Chapter Three
When we are finally able to get off the plane I have calmed down a tiny bit. I stand up and yank my bag down from the compartment above me and shove the stuff I had with into it. I wait for Axton to move, but he is taking forever and keeps glancing at me. Finally he moves and I push past him, exiting the plane with everyone else.
I practically run to the luggage return waiting to get my suitcases. I am standing there for two minutes before I feel hand on my lower back. I whip around to see Axton standing there. He looks at me with concern.
"What are you doing?" I ask, my voice slightly hoarse.
"Where are you headed after you leave here?" He asks ignoring my own question.
I look away from him back to the luggage thing. "Hospital." I see my suitcase and step forward to grab it. After I pull it off the belt, I look at him.
"Why does it matter to you?"
He shrugs. "Do you have someone picking you up?" I shake my head. "Let me drive you."
I furrow my eyebrows, I don't even know this guy. I just know his name...
"Please Fallon, let me drive you and get you something to eat."
I bit my lip, thinking. What the hell though? Beats taking a cab. "Do you swear you're not a murder, rapist, or paedophile?"
He laughs and nods. "I swear." It was then that I noticed the slight accent, but I couldn't pinpoint what accent if was.
He took my suitcase from me and began walking. "So, do you live here?"
He shook his head. "No. I used to live in Arizona, my uncle lives here. I just go back there every once in a while to clear my head. It gets kind of crazy with my Aunt and Uncle, and my sisters running about, occasionally."
"How old are they?" I don't have any siblings, I'm an only child, I begged my parents for a sibling but they said that they only ever wanted an only child.
"They are six." I give him a confused look. "Their twins." He sums up. "And I love them to death, but they are a handful. They are my half sisters and live with a guardian."
I grin as we exit the airport. We don't say anything else until we reach his car. My jaw is on the floor, figuratively speaking. His cars is a 1970 Dodge Charger.
"Oh my gosh." I breathe. "It's beautiful. My granddad had one.. It got totaled... I haven't seen one since."
Axton looked at me in surprise. "You know cars?" He asks.
I roll my eyes. "Is it a crime to?"
He chuckles, "no, I've just never met a girl that knew how awesome my car is."
I roll my eyes and go around to the other side and get in. Once he loaded my stuff, he got in. When he started the engine, I might've squealed a tiny bit, but there's no telling.

After we stopped and got food he finally asked me about myself. I told him the basics. Only child, I work at a garage, I am ahead in school. But then he asked why I am in Massachusetts. I press my lips together and look out the window. He said that we were twenty minutes from the hospital my dad is at.
"My dad has-" I stop. Swallowing and gathering all my courage I correct myself. "Had osteosarcoma. He was transfered here three days ago."
He glances at me. "Had?" Hesitation lacing his voice.
"He died while we were on the plane. My mom said that he waited until he knew I was on Massachusetts. She must've read him my texts." I say, almost to myself.
I'm staring out the window, it has been a few minutes since I told Axton, when I felt his hand on my knee. "I'm sorry. I know how that feels. I lost my mom to lung cancer. It made its way to her brain."
I smiled sadly at Axton, then looked out the front window. With his hand still on my knee, I see the hospital up ahead.
