A totally different world.
Looked same but completely different from one another, everything stood on opposite order. Taehyung gazed at his own apartment, not actually his but looked exactly the same. Minus several damaged he caused not long before this. There was no broken mirrors, no scattered books; when he went to the balcony and looked down, there's nothing in the street.
"Taehyung," the black-haired man turned around, his eyes met a stunning man with pink hair. Taehyung almost runs and hug the man, just if he didn't know the man wasn't his beloved.
Jin stood before him, same face, same body, same height, and the same voice but never his Seokjin. The man felt oddly the same though, Taehyung can understand this man shared almost the same soul like his Seokjin. Hard to explain but you just 'know', this was Seokjin from another world.
"So this is your world?" he raised his eyebrow, Jin chuckled at the oblivious young human boy.
He shook his head before meeting the human's eyes, "no, it's not."
Taehyung, clearly confused with the statement opened his mouth but before he asks; Jin added, "Through the looking glass," he started, stretching his hand to the human, "we're in the middle world; a dimension between my world and your world. The void, that's what my people called the dimension"
The black haired man hummed, "mind explain it more detailed?" he asked, the pink haired angel nodded as he grabbed Taehyung's hand.
The angel's grip was firm, crooked fingers intertwined with his long fingers, "there's some space between every alternate universe, like a small gap between two alleyways," he almost jumps when the ground under them suddenly fall but they weren't falling together.
Jin kept walking with Taehyung several steps behind him, his hand never let go of Taehyung's hand, "some people get lost in this space," some people?
"Like ships when they entered the Bermuda triangle," a certain point in the middle of the sea is the entrance to the void dimension, the devil triangle, that place had its name for some reason.
"Most of them never going back, some of them really entered another universe and unable to go back," Jin explained. It's kinda hard to really explain the theory but the angel was trying his best to make the human understand. It wasn't like Taehyung really care, after all, he just wants to meet his fiancée as fast as possible.
"Don't let go my hand," Jin whispered, Taehyung flinched when suddenly the air cracked, the pink angel created a huge hole. The wind howled from inside the hole, Jin's eyes turned golden and Taehyung's body felt hot. Dizziness took over his head, he wanted to puke, he lost his mind and his ears turned deaf.
The pink haired angel clicked his tongue when he felt the human's hand went limp, Jin pulled Taehyung into his embraces. The young boy shut his eyes as tightly as possible, the warmth engulfed him, he screamed as the pain became unbearable.
"It's hurt," he chanted, hands pulling at his own hairs and his blunt nails dug into his scalp, "it's hurt!" Taehyung heard a loud cracking sound from Jin's body before everything went blank.
*
Seokjin woke up because of a sweet smell of freshly baked bread, he hadn't eaten for who knows how long. He opened his eyes slowly and the familiar ceiling greets him, the dim light and the moonlight illuminating the museum room.
He doubted himself when he got up from the bed, the silk blanket draped over him but he pushed it away. The black haired human looked around, his doe eyes met the mirror with ancients language engraved to its frame. The same mirror that brought him to this sickening parallel world, the gate V used to bring him here.
He missed Taehyung.
His body went cold but he didn't care, he kept walking until he stood before the gate of this dimension. He can feel his eyes watered again, he remembered the time where V told him the story of 'Jin'. Someone who he believed to be another him in this universe, he wondered if that Jin really died; he will be stuck in here forever.
The thought killed him, the fact that he can't see his beloved anymore made him think about suicide.
"Jin?" he shut his eyes when the gruff voice echoed, no, he didn't hate V in fact. He knew the pain, he knew this angel went mad because he lost his lover. The truth just made his feelings became more complicated because he can't hate him, he can't hate V for abducting him; why? Because if Seokjin put himself in V's foot, he can't promise he wouldn't do the same if he possesses the same power.
In some other life, they are standing side by side and laughing; while in other life, they are apart.
V walked to Seokjin, the human stood before the mirror with a blank expression. Eyes red; he kept crying after V forced him to obeys, cheeks sunken; because he refused to eat anything, and the hardest thing to taken care of was; the silent treatment.
