Chapter 24
"Get off me...." I mumbled as I squeezed my eyes shut and backed away from Daniel.
"I said get off!" I screamed as I jolted upwards in bed.
"Gretch?" A surprised voice said from next to me. Before I could even process what had happened the door flung open and Bellamy stormed in.
"Get the fuck away from my sister!" He shouted. Nathan held his hands up in defence. What the hell...
"No, Bellamy I was having a bad dream its fine..." I rubbed my temples. My brother gave me a suspicious look before apologising to Nathan quickly.
"I'll see to her." Nathan nodded and with that Bellamy slipped out the room and shut the door behind him. A single tear slid from my eye as I let out a shaky breath. I dreamed about him. About the day I found everything out, the day my heart shattered into a thousand pieces.
"Gretch?" Nathan placed a hand on my shoulder gently.
"Sorry." I mumbled wiping the tear away quickly before he could see. "I just had a bad dream, something was chasing me. No biggie." I dismissed quickly.
"Only if your sure baby." He kissed my neck gently and I flinched away from him. "Gretchen, I can leave if you want me too." He'd noticed.
"Sorry..." I pushed the covers off me and stood up and began to pace the room. "I feel like I'm still in the dream..."
"I understand." He nodded. "I'll give you some space and take a shower." He smiled slightly before shifting off the bed and headed into the bathroom. It was 6:30. Deciding to get dressed now, I threw on high waisted denim jeans and a yellow silk top with a bow at the back. I left my hair down and wavey and put on some gladiator sandals.
I didn't know how to feel right now. I was so scared, no petrified of running into him today.
The bathroom door opened and Nathan stepped out. I walked in the bathroom so I could brush my teeth and wash my face.
"You look beautiful by the way." I heard Nathan call. I smiled a little. I shouldn't worry, I have Nathan now. I just need to avoid Daniel, avoid telling Nathan about Daniel and not tell my brother. Its totally fine. I have this totally under control.
I walked out the bathroom and wrapped my arms round Nathan from behind.
"Thank you." I mumbled against his back. He smelt of my favourite cologne he wears. "When can we train again?"
"Whenever you want." He kissed me on the top of my head before slinging his bag over his shoulder.
"Ok." I smiled as I grabbed my own.

We both had a little breakfast before Nathan drove us to school. He parked in his usual spot in the car park, he came round and opened the door for me before lifting me out effortlessly.
"Thanks." I smiled.
"My pleasure." He kissed my cheek. He took my hand and we started to walk through the main entrance. My eyes kept darting around me, worried that I'd bump into Daniel any second now.
"Do you need to go to your locker?" Nathan asked, pulling me out of my trance.
"Um, yeah..." I answered. We turned the corner and headed down the right corridor towards my locker. I relaxed a little more when I saw Taylor shoving stuff into her locker next to my own.
"Hey Tay," I waved as I let go of Nathan's hand to put the combination in to my locker.
"Well hello my dear Gretchen!" She chirped.
"Well someone's happy." I smiled at her.
"I am indeed." She smiled. "Nathan your brother is amazing!" She gushed.
"Please Taylor, don't talk to me about my own brother in that...way." He screwed his nose up.
"He's actually so good in bed." Taylor whisper shouted. What the hell!
"Fucking hell. Okay, Gretch baby? I'm going to be over there." He pointed to Andrew further down the hallway.
"Sure," I laughed as I watched him retreat. "Seriously Taylor? Did you have to scare my boyfriend away by talking about how good his brother is in bed?"
"Sorry, but like seriously. Kendall is like a god!" She screeched.
"Jesus Tay, it hasn't even been a week yet and you've already had sex?" I closed my locker so I could glare at her.
"What can I say being around Kendall just makes me so horn-"
"Please don't finish that sentence!" I held my hand up to stop her as she giggled.
"Only for you." She smiled. "Although I know I'm taken, I'd love to run my hand hands through his hair." Taylor smirked.
"What?" I raised an eyebrow at her.
"Hot stuff over there." She nodded forward to further down the hall. I tried to follow her gaze. "The blonde one." My eyes landed on him.
"Looks like a dick head." I said quickly not being able to look away from Daniel.
"Well he's a hot, dickhead that hasn't stopped staring at you." I heard Taylor say and that's when accidently his eyes met mine. My eyes widened as I took him in. I saw him and he see's me. A rage from deep down me started to rise although there was a small part of me that was happy that he'd seen me, and I couldn't figure out why.
"Well I have a boyfriend." I snapped as I tore my eyes away from him.
"Jeeze Gretch, I know don't bite my head off. Come on lets get to class." She suggested.

