Chapter 1
The Bad Pair
Warning: Contains some swearing
I held a pillow over my head attempting to drown out the sound of my alarm. I am not a morning person, never have been never will be. So at this hour I basically don't want to do anything, usually I just flop around like a beached seal in self pity until my brother comes and wakes me up. Now when I say wake up this may include sitting on me, tipping ice cold water on me, dragging me by my ankles or blackmailing me. Oh family what would you do without them, note the sarcasm. Today however, I can't be bothered to be put in a bad mood by him so I rip myself from my beloved bed and dragged my hot mess I call myself into the en suite to have a shower.
It was a Monday morning and I had school, the drain of my life. It didn't really help the fact I had a History assignment due in today which I had not finished, Ms.Carter won't be impressed. For some reason she literally hates my guts, it could be my constant talking in class, sassy backchats and threats to other students but who knows. You see I'm not your typical 17 year old senior, I've watched so many cliché films of high school kids that get bullied and let everyone walk all over you but I don't let that happen. Don't get me wrong I'm a nice enough person, I just don't sit back and have a backseat position in life.
Once showered and my teethbrushed I go into my walk in closet and pick out something to wear. I pick out a pair of high waisted denim shorts, a baby blue and white striped long sleeved thin jumper and my low top white converse. My parents are actually quite wealthy and I get new clothes nearly every month which is handy. Some people may call it spoilt but I call it privileged. Once I positioned my thin jumper lopsided so that one shoulder was showing I brushed through my brown mane which people call hair and leave it down to dry naturally straight, then quickly apply a small amount of mascara. Done.
Now feeling a bit more human like I decide to give my brother a taste of his own medicine. Popping into the bathroom I grab the bowl on the windowsill and emptyed all the scented crap from it and filled it with cold water. Bellamy would bark out orders but I wonder if he could take what he dishes, I smirk trying to stop myself from sloshing water down the hallway. I reach his door and opened it with my elbow skillfully.
"Go away." he didn't even look up. Big mistake. I walked over to his bed and tipped the entire lot over his head. He shot up like a bullet so I took that as my cue to run. Chucking the bowl on top of his dirty laundry, I bolted downstairs from his cursing.
"I'm going to kill you Gretch!" He blurted hurling down the stairs after me.
"You have to catch me first!" I tease, knowing he isn't joking.
"You know mum and dad are away don’t you," He smirked.
Oh fudge.
"Do I care? " I tempted. He slammed his palms on the island counter looking me straight in the eye.
"Watch your back sis." He chuckled turning away and beginning to walk back up the stairs.
"Whatever!" I shrugged grabbing some bread and shoving it in the toaster. I've always had a good relationship with my brother. Him being twenty one and left collage not doing anything but going to party's and lying around at home gives him plenty of times to take me wherever I want. We also look very alike, we both have naturally dark brown hair, a tanned skin complection and hazel-brown eyes, the only difference is our height, he's a head taller.
I turn my attention back to my toast and start buttering it thoroughly.
"Your're giving me a lift!" I demanded shoving the toast in my mouth.
"Oh am I?" Bellamy trots down the stairs running a hand through his wavy hair now wearing jeans, a white tee and an army styled jacket.
"Yeah," I say with a mouthful of toast.
"Real lady-like,"
"Shut up." I glare.
"If I have to give you a lift I will," he sighs.
"Great! I'll go grab my bag," picking up the other slice of toast I head for my room and grab my black rucksack with pink roses on and sling it over one shoulder, how I usually have it.
"Shotgun!" I shout slamming the back door.

"There's new meat!" Grace squels with excitement. Meet my bestfriend Grace Willman. She is a typical high school gossip lover, I could literally tell her I was pregnant this morning and by lunch the whole school would know (I'm not pregnant by the way).
"So?" I shrug looking over, her blonde hair was down and curly today how she usually has it. She looked nice with her leggings and flowy turquoise top that complimented her sea blue eyes.
"Soooo it will be nice to see what they're like. " she smiled showing her dimples. Damn her cuteness.
"Well lets find out then," I smiled, trying to put a little enthusiasm behind my voice. Heading to class a bunch of cheerleaders stand blocking the door, yet again may I add.
"Ohh he's got that rough look about him!" one girl exclaimed.
"Total bad boy!"
"Apparently he is, he's been expelled from three other schools!" They all giggle and swoon.
"Excuse me.." Grace practically whispers trying to get round them. Grace has always been the more polite one out of us, she has more manners. But these cheerleader girls don't deserve manners though, they may seem charming and pleasant but deep down they're a bunch of bitchy backstabbing hoe bags.
"Move!" I shout stepping out in front of Grace. Immediately a pathway was made along with death glares and dead silence from within the class.
"Pffft we don't give no special treatment!" Bella spoke up with her hands on her hips.
"Then why'd you move?" I rolled my eyes, walking past her.
"You just need to back off bitch. You think you own everyone? Well newsflash you don't!" Bella shouted. Grace swallowed and nervously glanced to me as a warning look as if to say 'Don't retaliate' but unfortunately for her I'm not familiar with that phrase. Thumping my bag on the nearest table I strutted over to Bella and got in her face.
