Cheer Up
You land in front of the challenging pirate, head tilted in a thuggish manner. "Make your move, boy," You breathe, tossing off your cloak and unsheathing your rapier. The pirate pauses in clear surprise at your drastically changed character. You watch him unimpressed, unaware of Kid watching with a interested grin. The pirate doesn't move still shocked. You let out a bored sigh before slashing his clothes up and headbutting him. The pirate falls on his butt.
"We done here?" You question, bored.
"Why you--" He doesn't finish as a haki pulse leaves you.
"Silence. Leave my sight." You growl. He looks at you in shock before running off.
"Ho, someone is looking really annoyed today," A familiar voice makes you look over in surprise.
"Ah, Mr. Kid, good day to you," You greet with a forced smile. He tilts his head to the side, looking at your face for a bit.
"What type of drink do princess' drink?" He asks. You blink and chuckle, feeling at ease again.
"Wine I believe, but I don't like that stuff... I prefer vodka," You reply, sheathing your rapier. He smiles a bit.
"Then... Would you like to drink with me? If it's proper of a pirate to ask such a thing," He rumbles with a smirk.
"Feed proper to the dogs, lets drink," You say, walking for the tavern with him. He smiles at that, walking along side you.
"Yes your majesty," He chuckles. You pout at him like that.
"Do you even know my name?" You sigh. He blinks at that and tilts his head.
"I do. You want me to call you by your name?" He inquires.
"If it's not to much to ask," You reply, looking down.
"Alright ___, what's wrong?" He asks so casually that it seemed normal, but if you had looked over you would have seen that just saying your name made him blush slightly.
"Just... I want out..." You murmur, reaching for the blue horizon. He blinks, following your gaze to the horizon briefly.
"Its not all rainbows and sunshine out there," He tells you.
"Good, because that's not what I want," You reply, dropping your arm.
"Then what do you want?" He questions.
"I want freedom, adventure, and to fight..." You daydream slightly, pushing on his shoulder lightly as you spoke. He raised a brow at the far off look in your eye.
"Maybe you'll get to when someone beats you," He muses.
"I don't want to be married though! I want freedom! No chains!" I breathe, spreading your arms briefly. Kid smirks thoughtfully.
"I'm sure you'll get to soon," He assures. You look at him curiously.
"Yeah? You think so?" You ask, tilting your head to the side. He glances at you with a blush.
"Oh yeah, as wild as you are," He teases with a smirk. You blush and giggle.
"Wild am I? Or just as stubborn as you, Kid?" You tease back, slightly hesitant to say his name formally. His ears turned red at that.
"Hm, maybe stubborn too," He muses. He leads you to the tavern and you both sit at the bar, ordering a drink.
"So Kid, will your crew be staying long?" You ask curiously.
"No, once the lockpost sets in two days we'll be leaving," He tells you. You frown, you were already dreading that date before he said that.
"Oh..." You sigh, taking the bottle the barkeeper hands you and chugging it. Kid raises an eyebrow in surprise at the sudden mood change.
"Easy, are you really okay Princess?" He asks. You frown and lay your head on the counter, looking at him.
"That's when my 'fiance' will be arriving," You admit, spitting out the title in distaste. He blinks in surprise and confusion.
"Fiance? I thought no one has beaten you?" He inquires, arching an eyebrow.
"They haven't, my father went behind me and set up an arranged marriage," You grumble, becoming irritated at the thought. "And it's one of the prince's I've already beaten. And apparently they're either masochistic or I didn't beat them up good enough..."
"Well, what if someone beats you before then?" He asks carefully.
"I don't know, I think my hand would go to them... Assuming someone shows up who can beat me," You reply, lifting your head and frowning at the counter.
"Come on, don't look so hopeless, anything can happen in two days," He points out. You look at his thoughtful expression, and relax.
"Yeah? You're surprisingly optimistic," You muse, smiling a bit.
"Yeah... Something tells me things will work out for you," He tells you. You nod, looking at your now empty bottle. You get up.
