, I especially expected better from you Apalla!," he yelled at the young girl who sniffled like she was about to cry.

The blacksmith's wife came over and held onto her husband's arm," Dear Hepburn, calm down will you...," the wife looked at Diono," I suggest you leave right now.."

Diono nodded, not wanting to cause more trouble than there was.. ran out of the house with his twin sister in tow, and to the market place of the village. They only stopped to read at paper that was posted on a nearby stand of fruits.

"By order of the great king Resa. I proclaim the children of the blacksmith to hereby leave the blacksmith household due to a witnesses of thieving reports of jewelry by the children on the night of the parade. The stash of jewelry was found in a pile of wood outside, by which locals say only the children go to. If this order is not fulfilled by dawning of noon. I will arrest the kids and force them to become my slaves and they will receive torturous punishments. I will then take away and destroy the blacksmith shop along with an excution of his wife."
                -The Great King Resa

Diono and Apalla looked at one another shocked. They then only threw the paper into a nearby fire watching it burn to ashes.

"But brother... we didn't steal any jewelry last night," Apalla said looking worriedly at her brother who remained almost emotionless.

"That king tells nothing but lies sister,"Diono said bluntly. "For he is a cruel man...."

"Then where can we go?," she asks.

He held his head low," That I do not know."

Apalla nods her head, and hugs her brother who then hugs her back. As the silence quickly draped over them while the sun bested on their heads.

Suddenly the sound of drums and music can be heard from goodbye parade for Resa. Diono only then begins to have an idea, though he hopes its the right one. He grabs his sister's hand, and swiftly drags her through the streets of the town. Pushing and shoving people out of the way...

They finally make it to the street the parade was on. Its was loud, crazy, but it was amazing. Apalla's blue eyes lite up as she saw the dancers and musicians in their beautiful costumes. Diono would have loved to stay, and watch the animals as well as the rest of the parade- but he was too busy looking for a spot to join in....Sadly he couldn't find one... the parade had soon passed them.... Thought that had meant that Resa had finally left.

Diono could have sworn a flash of opportunity struck his mind as he then tugged his sister through the streets. He was looking for the performers and musicians who held the parade. Only to find them in the east outskirts of the town with their property marked off by rope as tents and carts made it seem like a neighborhood.

They snuck through the rope of the settled property. They walked around, nobody really paid them much attention but some folks did stare then continued on. That was until Apalla accidently knocked over a barrel of water.

"Hey! You two!," a girl said behind them. She looked mad when they turned around and saw her. She seemed like a feisty croddicdile.

The twins backed away then took off running.

"HEY! STOP! GET BACK HERE THIS INSTANT!"

They continued running till they went into a tent. Figuring no one was in there since no light was on inside the tent. Until they heard the sound of snakes hissing. They ran out of the tent screaming bloody murder until they were grabbed by two large men. The feisty girl from before walk toward them, her face held not a very pleased look as she crossed her arms over her chest and glared.

"AHA! Thought you two intruders would get away didn't cha," the girl said to them as she then put her hands on her hips.

Apalla looked at her brother and shook her head no at the girl. Diono having to have a plan quickly made in his mind said," Me and my sister wanted to join you and your performers. We couldn't find where we would go to join," he simply lied.

"Is that so?," The girl raised and eyebrow at Diono as if he was crazy. The girl then gave them a teasing smile, and snapped her fingers. The large men who held Diono and Apalla, dropped them to the ground then walked away.

Diono and Apalla got up and dusted their clothes off as they looked at the girl.

"Follow me," the girl said, as she began to walk,"to the boss...."