Seokjin shut his mouth, he didn't answer anything V said. The human felt his words will never reach the angel, nobody can reach the angel except 'Jin' himself, so Seokjin silently prayed for the wingless angel's presence.
Seokjin never imagine, somewhere; in a parallel world, another side of him made love in a garden of wilted flowers. Their trembling hands, reaching out towards the sky, trying to grasp the last watery rays of dying sun- two hearts colliding and shattering into millions of tiny stars. He learnt about Jin and V, the tragic love story he got dragged into.
V sat beside him after Seokjin slumped down, back against the mirror. V too, he wanted to cry but no tears came out, so he just stares blankly into space while feeling his heart break into pieces.
"Jin, please-" he begged, his raspy voice broke at the end.
Seokjin shook his head, he took a deep breath and let out a shaky one. V moved, sat before him; straddled his thigh and grabbed his hands.
"No-" Seokjin frowned, pushing V away from his eyesight. The black-winged angel forced his way, pulling the trembling human to his chest and comforted him with soft humming.
"NO!" Seokjin screamed.
"Leave me alone!" he begged.
"I had enough!" V shook his head, he refused to let Seokjin go.
"I want to go home!" the black haired male trashed, kicking the angel, slapping him; punching him, even screamed at his face with pure hatred mixed with sorrow. The blond angel accepted all of it, his face sad but his hands gripped the human possessively.
Seokjin hated it, the fact that he calmed down at the end and stopped crying because screw it; V was sincere, his love was pure and loving.
"I'm sorry...." The blond haired angel whispered, "I'm sorry but-" he sounded like crying but the tears never shed, "I can't lose you too."
*
It was cracking.
Taehyung almost lost his mind when he saw Jin's face cracked. The pink haired angel coughed and fell into his knees when he woke up, hands desperately clawing the ground and face scrunched into an ugly expression.
It was obvious the pink haired male was in pain, Taehyung rushed to his side.
"Jin!" he shouted, "Jin- hang in there!" he caught him before he really hit the ground face first.
They arrived at the flowers field; Edelweiss, full of green and other types of wildflowers. The wind was so comforting and cosy, Taehyung wanted to throw himself and enjoy a nice nap.
Jin pointed to the spot under a big tree near them, Taehyung lifted him bridal styled with no struggle; it was like he was lifting a feather from the ground; so light and it scared the human.
"W-what- H-How," the human stuttered, Jin rested his head, eyes closed. He stopped coughing after Taehyung put him down, they sat under the tree together. The ugly cracks still on his pretty face, "what's going on?" the human didn't know what to do.
Jin knew the human's hands never really leave him, neither his hand on his shoulder or on his thigh. The worries clear from the human, Jin chuckled. He wanted to whisper he was the one Taehyung should hate, he was the weak one, the angel that can't fight for his own love; the man who failed to protect the love of his life and too helpless to reach his own mate.
"We must hurry," he tried to stand up but his knees kept trembling, Taehyung pulled him back into his sitting position.
"Please, if you die, no one will send me and Seokjin-hyung back to our world," he joked a little but he sounded so serious, well, he was serious.
"What happened to you?" Taehyung hesitated, Jin didn't shove his hand away so he touched the wingless angel's face, the cracks under his left eyes spread until his chin.
Jin opened his eyes, his eyes back to the original colour; not golden anymore.
"Now I need you to think about Seokjin," the pink haired angel grabbed Taehyung's hand, he didn't have much time left to explain about his critical condition, and he needed to finish this sooner.
"But-"
"Taehyung," the younger man flinched, he grabbed the fragile hand back. The power he had after the angels punished him wasn't much, he was dying.
"Okay." Taehyung gulped down, Jin smiled softly.
Taehyung thought about Seokjin, his beloved fiancée. Black hair, fair skin, his windshield wiper laugh, his dad-jokes, his homemade cooking.
When the loud sound, similar to the noise when someone throws glass onto the floor echoed in his ears, once again Taehyung felt his surrounding moved together like a spinning wheel. He felt better than the first time, maybe he became used to the sensation or maybe because Jin held his hands firmly. The pink haired male clearly said he didn't have wings but the warmth surrounded Taehyung like two wings engulfing him.
