Chapter 4F

I'm completely helpless and in crisis.

I've read countless documents from Divris, but I can't find a solution to what could imprison Daisy's undead aura.

Then, one evening, when Lynn asked me about the Dark Book, I learned of a shortcut: creating a spell to conceal the undead aura from the Dark Book and then studying its mechanism to create a special magical artifact.

And now I'm cheating. But this cheating isn't exactly a smooth path; it's just less thorny. For someone with my knowledge of magic, it took me months to learn from the basics, so this task isn't easy. But at least I've successfully created a spell to restrain Thalos's demonic aura, which gives me more confidence.

I still need to create a Plan B for Daisy because I can't create this magical artifact in time for the ship to dock in Kenmare.

"You've successfully created the Elixir, now you might get bored. You could stay with Begonia for a few days or go back to the mansion to rest. There might be something to do there."

"That's right, I miss Dahlia so much, she must be very busy. I should go back and help her out." Daisy speak out.

"Daisy, look after the flower garden," I instructed.

With that, Daisy flew up to the captain's cabin to say goodbye to Anisia and the crew. She quickly disappeared amidst the teleportation spell, so fast that Lynn and I didn't have time to react.

"I only suggested it, and Daisy just went straight back." I stared blankly at the spell after Daisy vanished.

"She's still so innocent, she even said goodbye to everyone before leaving," Lynn said.Long-distance instant teleportation spells consume a lot of mana. Magical energy consumption is directly proportional to the distance traveled, so I, like everyone else, have to carefully consider what's necessary to use it. But the magic stone resources in the Necropolis are incredibly abundant, so I have the right to use it a couple of times for personal purposes.

Even just a few hours without Daisy's presence, Lynn and I were already visibly sad.

We buried ourselves in researching magic tools for Daisy, and we've seen some promising results. Lynn has also almost finished studying Fel's map book.

"We've been on the ship for 13 days now, Lynn, haven't we?"

"Yes, not counting the two days we spent in Vestri, it's 13."

"Have you thought about what we'll do when we get to Kenmare?"

"I think we'll stroll through the alchemist shops and see what delicious food the taverns have. What about you, Divris?"

"It would be nice to meet someone. I just want to meet more people, make more friends."

"You're always so lively and friendly, I think you could make friends with the whole village if you could."

"Haha, Lynn, you overestimate me. I've been alone in Xeros for so long that my social skills are beyond description. Fel is a large continent with dozens of countries, so there are many rules and cultures we need to learn."

"Oh, I'm feeling so worried now."

"Lynn, you don't need to worry. I think you're perfectly fine behaving naturally as usual. After all, we're considered foreigners in Concordia anyway." I patted his head.

"I'm worried anyway. The people there... maybe it's partly because I'm homesick. Even though I've lived in Fel for a while, I haven't traveled much. I've only stayed around the forest where I was born and a few small villages nearby."

"Cheer up! We'll definitely make lots of friends."

Lynn nodded and smiled.

No matter what happens, I will make sure Lynn gets the happiness that fate has taken away from him.

I went up to the cockpit to talk to Anisia, who had always been curious about my magical abilities. Since I hadn't had the chance to demonstrate my powers, Anisia seemed a little disappointed that she missed the opportunity to meet a famous sorceress like me.

"Please don't let those rumors make the captain think I'm some kind of god. I'm fortunate to only possess a few survival advantages, not omnipotent powers. Mostly, I use magic for research and support."

"I'm so ignorant. I misunderstood the qualities of a model researcher." Anisia sincerely apologized, bowing her head.

"Oh, please don't. Actually, the captain doesn't know much about me. I'm glad the captain is so eager to learn about me." I smiled.

Anisia turned away, hiding her blushing face. "I'm glad to learn more about the Grand Sorceress."

"Please just call me Divris." I gently ask.

Anisia smiled and nodded, then picked up her binoculars and looked around. "Oh," Anisia exclaimed anxiously.

"What's wrong?" I asked worriedly.

She showed me the binoculars. I saw a boat heading towards us.

With Anisia's captain's skills, she could accurately determine how many people were on board.

"Around seventeen people. We can't determine the origin of the boat."

"So, it doesn't belong to any country? Could it be pirates?"

"We don't know, it could be a refugee ship." Anisia cautiously speculated. "What do you think, Divris? Should we let them approach? There's a good chance they're pirates."

I looked back at the somewhat ostentatious, glittering royal ship I was being transported on. Being a ship for the nobility, it lacked a weapons bay. Pirates would drool at the sight of it.

"If it's a refugee ship or a convoy in need of assistance, we absolutely cannot abandon them. We'll let them approach. Anisia, just signal to reassure the crew; if anything goes wrong, Lynn and I will handle it."

Anisia's eyes lit up with anticipation, hoping for an opportunity for me to demonstrate my magic skills. But seeing her unspoken desire made me a little apprehensive.

The ship, which had appeared like a grain of sand in the distance, grew larger and larger, and in the blink of an eye, it was docked parallel to ours, a safe distance apart, not too close.

The flag requesting reinforcements had been lowered.

Lynn, Anisia, and I stood together, watching the ship in the distance.

On the other side, two figures were waving, asking to be allowed closer. Anisia used sign language to signal permission.

And so the ship inched closer, the atmosphere becoming increasingly suffocating.

