Chapter 1
I'm going to be honest, I don't know a lick of Japanese, nor do I like being off the ground, so...the plan ride was a little rough. Got some good sleep, ate a lot, played some Gate GO, so yeah, not all to bad...but...you know...plane rides...no. Jesus, did Kiwi set me up man, I wish he'd pick someone else, I'm not ready for this...Gate traveling. Think about it this way, anything could happen, I mean anything. I could get killed, the people I'm supposed to be saving could already be dead, the entire unit there could already be dead...jeez...this was a bad start.
"Mrs. Kotomine, so glad to see you've made it! You are Mrs. Kotomine right?" Uh....okay....just got off the plane, cute Japanese guy wants me...dream come true! He's speaking English to me....actual English words...I just assumed that uh...I'd have to walk around with a hand book and have to flip through pages guessing what people mean. "Uh...Yeah, that's me, my name tag is right here..." I awkwardly gestured to my military tag, the man nodding. "Nice to meet you Mrs. Kotomine, that's a Japanese name you know?"
Yeah, I knew that, but I'm not even a lick of Japanese, my parents were weird, gave me that funny name. My parents aren't even Japanese either, one is Irish, the other American, where that name came from, even I don't know. "Ah, thanks for telling me, I'm Irish, so...assumed it was Irish for something." He nodded, motioning me to follow, in which I did so. "First time in Japan? I can tell, looking so wide eyed at everything. It's really something else, just wait till you see the Gate Mrs. Kotomine."
The other side of the Gate, I wasn't all to eager for that travel. Meeting Mr. Yojiro...dealing with captives. "Yeah, I'm so ready...totally going to save a ton of people and be a hero." "I'm assuming you don't want to do this...your general made it clear that you'd try to talk your way out of this." Well crap...Kiwi really screwed me over. Such a jerk, how did he know I'd try to squirm my way out of this, oh wait, I know, he's the one who made me a Lieutenant, sent me through basic training multiple times, and now here I am, still a coward. Sometimes I wish I stayed with the weebs of my neighborhood instead of doing something with my life.
"Heh...well, you know iv'e got no say in this, I'm armed and ready to defend myself if needed, so, let's do this!" Man, wish I wasn't so enthusiastic about this, when I get nervous, this happens, and it's a bad habit, cause then people assume I actually mean business, when really, I use words as my biggest defense. "Well aren't you a nervous butterfly, no worries, you will be have contact with us, just not your home radio." Great, Japan will be watching me, not that I'm complaining, just wish it was Kiwi...can't complain. We stopped in front of the Gate, man, it looked kinda...majestic. Why were we bothering these people?
"We're going to open the Gate, you'll walk through, you'll see a split in the road, from there you'll take a left, that should lead you to the town Yojiro has set up." I nodded, most of what the man had said flew right over my head, not that I wasn't paying attention, it was just...the Gate, so beautiful...so....why? Why did we even bother it? The people in there never did anything to us, no wonder these people took the Japanese as captives. "Are you ready Mrs. Kotomine?" "....Yes, I'm ready, thanks for asking, let's do this!" He nodded, leading me up to the Gate, pressing his hand against it.
"There...that should work. I wish you luck Mrs. Kotomine, do bring back our men, okay?" Yeah, dude, that's on the list of things to do, I'll mentally circle that one in red, just give me some time. I did't have much time, did I? How long before these Japanese demand me to come back with there people? I swallowed hard, resting my hands at my side, looking at the open doors of the Gate, such a regal structure really, like the Gods made it themselves, maybe they did. "You can count on me, I'll be back before you can say 'Hobbie before Jobbie!'." He laughed, watching the Gate doors carefully, bright light seeped through the doors, its beautiful. "That's your ride Mrs. Do be safe."
Heh...this was it, this was me traveling through a Gate into another world...or....time...it's uncertain yet which one it is. With a deep breath I stepped into the Gate, the bright light dimmed, I found myself in the darkness, two sources of light near me. Where I had come from, and where this Gate was leading me, I noted that there were other doors within this Gate, all of them having been closed shut but the one, that's the one that called, these people needed me, and I guess I had to help. "Guess that's the one...this is uh....this is kinda unnerving..." I walked along, looking among all the doors, finally coming up to the only opened one. "Well....no turning back now..."
My voice echoed through the Gate, man...scary, no time for second thoughts. I stepped through the Gate, the bright Skies, the clean fields, the majestic scenery around me, it took my breath away. This place...it didn't need us, not at all, we were just going to break it like earth, I could't let that happen, but I did have a mission, as much as I loathed the idea itself. I knelt down, pulling out my compass and map, thank God for the General who had his unit here, he was able to send me a bag full of things I might need. Iv'e played enough D&D styled games to know how these types of maps worked, but for the life of me, what was the language on this map!? It did't look Japanese, it definitely wasn't English....I'd have to ask, to bad that General did't circle where the base was.
I sighed, folding the map, resting it under my arm, holding my compass in my left hand. "Let's get a move on then, it's just me, myself, and I, that's all I need." I was honestly lonely and scared, anyone could attack me, anyone, and I would't know what to do. I could only trek on, my head down, staring at the compass, keep moving north, classic survival tactics. "Σταματήστε, δεν επιτρέπεται σε αυτή την περιοχή, πράσινο!" I slowly lifted my head, staring at a buff man, dressed in some Greek or Roman armour, I wasn't sure. "What? I don't understand....what did you say?" He stepped closer, drawing a sword, I knew I was in trouble. I grabbed my combat knife, the two of us circling each other. "Πράσινοι άντρες, θα σε σκοτώσω όλους!"
I don't know what to do, I don't know what he's saying, he's being aggressive, that's all I know, what would Kiwi do? "Sir, I'm going to be real with you, I don't want to fight!" I slowly put my combat knife down, that didn't seem to matter, he charged, my instinct was to run, and I tried to, his sword catching from my shoulder blade down almost halfway to my elbow, pain, screams, blood, I felt it all. This is how I go out huh? First guy I meet? I could't feel my arm, my left arm, I barely could get my fingers to twitch, but that was the least of my problems.
"Lady in Green, έχω έρθει για σένα!"