The next thing was he felt someone poured ice water to his body, he shivered but the wingless angel made him stayed still.
"Find him, and then I will send you two back together. Remember to hug your fiancé and touch the same mirror from the museum, the one with my language engraved to its frame," the last whisper he heard before the warm hand left him completely and he arrived at the dark museum.
The place was similar, almost the same minus the light and the person who sell tickets. Taehyung memorized the place well, he knew where he should go. To the room where the big statue of the black winged angel kneeled.
The corridor was long different from the one in his world, a really long one and Taehyung almost give up before Jin's voice echoed inside his head.
"No," Jin's voice sounded so assured, the human felt saved.
"Continue, he is at the end of the corridor," Taehyung nodded even when there was nobody but himself. Along the way, Taehyung heard a weird conversation, like recorded videos.
'Over here, V!' a cheerful voice, it was Jin's voice.
'No, wait for me! Jin!' V's voice, totally different than the last time he met Tae. It sounded loving and full of fondness.
'Hurry up, I bake us delicious bread!'
'Wait for me!'
The wave of feeling drowned him, he can see and heard the story inside this huge place.
'I love you.'
'I love you more. More than the twinkling stars, more than the sun to her son, more than anything, Jin.'
The white prison was heaven for them, the place where two souls found each other, loved each other, happy with each other and being ripped apart.
'Be it the world end.'
'You're the only one.'
Maybe it was the place itself that recalled the happy moments, or maybe it was because Jin finally being here again.
"Jin?" Taehyung tried to call him, "Jin, where are you?" he asked with shaky tone.
"I'm here," the pink haired angel answered calmly, assuring the human he wasn't all alone in the darkness.
Taehyung looked around, he saw nothing, his hands touching the wall as the guidance but he can't find the kind angel, "I can't see you."
"Just keep walking, Taehyung ... I'm somewhere in this place, my power can't make two-person enter the corridor because there's where the seal's strongest point, and it's much easier for you to get in because the barrier's true purpose is keeping V away from me," the angel explained, Taehyung hummed.
"Do you see it too?" Taehyung questioned with a small voice, referring to the memories that flashed before him second ago as he kept walking.
Jin remained silent for a while, "yeah," the human can detect the angel was on the verge from breaking, "as clear as the day," the voice wavered.
It didn't stop there like the place was eager to tell Taehyung and remind Jin about his happiest moment, where the pink haired male teach V how to cook, how to sing, how to appreciate their fucked life. The memories kept flooding to Taehyung's consciousness.
"You loved each other so much," Taehyung stated.
"Until our last breath. More than anything," the voice replied, Jin never forget their time together; nor their promise, the sweet words, their vows.
It was when Taehyung can't move anymore when his legs almost gave up on him and he was ready to shut his eyes; dying was better than this endless corridor, his knees buckled.
He heard Seokjin's voice.
"Get yourself together!" Jin shouted.
Taehyung summoned unknown power inside him, he ran to the end of the corridor with fire inside his eyes. The dim light from the moon being his only guide, he rushed and stepped into the room.
Seokjin clawed at V's hands on his neck, the black winged angel straddled him with wings darker than black soaring to the sky. The black-winged angel's eyes dark with anxiety, hopeless to his own fear; his hands straggled Seokjin as tight as he can; stealing all air from Seokjin's contracting lungs.
Someone, please stop me; he chanted inside his head.
Taehyung kicked the angel from his fiancée, V gasped when the pain shot through his body because of the mortal's attack.
"Seokjin!" the younger man shouted, Seokjin blinked his eyes in disbelief. He can't believe his fiancé was right before him, "Seokjin, hang in there!" the older man coughed, his lung was gasping for air.
The dam broke as the tears rolled again, Seokjin clutched his shirt and sobbed into his shoulder. Taehyung hugged him, his body trembled as he embraced the love of his life.
