Chapter 13

Song of the chapter: Hold Tight - Justin Bieber

"Hello?" I answered my phone, heading out of my Manhattan office.

It was lunchtime and hordes of people were leaving to grab quick thirty minute meals at the chic hipster eateries within a five mile radius.

"Hey, honey," said a sexy familiar voice. Mitchell. "I thought you'd wanna grab lunch? We're at that Italian place that you like so much."

"We?"

"Min invited us all out. She says she has a surprise for us so I said I'd call and tell you. I miss your voice," he whispered back. I missed more than his voice at that moment, feeling tingles up my spine.

"You know what? Lemme come pick you up." He arrived soon after, driving Min's matte black Merc. "I stole her keys so don't mention it," he explained, holding open the passenger side door.

He was listening to his favourite playlist of his top ten rock ballads, hit singles from the likes of Def Leppard to All Time Low and Nirvana. The windows were rolled up and the interior of the car smelt faintly of his trusty scent which always seemed to put me at ease.

We sang along to Blink-182's "I Miss You", humming the guitar riffs and him drumming on the steering wheel. A middle aged man in the other lane took a video of our impromptu performance with his daughter snapping quick pictures before we sped off, laughing at our short fifteen seconds of fame. He placed one hand on my exposed thigh, his warm touch ascertaining his claim over me.

We got to the restaurant a few minutes later; before I could get out of the car, he turned my face towards him and pulled me into a passionate, tongue filled kiss. He moved into me and firmly held my derriere in his hands, his fingers slightly raising my floral shorts.

"I can't do that inside and you look really good. I'd have you in here right now but I respect Min too much."

His delicious taste lingered in my mouth as I stumbled into the restaurant, straightening my outfit and frantically flattening my frazzled hair. My heart was pounding slowly and there was burning sensation between my legs. Why did he have to make me so hot for him, I cursed.

"Finally, you're here," shouted Min from across the room. "Come sit your cute butts down so we can get started."

"Please tell us why we're here already. I'm hungry, mate," cried Aidan, seated at the edge of a family size table.

"Okay. You know how much I love you idiots, right?"

"But you just called us idiots," interrupted Cam, looking a little too Zen. He must have smoked a joint with Rae, I thought - she looked the same way.

"Fuck you, Cam. Anyways, I used some of my allowance for the summer to take you guys to Ibiza for the last week of July and early August. Zoe was telling me about this party thing there so I decided why not treat ya'll. You're welcome, bitchatchos," she announced, before sitting dramatically.

"Great, so we can eat now." Aidan motioned towards the waiters not before Min called him an 'ungrateful bastard', typical Min and Aidan behaviour every other day. Their love-hate relationship, more hate on Min's part, made these friendly gatherings all so special and memorable.

Mitchell deliberately placed himself next to me - his free hand was rested on my thigh and his boot clad foot crawled up my bare leg; I couldn't concentrate on the conversation at the table with my blood pressure rising as his hand rose into my shorts. I glanced over at him and he winked back at me, his eyes twinkling underneath the diner's bright yellow light.

I felt his fingers slide into my underwear, navigating their way around before I felt a part of him inside of me. I cursed at myself for wearing tiny lace knickers which obviously seemed to turn Mitchell on every time.

I had missed this, us being intimate - it been three days since I had last seen him; I didn't, however, intend it to be under these very public circumstances. Min was disagreeing with Aidan over the pronunciation of 'artichoke' with Rae and Cam trying to break up what was about to turn into a violent argument. To the right were Ty and Lyle were engaged in grown up conversation, oblivious of the childish and inappropriate behaviour around them.

My phone vibrated, rescuing me from the unsettling moans about to set in and embarrass me in front of my closest friends. I sprinted out of my seat and headed to the nearest sanctuary, the bathroom. It was a work message instructing me to get back immediately.

I quickly freshened up, straightening my underwear and ironing out my creased clothing. I splashed some water on my face - my cheeks were a blush red and I was burning up. That always happened when I was anywhere near Mitchell. Why do I love you so much? I asked him telepathically.

I got back to the table and grabbed my bag from the seat. "I have to go, you guys. I'm sorry," I said, directing my apology to Mitchell.  "See you later tonight at Ty's, okay?" I yelled over my shoulder, racing out of the door clutching Aidan's pizza slice.

"I hate you, Zoe!" he shouted out after me.