"I swear to god, you say one more stupid thing about me I will take them pom-poms and stick them where the sun don't shine!"
"That will be quite enough Miss.Rousso!" Ms.Carter boomed. Rolling my eyes I stepped back grabbed my bag and walked to my seat at the back of the class.
"Bella, shouldn't you be in gym class?" Ms.Carter shooed her away. "Now...Miss.Rousso,"
"Ms.Carter," I mimicked.
"That is not the best of ways to start a Monday morning." she scolded. "Now! As some may be aware we have a new student here, Nathan Blake." she gestured to the boy sitting two rows to my left at the second to back desk. He was wearing a tattered pair of black jeans, converse, a blue t-shirt and a tightly fitted black leather jacket accompanied with a pair of mirrored glasses.
"Mr.Blake welcome and would you please take the glasses off the sun's outside." she walked round her desk.
"I'd rather not."
"Well Mr.Blake it is unnecessary for you to wear them." she forced a smile.
"Free country." he shrugged.
"Ms.Carter? Please just sent him out I would like to actually start the lesson." Patty Goodfellow called out.
"I'll send you somewhere if you don't shut up!" He threatened Patty who was frowning. Ohhhhhhh looks like I've got some competition on my hands, I smirked a little.
"Pssttt! Hey Gretch!"
"What Micheal." I turned to the boy sitting on my right. God this kid was annoying as hell.
"That was hilarious earlier with Bella!" he grinned. Desperate or what.
"Yeah sure because I'm the real Harry Hill." I muttered back and he burst out laughing again.
"No talking in class you two!" Ms.Carter stared at us.
"Well he's allowed to wear sunglasses!" I pointed to this Nathan dude.
"I will not be starting this lesson until you take off your sunglasses Mr.Blake!" she shouted now pretty annoyed.
"For fuck sake." I mutter, "Oi! This lesson is painful enough so don't make it worse." I shout over at him. I was personally expecting him to yell at me which I was sure as hell prepared for but surprisingly he took his glasses off and turned to look at me quirking an eyebrow.
“Wasn’t too hard was it?” I lean back in my seat.
"Thank you Miss.Rousso although that's probably not the correct way to deal with the situation,"
"Well you weren't dealing with it." I rolled my eyes which earned a scornful glare and a few snickers whom dared to laugh.

The morning drained on and what was only three hours seemed like a whole day. Now it was lunch and they had my favourite today! Jacket potatoes and cheese! Usually high school food is crap but I have to congratulate our school that they don't serve shit on a plate. Lost in my thoughts and munching on my food I didn't notice that Taylor had sat down in front of me.
"Hey...earth to Gretchen." she snapped her fingers in front of my face.
"Huh?"
"Quit the daydreaming! I got news." Taylor winked. Taylor was my hook up girl, not for that kind of stuff though! I mean like my social butterfly that arranges parties and stuff not that I usually go anyway. I've never been to a party thrown by someone in our year in this school, well tell a lie I’ve never been to a teenage party even though I had plenty of opportunities from my previous schools that I was excluded from.
"Our whole year has been invited to this guy called Ethan's house tonight! It's a bit short notice but everyone's going!" Taylor smiled impressed with herself, “Please Gretch you’ve got to go! We’ll take good care of you, promise.”
"Shouldn't we double check we’re invited first?" Grace asked propping her head up with her hand.
"Grace everyone’s been invited, I promise you.” Taylor reassured her.
I hesitated for a moment, “You better not leave my side, Taylor.” I warned.
"Great! I'll pick you both up at 7 tonight at your place Gretch okay? Dress nice!" she hugged me tight and walked away. My first ever high school party… Okay I had to pick the perfect clothes, I took a mental note to myself. I turned back to my food when a shadow towered over me, I looked up to find the new boy standing across the other side of the table where Taylor had been a second ago.
"Can I help you?" I asked slightly sarcastically.
“You know no ones ever spoken to me like that before.” He said.
“Well maybe people should.” I said icily.
“Maybe…but that would be a bad decision to make. I’ll let you off today but don’t do it again.”
“I’m trembling in my boots.” I roll my eyes. Jeeze this boy has waayyyy outstayed his un-welcome card.
He chuckled a little “You don’t know what I’m capable of.” He said and walked away.
"Asshole." I muttered.
A/N
So this is my new story that I’ve been so excited about! It’s one of them typical teen stories that I’ve made from scratch that includes your typical teenage drama, the dreamy boy and all the baggage. I would love it if this book went far as I have planned it all, YES I repeat all! Also I’m hoping to update with more pages to read, the limit being four pages per update? Is that okay? I have written 23 pages of this book already in word so depending on how well this first chapter goes like if you enjoy it I will upload the next chapter quicker but if it’s a slow starter then I will update a little later J Soooo enough rambling! I would really appreciate it if you can vote and comment on this one so I can see how well it goes down! Thanks for reading the first chapter of The Bad Pair!
P.S In future A/N I may be posting one-shot competitions, cover competitions or dares and the winners will get a dedication and a shoutout in the A/N to keep things extra exciting! This will be happening from Chapter two onwards so again please comment on what you think of this, as I really would love to hear your guys thoughts and feelings on this one. Thanks!
