Chapter 8

Recap:

"Oh poor pathetic Sydney. No one can help you, no one can hear your little pathetic pleas for help. Your never gonna escape alive, darling." The unknown voice says.

I turn my head using the rest of my energy to see who it is. I see a man with razor sharp teeth, white eyes, and a beard. "Who. Are. You?" I manage to choke out.

"Im Hades, and Im your worst nightmare." Hades says, with a sinister smile on his face. He stalks closer and closer until I can see his glowing white eyes clear as day. He takes his hand and strokes my face with his claws, no doubt leaving marks.

He tilts his face and smiles like he won the lottery. His razor sharp teeth piercing his lip drawing blood, but that seems to be the least of his worries.

"What do you want from me?" I cough out, gaining a little of my strength back.

"What do I want from you? Darling, I want..you. Your power," he looks me up and down and I sudder, "your body....your death.", Hades says, that sinister smile still on his face. He looks like the joker with that smile on his face and blood dripping from his lips where his teeth dig into his skin.

I stare at the blood on his lip and watch it drip onto my shirt, the blood seeping through the cotton material. I look into his white eyes.

They say the eyes are the window to the soul, but I don't think this man has a soul because I see nothing. Looking into his eyes is like looking into a sea of white and trying to see what he is feeling is like grasping for something that you know isn't there.

Being a prisoner isn't as fun as you would think. Your captors don't give you books to read, they don't visit you, and they most certainly don't talk to you through notes or speakers in the place your in. No, instead they don't give two shits about you. They don't care if you starve or think your dying of thirst, all they care about is that your alive for god knows what.

So far since our last encounter Hades hasn't appeared. The doctors don't even come in my room to take my blood anymore. I mean they probably come in my room because when I wake up sometimes there's food and water. It tastes like shit but I have to eat it considering it's the only thing around.

I don't even know how long I've been here. Days? Weeks? Months? Who knows. There's no clock and I don't have my phone. I know that I've been gone for at most a couple days. Shouldn't someone have found me by now, I mean I am a missing person. Where are the search parties, my face on milk cartons, something. I obviously wouldn't know because I can't leave the bed and there is no tv.

There's nothing to do but lie here, the door isn't gonna open, and there's security cameras watching my every move, like how am I supposed to escape. I've always hated the characters in books that get kidnapped and don't try to escape but I would never have thought that I would be one of them. To be fair you don't have much of a choice when there is a force field that sucks the life out of you when you touch it.

God I can't wait until I get out of here. I can go back to Marcy and Ryan. I will be safe with them and—I snap out of my thoughts and still. I hear a creak and I see the door open up. I brace myself to face Hades and I flinch when I feel a hand on my face. I look up expecting to see Hades's white empty eyes and his sharp fangs, but I see a completely different man.

I have never seen this man during my stay but to be fair I haven't seen a lot of people. This strange man strokes my face and I push him back. The man falls on the floor of the room.

"Sorry. I didn't mean to scare you", he says shyly, getting up and dusting himself off.

"Who are you and why are you in here? " I respond carefully.

" I am Ray and I work here. ", he says. This is an office building? That would explain the fancy room, you would've thought I would be in a shack or something.

" What exactly is this place anyway. Where is this place? ", I say slowly. I need information so I can at least plan to escape.

" You don't know? Well I might as well tell you since this will be your new home. This is Hell and you are in the palace cells. ", he says like I should know all of this.

" Hell?! As in Hell? Why am I here? Did I die? ", I respond confused. Does he mean like the place under the ground hell? That would explain Hades, King of the Underworld.

" What other kind of hell is there and no you aren't dead. You really didn't know, did you? ", Ray says with humor in his voice.

" What am I doing here? ", I say confused. Are they gonna kill me?

" You are to be—", Ray starts but is interrupted by the door slamming open. Both of our heads snap over to find a fuming Hades standing in the doorway. He storms over to Ray, grabs him by his shirt and throws him towards the bed but Ray hits the forcefield and slides onto the floor.

Hades walks over to Ray and roars, " Say one more word and your death will be more painful than it will already be!" I flinch back onto the bed and watch the scene fold out in front of me. Hades picks Ray up and carries him out the room. My jaw hangs open from the shock at what just happened.

Had Hades been listening to our conversation the whole time. Why didn't he stop Ray earlier on in the conversation. What didn't he want Ray telling me. I hear footsteps and immediately know it's Hades walking back in the room. His eyes are a glowing white but he has no fangs. He stands at the foot of the bed and grabs my chin and tilts my head up to look at him. He opens his mouth to speak but nothing comes out.

He opens his mouth again and says, " Whatever he said, don't worry about it. But two things he said were true and—"

" What did he say that was true? ", I interrupt him. His eyes glow brighter and I could tell he was getting annoyed.

" That you are in hell and this will be your new home. ", Hades quickly says and walks out the room slamming the door.  Leaving me to my thoughts. I could only think about one thing and that's what Ray was trying to tell me before Hades interrupted. What am I to be? Dead? I don't want to think about this anymore.

I lay down and try to go to sleep but I end up just staring at the ceiling. It's so quiet. I wouldn't imagine hell to be quiet. The quiet is interrupted by a scream. I try to drown out the noise but I can't. I put the pillow over my head and eventually I fall into a restless sleep.
