Chapter 5: The Fraudster and The Lightweight
Linda arrived at Owens after making a pitstop at the store. She had bought a six-pack of beer and had already gone through three. She was glad she only lived down the street so she could walk home at this point. Linda headed up Owen's steps and knocked on the door.
He answered, looking very upset. "Thanks for coming, Linda." He stepped aside and let her come in.
"No problem," she stumbled over the entranceway, "so what exactly happened?" Linda slurred her words; she couldn't exactly handle her alcohol.
"Are you drunk?" Owen asked her, and Linda rolled her eyes.
"Most certainly not! Although I may need to leave my car parked out there till tomorrow, fair warning." She replied with a smile.
"Right, so yeah, my dog went missing the other day. I called Gretchen, but they have no leads." Owen said with a sigh; he looked very sad.
"I'll do what I can; anything else you can tell me?" Linda asked; she wanted to hurry this up and go finish her case of beer.
"Victoria really hated him, and I saw Caren over there with her the day before and after he went missing. I think they had something to do with it." Owen said, and Linda nodded.
"Okay, I'll talk to them both and see if they'll tell me anything and get back to you." Linda left and went next store to Victoria's but before chugging another beer in her car really quick.
"What do you want, Linda?" Victoria asked, opening the door for her.
"Hey, Vicky, what's up with Owen's dog missing?" Linda asked, and Victoria could tell her she was drunk.
"First off, I can not believe you'd show up on my doorstep drunk! Secondly, I paid Caren to kill that stupid mutt! Now get off my property!" Victoria slammed the door in her face, and Linda walked back over to Owens.
"Well, what did you find?" He asked, looking hopeful.
"Caren and Victoria gave him to a lovely family because that's how much Victoria hated him. You can sue them if you want, but the most you'll get is a couple of thousand dollars." Linda lied to him; she didn't want to straight up tell him they killed his dog.
"Oh... they're fucking bitches!! I'm going to just get a new dog!" He closed the door in her face, clearly upset.
Linda chugged the last two beers she had and somehow managed to walk home; Victoria had texted Tori and told her about Linda being drunk, unfortunately.
"I can't believe you got wasted again! You know I hate that, Linda! Go to an AA meeting!" Tori shouted at her.
"I only had a few; I do not need AA." Linda retorted.
"You are a lightweight idiot, and you do need AA! Just go to bed and don't speak to me till tomorrow!." Tori turned her back to her, and Linda rolled her eyes and went to bed.

Owen drove to the nearest animal shelter and went hunting for another dog. The lady inside was very friendly and took him around to look at the dogs they had. After looking around for nearly half an hour, he found a sweet little Pomeranian.
"She's only a year old, got a long life ahead of her!" The lady smiled, and Owen nodded.
"I'll take her!" He said, and she took him over to the desk.
"Alright, let's just put you on file, and then she's all yours! What's your full name?" She asked.
"Owen Ophiuchus." He said proudly, and the lady quickly went from friendly to a bitch.
"I can't believe I was just nice to you! You're literally a fraud! Whatever, take your dog and get out." She hissed at him, and Owen took the Pomeranian home.
"I'm going to name you Roxy!"

Meanwhile, Courtney was having another rough day, and she phoned Owen. "What's up, Courtney?" He asked.
"Can I come in for therapy? I'm having a shitty day; everyone's an asshole! Except me, of course." She said, and Owen sighed.
"Sure, and you can meet Roxy! She's my new Pomeranian."
"Adorable, I'll be there soon." She chuckled.