V stared at the humans with disbelief, shocked because the human travelled the dimension and found this place. He held the place where the mortal kicked him, still burning with pain but he felt relief? Because the man prevented him from killing an innocent soul.
The last thing Taehyung needed to do, just like what Jin said. He must run to the mirror beside the corridor he used before; he needed to touch it and jump there. Jin will send both of them back to their world with his last power, he will close the mirror, cut the connection between their world and V will never bother them again.
Jin never tells Taehyung but the human knew, the angel was sacrificing himself to finish what the immature angel did to them. The last power meant, even after Jin finally found V in here, he will never able to tell the younger angel that he was still alive. He won't be able to send his voice, he will never have enough power to reach V.
That Jin was waiting for him in another side of the museum, unable to get through the barrier himself because the barrier kept him outside; Taehyung can't let happen. He hated V more than anything but they deserve happiness too. He wanted Jin to be happy with another side of him, he can't stand the fact that Jin was dying outside.
"How can you-"
"You bastard!" Taehyung screamed, "It's totally wrong!" he stood up, helping Seokjin to stand up too.
Seokjin eyed him with confusion when Taehyung walked to V instead of running away immediately, the blond angel was confused too because logically the human will take Seokjin away from him as fast as he could but he approached him.
"It's totally wrong for being like this," Taehyung grabbed his collar and pulled him closer, eyes straight to the blond man, "you must think it was better to kill Seokjin because that way nobody will own him but you; am I right? He will never leave you again, but you know what? Just like you, we're totally same; yeah, just like you I jumped from another dimension for my beloved!"
V flinched, Taehyung knew his mind because he was another him. They were the same but different at the same time. Taehyung was strong, unlike V so that was why the mortal will knock him and bring him back to the right path.
"Yes," V hissed, an ugly smirk on his face, "but don't act like you know everything. You don't know," he grabbed Taehyung's hand back.
"You don't know how I LOST him, you don't know anything about the PAIN," two souls fighting against each other, "you just lost Seokjin just for two months, and I lost my love more than eight centuries!"
Seokjin watched with a horrified expression, the black wings illuminated by the moonlight; his fiancée fought with the angel with face firm like he knew something nobody knew.
"He refused to be my Jin," Taehyung can't tell his other self were crying or ranting; sorrow, anger, sadness, guilt, everything melted into one; it was V, the broken angel.
"I don't have any choice but to end him," the tears were clear like crystal, so beautiful but sickening.
"I can't- dying is better than this, I wish I can end my own life, I wish I can just die," he sobbed, clawing at Taehyung's wrists, "please- I can't lose Jin again," he pleaded, Taehyung almost feel sorry.
The human let the black winged angel go, V fell to his knees, Seokjin rushed to him and hugged him from behind, "Taehyung-"
"I know your problem," what Taehyung just said made both of V and Seokjin more confused, "I know how they separated you from Jin," he kneeled in front of V, face serious with no hint of joke or hesitation.
"You're a coward because you're afraid Jin really died," V gulped, the corner of his eyes stung, "die? Hah!" Taehyung gave him a mocking smile, "you simply wish for death when Jin struggled; enduring the pain, he is trying his best to be with you again! But you! You stayed here, in your comfort zone and fucking begged for mercy! You're nothing but a coward!"
"Why you know about Jin? What do you know about us?! About our history?!" V's voice mirrored his depression, his wings soared once again and covering almost all the moonlight but no, Taehyung wasn't afraid.
"Open your eyes, jerk! I know almost everything! Even the wildflower scenes," Taehyung pointed to the other corridor, the one leading to the kitchen, "he is somewhere, in this place! Waiting for you to meet him!"
V shook his head, covering his face, "there's no way he- don't trick me like that. Don't use him for something dirty like that!" the blond angel growled, the room shaking with his rage and his eyes furious but Taehyung stood tall in front of him.
"There's no way I get here alone! V, you're a powerful and a smart angel, please don't embarrass your other self like this," weird but when V looked up, Taehyung can put his hatred aside and pat the young angel's shoulder.