"Can we go somewhere else?" You ask quietly. Kid blinks and stands.
"Sure thing," He says before following you out. "Where do you want to go?"
"I don't know... I just want to leave," You murmur, looking down. The whole arranged marriage thing was still bothering you, and he could tell. He reaches to touch your shoulder but drops his hand.
"You know about devilfruits?" He asks, getting a sudden idea. You look at him then.
"Yeah, but I've never met someone with the er, abilities..." You answer. He smiles a bit.
"Well, then, I'll be your first," He muses and then blushes at his own wording. You tilt your head curiously.
"What do you mean?" You inquire.
"Well ___, I happen to be a devilfruit user," He informs you. That slightly depressed aura suddenly lifts off you and you light up, (e/c) orbs sparkling with interest. Kid would be a damn liar if he said the way you were looking at him didn't make him feel like a million beri.
"Really?" You ask. He nods, fighting his lips to keep from grinning like an idiot.
"Yeah, you wanna see what I can do?" He questions, though your answer was all over your face.
"Yes! Please?" You gasp. He chuckles, you were so cute.
"Sure," He breathes, lifting an arm and attracting a bunch of metal to it, making a giant scrap metal arm.
"Wow..." You murmur, touching it curiously. "That's amazing Kid!!" You comment with a grin. He smiles a bit sheepishly.
"Heh, You like it?" He asks.
"Yes, I've never seen anything like this!" You chime excitedly, observing all the things his powers had collected. You soon reach his shoulder and pause, eyes trailing over to meet his gaze. You both pause, and a blush comes to his cheeks.
"So... It's getting late, do you want me to-"
"Can I see your dingy?" You ask. He pauses, blushing more.
"W-what!?" He gasps. You blink and realize you used the wrong word.
"Your ship," You correct, looking up at him hopeful. He shifts, looking away and blushing heavily
"Right, the ship.... Sure I'll show you it... You want to see it now?" He asks since you were pulling him toward the docks. Wait, pulling? He looks down to see you had his free hand. "Small..." He murmurs, moving his thumb over the back of your hand.
"Yes I'd like to see your ship... I don't want to go back just yet," You tell him, not really noticing. Kid frowns a bit, you seemed down again, but then you throw him an excited smile. You pause seeing his frown and stop. "Sorry, am I being too pushy?" You ask, looking down with a slight frown.
"No! You're not, if it cheers you up we can sail around the island if you want," He replies. You light up again, hand tightening on his excitedly.
"Really Kid!? You don't mind?" You inquire.
"Not at all, you're a pretty cool princess," He answers and you grin, suddenly hugging him cheerfully. Kid tenses at that, red painting over his face.
"Thank you! You're so awesome!" You gasp.
"Glad a princess thinks so," He muses when you release him. You giggle at that.
"Maybe I'll be a pirate princess!" You joke. He blinks at the thought and smirks a bit.
"You would make a good pirate," He comments, and suddenly you were daydreaming again as you walked for the pier. Kid watches as your small thoughtful smile forms into a grin.
"I like that idea actually," You murmur. He blinks and smiles.
"You do? Well, how about--"
"Princess ___!" Axel calls, making you both look back. "The King has ordered that you be locked in your room until Prince Malcolm's arrival," He informs you, coming up and openly glaring at Kid.
"What? Why!?" You demand, feeling your anger bubble up again.
"To insure that no one can challenge and beat you before the wedding date," He responds coolly.
"That's absurd!" You growl, clinching your hands into fists. Axel glances at you and frowns.
"I'm sorry Princess but unless someone challenges and beats you before the wedding, I'm afraid you'll be stuck with him," He murmurs. Your shoulders drop, looking at the cobblestone under your foot. "Come along now," He says, turning on his heel toward the castle, you start to follow after him, stopping briefly to look back at Kid. You both exchange a slightly sad smile before you follow Axel to the castle, leaving the pirate captain to watch after you.
