"what the hell is taking so long? are you fucking masturbating in my bathroom jeon jungkook?" taehyung yelled from behind the door that swung open soon after. "if pooping is considered masturbating, then yes." jungkook answered and taehyung grimaced at him, "you're disgusting."

jungkook chuckled, "yeah, but you don't mind it. now get ready, we're going out."

the older looked at him confused, "where to? weren't we going to watch a movie here? it's almost midnight." he said but jungkook shook his head, "are you coming or not?"

an hour after that, taehyung and jungkook were on a cliff where a view of the whole city was displayed for them to see. it was beautiful.
they sat down next to each other, neither of them saying a word, just letting the peaceful silence engulf them, until jungkook spoke.

"i used to come here a lot when i was younger."

taehyung was surprised. this is the very first time that jungkook says anything about himself, especially about his younger self. he figured it was a little too much for jungkook, so he took the latter's hands in his and applied a little pressure to reassure him, which made jungkook continue talking.

"i was in my first year of high school when i discovered this place. then i started coming every other day, it made me feel calm and at peace." he said before squeezing taehyung's hands that were holding his, "you see that tree over there?" he pointed at a tree behind taehyung, and the latter nodded, "yeah, what about it?"

jungkook turned to the view again before answering, "she was my best friend. i called her aster, and i used to tell her everything. i even talked to her about my first crush." he chuckled as he continued talking, "i mean my first actual crush, you know? after i discovered myself. it was the oh god i'm into boys kinda crush."

he took a deep breath, "i was really happy back then, and i thought that happiness would last forever. i kinda wish it did. no, i really wish it did." he said, removing one of his hands from taehyung's to rub at his face. "i was living with my parents back then, and we were happy. i'm an only child, i mean i used to be. i have step siblings now."

taehyung wasn't sure if he could ask jungkook about his parents now, so he thought of another question. "and what happened to that crush?"

jungkook chuckled, "nothing really, i couldn't tell him how i felt because i was still in the closet back then, he was out and he was very comfortable with himself and i admired that, but next thing i knew was that he found himself a boyfriend and all. it broke my heart a bit but i got over it."

taehyung hummed, letting the other know he was listening. "aren't you going to ask about my parents?" jungkook asked which made taehyung look at him. "only if you're comfortable enough to talk about it."

jungkook smiled at him, that same smile that makes taehyung's heart melt.

"they got a divorce, obviously, hence my step siblings. my father is in jail in busan, where we moved after i dropped out of school here, my mother got married again after the divorce and now she has two twin daughters and a boy." jungkook explained, "i don't really know them though, i haven't seen my mother ever since she got married, she just pays my bills because i can't really find a job to fund for myself."

taehyung nodded, "why though? why can't you find a job?"

"i never graduated or anything so no one would want to hire me. i haven't really tried to apply or anything, but i know i won't get hired so i don't bother. but it's okay really, i don't mind." he answered, "i can always look for simpler jobs, but i can't right now."

"is it okay if i ask why?"

jungkook sighed as he nodded, "yeah, you know how i am. i walk away almost all the time. i can't disappear on my boss for months and then expect them to welcome me back with open arms. i'll definitely find a job when i'm a little more stable though."

just when taehyung thought jungkook is opening up, and that it was now his chance to ask about where jungkook goes to when he's away, jungkook lays down on his back looking up at the sky and pulls taehyung with him, "the stars look really pretty tonight, don't they?" and just like that, taehyung's chance is gone.