"Hurry up, he is waiting," Taehyung added as his voice and eyes softened before turning around, Seokjin tilted his head but Taehyung just gave him his iconic boxy grin and kissed his fiancé's cheek.
Taehyung let out a content smile after scolding V, "Let's go home," he entwined their hand, walked to the mirror with ease; light steps. V watched the couple touched the mirror and that was when he felt it, the familiar power of a certain pink haired angel caressed his cheeks. The warmth, the golden sparkles with the hint of pastel pink.
For the first time after many centuries, the real tears with no anger or guilty rolled down his cheek, "Jin?"
"Taehyung, what just happened?" Seokjin asked with a tired voice, "How do you know about Jin?" he leaned his head to the younger's shoulder.
Taehyung sighed, their hands disappeared as they pushed into the mirror, "there are so many stories we must share to each other, Hyung," he pulled Seokjin into his embraces once again, kissing his soft black hair.
He gazed to V for the last time, the blond angel gazed back and the human counted it as 'I'm sorry' and 'thank you'; he smiled back and mouthed 'go get him you bastard'.
V didn't waste any time, he ran to the other corridor as Taehyung and Jin dived into the glass, going back to their world.
The blond angel used his power, like a beast he pierced through the barrier protecting his room and the corridor. He was a fool, after all, wasting so many centuries because he was afraid his beloved really died.
With pain inside his veins, he fought the seal. It wasn't easy, like solving a huge puzzle with pieces as tiny as a glass shard. He needed to put it one by one with pain shooting through his entire body and somehow after he put it back in perfect order; creating a thick wall, he must break it apart.
He searched for the familiar power of a pink haired angel. The power wasn't strong, too weak actually, the power led him to a familiar balcony. His body trembled, 'Please- please wait for me, a little bit longer. Please!'
The source of the power was sitting tiredly, leaning to the balcony. His back facing V, he can hear the ragged breath from the older angel, V winced when he heard the other man coughed heavily.
"The sky is beautiful, isn't?" Jin asked, V took a deep breath as he choked out a sob.
"I- I'm so sorr-"
When Jin glanced at him from his shoulder, he still looked ethereal. His face, his pink hair, his broad shoulder, his tiny waist; V thought he was dreaming. He gazed at Taehyung with half-lidded eyes, the cracks were getting bigger, if he moves too much some pieces would fall and disappear; turning into silver dust.
Jin was fading.
"That boy really risked his life by standing against you wasn't?" V nodded, walking slowly but surely to the breaking male. He touched the crack on Jin's face, his power flowing to the tip of his fingers.
Jin gasped, his hands reached for V. The younger angel grabbed it, entwining his fingers with the crooked one. The cracks closed as he traced it with his fingertips; transferring more power to the dying angel before him.
"I'm a fool," he whispered against Jin's plump lips, their breath mingling into one. He touched Jin's face, traced it gently like admiring a masterpiece.
"Yes, you're," the older angel agreed, unshed tears on the corner of his eyes.
Jin's body trembled as he leaned closer to V, familiar scent he missed the most; the only reason why he still holding on, "yes, you're," he said before V silenced him with his own lips, the sun rose slowly as they kiss each other passionately.
After centuries, after so many years we can't really count; V once again cried. His black wings engulfed both of them; protecting Jin from anything dangerous, their body closer than anything, hands caressing each other. Forehead meeting the other's forehead, fingers interlocking with another, they started into each other eyes and smiled to each other.
"Jin," he called, the older angel nodded, "Jin," he croaked, hands hugging Jin's body as tight as possible. V buried his face to the crook of his neck, kissing it softly. He kept mumbling apologies, biting his lips and chanting a train of regrets again.
"I'm here," the pink haired kissed the tears away, "V, I'm here," he whispered as he tilted V's face to kiss him again, to shower him with chaste and soft kisses again. To finally have each other again, to love and pay the years wasted.
Finally.
In the end, it should be V who crack the glass between him and Jin, the barrier that kept them apart. It may take a very long time for them to be together, worse, they even dragged innocent souls to their complicated love story but at least, in the end, everything fell into their own places.
What an experience from life through the looking glass.
