Chapter 24

I didn't upload for a week but I updated as fast as I could! A lot of things have been happening in school lately! And since I'm already a junior, it'll be hard for me to find some time to upload. But I'll try my best! I made a promise, after all!

Chapter 24

Being ignored wasn’t something Akira could stand. She kept firing the same questions over and over again but neither did Adam or her father paid any attention to her at all. They were busy in their little staring contest as the rest of the people within the room went to do their job.

“No! Let me go! Don’t touch me!” She heard Ann scream. “Akira!”

Akira dragged her gaze to the sound of the girl’s voice and saw the fact that she was being handled roughly by a few men. They shackled her wrist and bound her feet together with metal and began to drag her away.

“Hey you, stupid bastards!” She bellowed. “Let go of the girl!” She stood up, but was pulled back by the cuffs that held her and Adam together.

“Akira.” Her father said. “You will stay.”

“I can’t let them hurt Ann! Don’t expect me to stay still!” She argued.

“She’s a werewolf.” Her father answered. “Creatures like them shouldn’t be given mercy.”

“But that’s where you’re wrong, dad!” Akira spat back.

The words rolled out of her tongue before she even knew it. When she realized what she just said, even she was taken aback. Adam looked up to his mate with eyes riddled of disbelief and the same went for her father as well.

“Akira.” Michael addressed his daughter in a reprimanding manner. “Do you even know what you’re saying?”

Too shocked to even speak, Akira remained silent. “. . .”

“Being held captive for a few days made you think different, I see. It’s more of a reason why this has to stop. Break those cuffs and bind him immediately.”

When he said the same command for the second time, Bradley unhesitatingly came forward and crushed it in his fists like it was nothing.

      “I knew I should’ve gotten myself stronger cuffs.”Adam chuckled.

“Make sure to tape his mouth shut and lock him up with power-draining shackles.”

“Akira, come with me.” Michael grabbed the wrist of her daughter and dragged her towards the car. “Make sure not to stray too far. I don’t want my daughter screaming in pain later.”

“Understood.” His men answered, saluting Michael as if he was some sort of general in an army.

“Dad.” Akira whispered in a low, confused voice as she was forcibly forced into riding the vehicle.

She kept glancing back and forth between where she was walking to and back at the now weak-looking Adam who was practically being dragged to the car before the one she was going to ride.

‘Why?’ She mentally inquired. ‘Why didn’t you fight back?’

The girl felt utterly confused with the current situation. Adam was strong enough to fight back against all of them but he didn’t even dare raise a finger when her father arrived. Besides, she was also puzzled about why she was weirdly feeling worried over the guy who took her against her will and did all sorts unimaginable things like kissing her. Wasn’t this what she wanted? To finally be back in the arms of the father she vowed to go back to? Why did she feel like she was forcing herself to do something she didn’t want? And why does her heart feel like it’s breaking apart after she saw Adam being dragged away like some sort of animal?

Reluctantly taking her seat inside the car, Akira settled on the cushioned seats with an unsatisfied and worried expression on her face. She glared at her father who came in after her and casually ordered the driver to start the car.

“Dad.” She repeated, now with a tone of anger. “What the hell is going on? Why? Who the hell are you anyway?”

“It’s about time you know.” He sighed. “Both you and I have a hunter’s blood—not just any normal blood. Unlike those horrid creatures who have the ability to transform into that of a body of a wolf at will, we hunters are more like superhuman that have extraordinary abilities.”

“I don’t understand. Everybody back in the pack-house kept telling me that I, somehow, must have a blood of a werewolf running within me since I became ‘mates’ with one. What exactly am I?”

“You’re a crossbreed between a werewolf and a hunter.” He answered, but his expression darkened all of a sudden. “But bear in mind that you are not mates with that monster, do you hear me?”

“. . .” He was answered by silence and instead received an intimidating glare from his daughter.

“You’re mother was a werewolf as well.” He told her. “I found her during one of my hunts and fell in love with her, so I took her with me. You were the result of it all. But she was taken by those disgusting monsters and was never seen again. It’s probable that they already had her killed.”

      “But . . . dad . . .” Akira stammered. “You do not have the blood of a werewolf . . . so how come . . .”

      “I don’t. It was feelings.”

“But you once loved a werewolf! You should be the one who understands them best! They aren’t monsters so stop calling them that! They’re just like any other people! They are born, they live, and then they die!”

“Listen to you!” Her dad bellowed. “Do you even hear yourself? Your mother was not like those creatures, you hear me?! She may have been a werewolf but she wasn’t like them!”

      “That’s not true!”

“Akira!” Michael grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her as if trying to knock some sense into her head. “You are not mates with that guy. Look what he’s done to you! Do you even realize how stupid you sound right now?!”

Akira fell silent and she stared into space, realization dawning at her. She got lost into her own thought and began chanting the word ‘why’ repeatedly in her mind.

She didn’t realize she was being dragged forcibly into some large house by her father. His grip was solid and didn’t allow any chance for her to break free. She complained to him noisily but he paid her no attention and threw her into some room.

“You are not getting out of there until the mark between the two of you has been severed.”

Her heart began to beat wildly. “What are you planning?” She asked.

“What else?” He asked. “There is no other way when severing the forged bond of a werewolf than ending its life.” He then slammed the door close deafeningly.

Akira ran towards the door and started pounding on it as she heard the lock turn and the noisy clanging of keys. She began screaming at her father, her heart rate going faster in the minute.

“Dad! No! You can’t do that! Let me out of here! Damn it!” Seeing as pounding on it proved to be futile, she kicked it in frustration and raked her hands through her hair.

Now for some reason, she couldn’t help but feel worried for Adam and Ann. When her father said something with those eyes, he made sure to see it through the end. What was she supposed to do? She simply couldn’t allow that kind of thing to happen!