I was glad when lunch arrived, I was starving and I don't think a salad was going to fill me up but it was all I had. My mind was ticking ahead. I'd only seen Daniel once today thank God.
"Whoa Gretch! What did that lettuce leaf ever do to you?" Taylor raised her eyebrows at me as she nodded towards my fork. Subconsciously I had been stabbing a piece of lettuce what looks like quite a few more times then necessary.
"Sorry, I'm a little preoccupied..." I mumbled placing my fork down.
"Yeah no kidding." Taylor smiled.
"Where do you think they are?" Grace asked. We'd been waiting twenty minutes for Andrew and Nathan but there was no sign of them.
"Probably just got held up." Taylor said with a mouthful. Rolling my eyes I continued to eat my salad listening to Taylor go on talking about Kendall, don't get me wrong I'm over the moon for her, just not right now.
Out the corner of my eye I saw the canteen doors swing open with Max, Toby and....him sauntering in like they owned the place. My eyes unwillingly remained on Daniel's person as he stalked his way to a table and sat down. I couldn't stop looking at him. What was wrong with me! Before I could peel my eyes away from him his gaze met my own. I was frozen. Captivated by his strong gaze. Then he had the cheek to smirk. I looked away hurriedly as my cheeks flushed with embarrassment and anger.
"Well I'm going to meet Kendall out front, catch you guys later!" Taylor waved before Grace and I could say goodbye.
"Hey Gretch?" Grace asked. "Are you ok?" I wasn't ok, but I couldn't just say that right?
"Just a bit of a sleepless night that's all." I answered truthfully.
"Oh right, they suck." She offered me a faint smile.
"Grace? Can I ask you something, but can you not question my question?"
"Sure..." She hesitated nervously. Hopefully this would come out right.
"How can you prove to someone you used to know that you've moved on? That they don't mean anything to you?"
"What like an ex-boyfriend?" She asked. "I'm not questioning you, just asking in which context you mean."
"Well yeah, it can be an ex or a family member or something." I shrugged.
"If it was me I'd make them jealous."
"Jealous?"
"Yeah, I mean if you really want to make them feel worthless and angry." Grace explained. "If you ever want to talk about anything Gretch, you know you can speak to me."
"I know, thanks Grace." I smiled. After some light discussion and rambling about our boyfriends no show, I noticed that Daniel was constantly checking up on me and looking at me, right up until the bell went.
"Great...Spanish!" Grace rolled her eyes. I smiled at her, she hates learning new languages however I quite enjoyed my Spanish class.
"Gretchen."
"Fuck off Max!" I spun on my heel to be confronted with his cocky grin. "Like seriously, you have something wrong with you! You keep stalking and checking up on me all the time!"
"I care because I'm your friend." He smirked.
"Like hell are you my friend, arsehole. You hate my guts, I hate your guts let leave it at that." I rolled my eyes, it felt a little good to vent some of my anger. I turned away from him but he grabbed my elbow.
"Get.the.fuck.off.me." I growled.
"Where's your little boyfriend?" He smirked down at me. I hated that I was quite small sometimes although I made up for my height in bitchyness.
"None of your goddamn business Chandle." I yanked my arm free and slapped him round the face. "Stay away from me, dickhead." I glared before turning away and following Grace out the canteen to our Spanish class.

I tapped my foot impatiently as I waited by Nathan's car for him. I hadn't seen him all day since period two. I'd texted him but had no reply. I leaned against his car and stared at the main entrance seeing if I could spot him, however surprise surprise, Daniel strolled out with arsehole 1 and arsehole 2.
I watched them as they went over to the silver sleek porche parked opposite Nathan's car. Daniel had inherited a load of money from his Grandfather when he died, I would know because I was the one to comfort him. It's probably the only emotion he didn't fake when he was with me, the grief was real. They checked his car out absolutely fascinated by the tin can he calls a car. I felt Daniel's gaze on me and I quickly looked away and prayed to God he wouldn't come over seeing as I was alone.
"Gretch I am so sorry ok?" I head a familiar voice say. I looked up to see Nathan jogging over to me. I still knew that Daniel was watching, I could feel it. Without thinking I grabbed Nathan's face and crushed his lips against my own desperately.
"Gretch..." Nathan whispered against my lips. He tried to pull away slightly but I didn't let go.
"There's no need to talk." I whispered to him before kissing him again. I jumped up and wrapped my legs around his waist as he pushed my back gently against the car.
'I'd make them jealous.' Grace's words swirled in my mind in sync with the butterflies swirling in my stomach. I hoped to God that Daniel was watching right now, maybe it would make him think twice before he'd do anything. I know that this was a bit much, I could tell from some of the wolf whistles that I could hear around.
"What was that for?" Nathan asked as he pulled away.
"I missed you." I smiled, playing with the collar of his leather jacket. I watched his he smiled back and placed me back on the floor. He wrapped his arms round my waist and and pulled me into a hug. I rested my head against his left shoulder as I looked back over in Daniel's direction, he was staring straight back. And he was angry. His face was creased and I could see the aggravation in his eyes as he glared straight at me. I couldn't help but smirk and pull Nathan closer as I watched Daniel get in his car and speed away.
"Can we go back to yours and train? I have a lot of energy right now." I smiled as I bounced up and down on my toes.
"I know something else we can do that needs a lot of energy," he smirked, I simply laughed and shook my head.