A flashing light inside my head signaled that something ominous was approaching.

Anisia seemed to sense something as well.

Lynn suddenly said, "I sense danger approaching."

"On that ship?"

"Not that one."

Lynn and I instantly understood what we would do. I used telepathy to connect with Lynn.

I whispered the plan into Anisia's ear. She nodded. Immediately afterwards, an explosion occurred.

Bullets rained down from one direction on the two boats, Anisia's and the rescue boat.

I instantly created a partial barrier in the direction of the suspected enemy attack, consuming 20% of my magic power.

The bullets hit the barrier with a deafening roar, sending up a thick cloud of gray smoke.

The sunset was beginning to peek through.

"Anisia, your wish has come true," I teased her.

"Divris, please don't joke when danger is imminent. The enemy seems to know advanced invisibility magic. We'll have difficulty locating their ship to counterattack."

"Anisia, have you forgotten who I am?" I smiled mischievously.

Together with Lynn, we flew towards the rescue boat. Realizing it was clearly a decoy, I felt even more troubled and annoyed.

Another barrage of bullets was fired at the barrier. Not only that, a bolt of lightning struck directly at the barrier.

My barrier remained intact, its resistance undiminished.

"Presence Detection!" I used the prepared spell scrolls from the Black Book, consuming 10% of my mana.

A huge, imposing, and incredibly ferocious pirate ship appeared. Its invisibility cloak was exposed by my high-level magic. And once its position was revealed, I could immediately deal with it easily.

"Blizzard." I continued casting the spell, consuming 50% of my mana.

Just one confinement spell would be enough to cripple this pirate ship, a test to gauge the true nature of these people. I decided to risk using all my remaining mana to fully utilize the Blizzard spell.

High-level magic created a small whirlpool, enough to cause the calm seawater beneath the ship to swirl and freeze completely. Of course, I had already created a thin barrier just enough to block the cold air from the Blizzard spell, ensuring the safety of the creatures on board.

The result was spectacular. The pirate ship was encased in massive crystal ice blocks, clinging tightly to its base like a house built on a cliff.

Lynn and I hovered, looking towards the pirates on the ship a few miles away, and they looked back at us through binoculars.

I didn't react. I flew down towards the ship to call for help.

Everyone on board trembled and knelt down as I landed.

At the same time, Anisia's ship had also approached, building a bridge to cross over.

Seeing many people kneeling before me for the first time, I panicked, not knowing how to handle the situation. Anisia even raised her hand, inviting me to be their representative.

After a moment of eerily silent silence, Lynn asked my permission to speak on their behalf.

"Keep it brief," I signaled to him.

"Standing before you is the Grand Sorceress of the Black Tower from the Necropolis, Divris. I am Lynn Xyrlen, the apprentice mage of Lord Divris, speaking on behalf of the Grand Sorceress. Because your ship needed assistance just now, please tell us what you need help with and who the representative of this ship is so I can speak with you." Lynn's gentle demeanor and tone lifted the oppressive gloom.

"I am Jerald Renner, the youngest son of Baron Frederick Renner." A young man spoke weakly, yet still tried to make himself clear. He didn't dare look up at me or Lynn.

Perhaps after witnessing the catastrophic magic I had just created, transforming a large portion of the sea into a deadly ice vortex, wide enough to span an entire city, everyone on this ship thought they had encountered something monstrous and that negotiation was impossible.

The more Jerald spoke, the more he trembled, to the point where his words were almost indistinct.

Lynn asked my permission and then approached Jerald, kneeling down on one knee to be at his level. The poor young man was consumed by fear, as if he had no one to rely on, as if everything he did was a bottomless abyss. Tears streamed down his face, forming puddles that spread across the wooden floor.

"Excuse me, young master Jerald, please stand." Lynn held out her hand for Jerald to take. "Lord Divris and Captain Anisia's crew will not let anything happen to you, please tell us what happened?" Her warm, deep voice immediately hypnotize the young Baron Renner. It was as if he were mesmerized by something emanating from Lynn (most likely his handsomeness).

Jerald took Lynn's hand and slowly stood up, his whole body weak as if he had been starving for days.

"I apologize for using the Incubus's ability to neutralize emotions to calm the young master," Lynn relayed my thoughts to me.

"You did well, the situation seems urgent. We need information to help him and the others."

We patiently waited for Jerald to completely calm down, and after Lynn patted his back reassuringly, Jerald began to explain the situation.

"Please save my family. My parents and two brothers are being held captive on that pirate ship. I apologize for my pathetic behavior. I don't know how they are doing now, as their lives depend on my success in luring your ship away..." Jerald choked, fear suddenly rising as he was about to speak.

"You don't need to say more, Mr. Jerald. We understand the situation. Please ask Captain Vestri of the royal family to assist you," Lynn continued.

"My brother was severely wounded by them; I haven't seen him all day, and I've been so worried. I'm such a useless fool, I couldn't help at all." Jerald sobbed as Lynn's spell wore off, or perhaps his emotions were too strong to be neutralized by the spell. He wasn't crying for himself; he was crying for his own helplessness in being unable to help his loved ones.

"Please, Grand Sorceress Divris, save the baron!" The people around him pleaded in unison.

"Your wish is my command," I said, then flew straight towards the pirate ship.

Lynn followed, his whole being radiating a murderous aura.
