Wilted Roses
As beauty fades into what is now lost,
Leaving prickled thorns in the Christmas frost.
With petals lying in the thick, white snow,
A fatal attraction of enticement grows.
They were once long stalks of beauty, enamored, delicate and fragile as they grew,
With a strength like no other, despite the snow.
But through its resilience, as determined as it pushed,
The stalks bent and bowed, still had life, regardless of how it looked.
But as the blizzard came in, more petals started to fade,
A stark contrast of what spring had made.
Standing there, all alone in the cold,
The stalk stood bare watching the end of its life succumb to what will now unfold...
