I've been out of the hospital for a month. School started back the week after I left.

I wait for Alex by the doors of the school. Eliza and André pass by me and Alex follows behind them.

He stares at Eliza then grabs my hand and we leave the school.

I look at him questioningly. He notices. "What?"

"You were staring at Eliza."

"O-oh was I?" he says nervously.

"Yeah," I sigh.

He holds my hand tighter. "Sorry."

"I've gotta go to Peggy's today for a project," I say and kiss his cheek. "I love you."

Je t'aime aussi, petite patate."

"What?"

"French."

"You know I don't speak French. And it sounded like you called me a potato."

He smiles. "Maybe I did, maybe I didn't."

I roll my eyes playfully. "Whatever dork."

"And I got paired up with... Samuel Seabury."

I nod and kiss him then walk over to Peggy. "Hey Pegs."

"Hey John," she says putting her bag in the trunk of her car. "Get in."

"Alright mom damn," I say getting in her car.

We drive to her house and she parks the car in the garage along with her six siblings and her parents cars.

I grab my backpack and laptop and we go up to her room. She falls face-first onto her yellow bed sheets. "I so don't wanna do this," she groans.

"Oh come on Peggy. It's not that bad. And besides, we got the easiest topic: Turtles!"

She rolls over. "Ugh fine."

We start working on the project and it takes about two hours.
When we're done, we get some snacks and just talk.

"Pegs, Lexi is in your class so you spend more time with him during the day right?"

"Mhm."

"Well, h-has he been acting different? Like, talking with Eliza more?"

"Kinda."

I sigh.

"You alright?"

"Yeah. I'm just worried that he's cheating on me."

She cups my face with her hands. "Trust me honey, if he cheats on you, I will personally murder him myself."

I smile and hug her. "Thanks Peggy." I pull away from the hug. "I should head back home."

"Text me later."

"I will," I say.

I walk back to the Washingtons house and open the door. George and Martha aren't home yet.

"Alex! I'm home!" I put my bag on the stairs and walk into the living room and feel my heart sink. Alexander and Eliza, of course.

He quickly pulls away from her kiss and looks up at me. "J-John! It's not what you think!"

I feel tears in my eyes. "Yeah it's definitely not my boyfriend fucking kissing his ex."

He looks down. "John, I'm sor-"

"Don't even try to apologize Hamilton. We're done!" I throw the promise ring at him and run upstairs to my room and slam the door and lock it. I throw myself on the bed and bawl my eyes out.

I hear a knock on the door. "John-"

"Go away!"

"Please just talk to me."

"Fuck you. Leave me the hell alone."

I stay silent until I hear him walk away from the door.
