Jessica rolled her way to her room and rolled the wheelchair to the center of the room. She sighed and looked around. She went to her computer and turned it on. Rescue came in and sat down next to the chair. She pet Rescue's head and turned on YouTube. She refreshed the page and found a notification for A PewDiePie video. She smiled. He always made her feel better. She clicked on it and what came on was (Video in the top)

After the video, Jessica was laughing and smiling brightly with laughter. Rescue was barking something that sounded like laughter. "splat!" Jessica laughed as she mimicked what happened in the video. As her laughter died down, her mother called "Jess! Dinner!" And Jessica nodded. "Coming!" she said and rolled her way out and to the dinner table, and Rescue followed.

In The middle of the meal, her mother had decided to break the silence with a question. "So how DID your spine break..?" her mother asked. Jessica stopped mid-bite and she put her fork down. "Is it.. Imortant to know..?" Jessica said. Her mother nodded "I would like to know" she said. Jessica took a bite of her food and chewed without answering. "Jess?" her father said. Jessica sighed. "Some boys were picking on Rescue and I went to tell them off and... One of them kicked me in the spine when I fell" she explained and took another bite of her salad.

Rescue whined and covered his face with his paw.

Mother sighed. "Jess what is the matter with you? Its just a dog" she said. That did it. Jessica glared at her mother. "I already told you! He's not just a dog, he's a hero!" she snapped and looked at the husky as he placed a paw on her leg. Jessica smiled and scratched the dogs ears. "May I be excused?" she said as she finished after a long awkward silence. Her parents nodded. "May I go outside?" she added. Her parents hesitated then said, "Don't leave the yard"

Jessica rolled her way out and into the front yard. She looked around at the starry sky. It was still cold, and the cold wind tickled her pale face and the dim light made her blue eyes shine slightly. She heard footsteps crunching in the snow. "Hey, you!" said a male voice. Jessica frowned. She knew that voice. There was an angry yell, "We for a bone to pick with you!"

Jessica's eyes widened. It couldn't be. Two boys stepped into the light, one with Brown hair the other with blonde. Browny and Blondy. "What do we do with her, Chris?" asked the Brown haired boy to the blonde haired boy who was apparently "Chris" "I say we give her another beating, Zach" Chris said to "Zach"

Rescue growled and barked at the boys and Chris ran up and held the dog down. Zach placed a muzzle on Rescue. "No!" Jessica cried, rolling to them and trying to reach Rescue. Chris grabbed Jessica by the shirt collar and threw her into the snow. She yelped at the sudden coldness and was taken back to the day that she had been attacked by a grizzly and fell and when she first fought the two boys. Chris took out a knife. "Say goodbye, Jessie" he sneered. Jessica panicked when the neighbors door opened. "Hey! I'm calling the cops! I saw your face and I heard your names!" cried an old, raspy sounding female's voice. The two boys chuckled. "Or what!?" Chris sneered. The woman apparently went back inside and came back out because she heard footsteps and then the footsteps came back and the sound if a gun being cocked sounded. There was a gunshot and Zach gave a cry of fear and pain. The two boys backed up and scampered away. Once The two boys were gone, The old woman came out and walked to Jessica. She helped her back into her wheelchair. "Goodness child are you alright?" she said. Jessica nodded. "Thank you, ma'am" she said. The woman nodded. "Call me Harin" she said. Jessica nodded. "You better head back in" Harin said. Jessica nodded. "I have to get Rescue out of the muzzle." Jessica said. Harin bent over and untied the muzzle from Rescue's mouth. Rescue ran to Jessica and covered her hand and arm and face in licks. Jessica laughed and Harin helped them back inside. Her parents were asleep, and Jessica went to her own room. "Thank you, Harin" she said before going into her room. She got herself into bed. Rescue jumped up and layed downt with her. Jessica let Rescue under the blanket and Rescue crawled under with her, snuggling close. Jessica closed her eyes and soon fell asleep.
