Chapter 9

<~>This chapter is by me! ~ E <~>

Aveline's POV.

"Obliviate."

Dylan just wiped the last and final Death Eater's memory. I wasn't sure how I felt about our partnership. He didn't seem to be very good with magic, which worried me quite a bit. That and he'd been gone for so long, only to catch one rabbit. I may not be an expert on muggle hunting, but even with thinking someone had followed him, it had taken too long.

So, only day one of the mutual understanding and I wasn't sure if I could trust Dylan. Actually, part of me knew I could, but I had this stubborn part of me that just didn't want to trust him. I'm not sure why.

Dylan stands up fully, squaring his shoulders and glancing at me. I think he's trying to see if I'm alright, which is rather ironic for the person who was just disarmed in the first second of a duel.

He glances away, probably in thought. He did just kill someone. I'm not sure why he seems to feel so badly. They were here to kill or capture us, we just turned the tide. The masks make it easy to pretend the Death Eaters aren't human beings too.

I think Dylan is distracted so I turn away and walk back towards where we dropped our bags.

It doesn't take me very long to find them hastily dropped in the thick shrubbery.

When I arrive back at the place where I left Dylan, he looks like he hasn't moved, until I notice that the Death Eaters are all gone.

"I've been thinking. We have muggle money. And we need to lay low for a day until they forget about finding us. They know we are in the area, because of the trace. But we're just outside a large city. It's only about an hours walk from here. I say we use the muggle finds we have to buy a hotel or something just for a night or two, so that our trace gets lost in the area. Then we move out farther." I suggest to Dylan. I hope he goes for it, it'll be a good chance to see what we can do, also maybe to make contact with a wizarding family that can tell us what is going on, or at least a news paper. I'd even settle for a muggle news paper.

Dylan looks momentarily stumped. Probably thinking about how long a walk it is. It's not too bad.

"Sorry, it's just sort of hit me that this is going to be awhile. We're going to be on the run for Merlin knows how long," Dylan said, his bright hazel eyes looking a bit dampened in spirit.

I understand where he's coming from. He has a family to go back to. I only have Cassie.

Eventually, he agrees to follow my idea.

We've only been walking for about ten minutes when he asks me a question; "Where are you parents as older brother?"

He must know about Alexander from my grandmother's house.

"M-my parents, my brother and my older sister are d-d-dead," I stutter over the word. It's the first time I've admitted it out loud, which feels like it's finalized. Like they really are dead.

Dylan looked absolutely mortified that he asked. I don't blame him though, he didn't know.

"What were your sister and brother's names?" Dylan asked softly. I think he's trying to make up for asking.

"Elizabeth and Alexander Hayle," I whisper, a single tear running down my face, which I quickly wipe away with the corner of my sleeve.

"Oh! There were Gryffindors right? I think I know who they are," Dylan exclaimed.
Of course he does. Elizabeth and Alexander were in the same sort of crowd as Dylan, just older.

I vaguely answer any questions he gives me for the next hour.

We arrive on the outskirts of the city. From here we can see that although it's not massive, it's decent enough to hide in for a day or two.

"We need to find a way to get to city centre. Less chance to be openly attacked," Dylan comments, speaking my thoughts.

"Don't muggle's have large transportation?" I ask, feeling stupid because I can't for the life of me remember the name of it.

"Yeah. A bus. There's a stop across from us. Bus's will be at every stop probably every ten minutes, and since we haven't seen a bus yet I'm thinking there will be another one soon," Dylan said as he took a step into the street. I follow him, looking nervously around us.

We run in a slow paced run to the bus stop. Dylan shows me that he has muggle money just as the bus shows up.

Dylan ordered two teen passes.

"What're your names. Two kids like you alone on a Saturday night. On a date?" The bus driver wiggled his eyebrows at Dylan.

I pretended not to notice, instead I peered into the bus. The only other people were two people about the same age as Dylan and I. Brother and sister from what I could see. They both had the same facial features. The boy was tall and muscular, with black hair and blue eyes. The girl had long, satin hair that looked like it was dyed blonde, and dark eyes.

After Dylan quickly dismissed that notion of the bus driver's, we took our seats across from the other people. We took off our dirty hoodies and both leaned back, enjoying not moving, when a voice interrupted us.

"Hey beautiful. Come here often?" The boy had moved to be sitting infront of us. And apparently he was hitting on me. I have zero idea why.

His sister was sitting in her seat still, looking encouragingly at her brother.

I figured smiling and nodding would be the best thing to do to get him to leave, but no. All he did was blabber on about himself and what we should be doing. He hadn't even glanced at Dylan.

"This is our stop. It's right infront of the hotel," Dylan whispered in my ear suddenly. I jumped up and grabbed my bag. Dylan did the same. The obnoxious boy looked at Dylan like he'd just noticed he was there.

"A hotel!" The boy exclaimed, obviously jumping to conclusions.
"Come with me! I'm better than this pathetic little boy," he smirked at Dylan, obviously expecting me to jump into his arms.

Dylan looked like he was about to say something, but I dragged him off the bus. The obnoxious boy kept talking, hurling insults at Dylan.

Just as we stepped off the bus, I thought better of it, and stepped back into the bus. I held my middle finger up to the obnoxious boy, and then I got off for real.

Dylan smirked as the bus rolled away.
"Ugh, he was so gross," I grin, wanting to just run to the hotel and sleep and shower.

Dylan nodded, not saying anything. We both knew that it was just time to go and have a great sleep.

We eagerly ran up the steps of the hotel and ordered a two bed room and one bathroom room.

The elevator ride lasted what felt like hours, until we were finally in our room.

I dove into the bathroom with my bag. I had a quick shower, loving the feeling of water cleaning my dirty scalp. I didn't want to use all the hot water. I quickly brushed my short hair and got dressed for bed in the only clothes that resembled pyjamas that I had; a white tank top and short black shorts.

I left the bathroom and threw myself on the nearest bed, not even bothering to dry my hair. Dylan came into the room just then. He'd gone to the next door grocer's for some food.

I was overtop the blankets, all stretched out like a cat.  His face as he entered the hotel room was the last thing I saw, for I drifted off into sleep. The last thing I heard was him announcing that he was back, and I drifted off into a dead sleep.

That's all! Hope you enjoyed it! I'd love feedback and what you think is going to happen next!
