Thank You

Artemis took her bow off of her shoulder and slung it off into her bed, or her make do supply of pillows and blankets. It was the same as all the other members of the Queen's Rebelion, none lived a life of luxury anymore. Especially not the former princess. "I think it goes without saying that I wasn't too pleased with your arrival." Artemis said as she slipped off her quiver of arrows and tossed it by her bow. "I Uh-" Poe began nervously, unsure of what to say to the young woman. "No ma'am...?" He said, trying to find the right words to say. "From the second I met you, you seemed like a cocky arrogant resistance fighter." "Actually I'm a pilot..." Artemis rolled her eyes. "Typical. Keep your mind in the cockpit, Poe, and out of my rebelion." Poe scoffed, he looked down at the small princess with his arms crossed over his chest. Poe wasn't exactly tall, but neither was Artemis. He was at least a head taller then her, causing her to look up at him. "Your rebellion?" "Yes my rebellion. Who else's would it be?" "The people's." He said flatly. "Artemis, princess, when are you going to understand that there is no difference between your rebellion and the resistance. We both stand and fight for the same thing. What's so bad about receiving our help?" Artemis huffed and her arms crossed over her chest, mirroring the man in front of her. "What's so bad about it?" She seethed, repeating his words and her voice broke. "In one year I was supposed to take my mother's place in court and become queen. I was supposed to lead and protect my people and now I can't even do that." She said, tears threatening to fall. "I've lost all of my family and any ounce of security that I can promise my people is threatening to leave as well. I can't loose them too. I just can't." Poe was stunned by the sudden vulnerability from the woman before him. "Hey hey," he said softly as he gently placed his hands on her shoulders. "It's gonna be okay, I promise." He brushed a strand of dark brown hair from her face. "But you have to learn to let others help, to let me help." Artemis sniffled. The small girl had finally lost it, her walls coming down. She had never had anyone to open up to before and she was tired and Poe just happened to be there. She felt bad that he had to bear her whirlwind of emotions all of a sudden. "I will." She said softly. "I want you to help us, to help me. Please." She said as her dark blue eyes looked up at him. Poe grinned softly as he pulled the young woman in for a hug. Artemis was surprised by the gesture. She hadn't been hugged in so long that the feeling was strange and foreign to her. She slowly wrapped her arms around him, hugging him back. "Thank you."
