My first day of school and already I was regretting it more than I ever believed I could. My first day of school and already Karl acted like I wasn't there and did something for me without my consent. My first day of school and I already wanted to kill someone.
He was wheeling me outside somewhere, past a few buildings and past a few tables that were carefully placed outside. It looked pretty amazing, especially the tables under the trees and the leaves between them.
"Why are you doing this?" I said through gritted teeth, lowering my eyelids and trying to control my anger through my breathing.
My dear brother forgot his classes would clash with my school tour and he couldn't even get my timetable so I could act like a normal student and get with my classes. But no, he passed me on to someone else entirely and now I stayed quiet as that said someone was pushing me around.
"I'm showing you around." Ghost said softly, confusing peeking out his voice.
"I didn't ask you to."
"But-"
"I did not ask you." I interjected harshly, cutting him short. He stopped pushing me from behind and I could hear him walking around the chair. Until he was right in front of me.
"Open your eyes." He quietly ordered. I stayed silent until I felt his hand on my knee. I swallowed down my gasp and the quick flutter in my stomach took me by surprise. How one innocent chaste touch made me feel like I was exploding was beyond me. I'm meant to kill this boy! Not react like he was the only male that had ever touched me.
I didn't want to admit that he really was the only non-blood male that touched me after the incident.
"No." I snapped back, trying my utmost to keep my knee from shaking. I silently moved it to the side and breathed out through my nose, relieved, when his hand dropped from my knee.
Only for it to land on the other knee. Goodness gracious!
I opened both my eyes, looking directly into his face. He was peering at me with a stupefied look and I almost chuckled at his expression. Regardless, I kept my cool and spoke, "I'd like it... if you didn't touch me."
He snatched his hand back instantly as though it caught fire on my knee. "I'm sorry," he mumbled, lowering his head. He had himself down on one knee, so his head was directly beyond my face and I nearly collapsed when a whiff of his scent reached me nose. It was different - almost wood like and it reeked of something else. Something I couldn't grasp that moment.
"Can you take me to the office please?" I asked him slowly, not wanting to spend another minute with him anymore. He was acting like I was a charity case - pushing me around and ordering me to do stuff. Someone could say I was overreacting but for something like that to come from Ghost... it made me feel worthless beyond belief. And I wasn't here to feel worthless.
"And what are you going to do there? Wait for Karl?" Ghost scoffed at me, lifting up his head and narrowing his eyes down on my face.
I frowned at him angrily. "No. I'm going to ask for my day schedule and get to class."
Ghost arched one eyebrow at me; almost looking at me like I was speaking in another language. "Newcomers don't have classes on the first day."
Oh. Right.
I didn't let that faze me. The fact that he somehow tripped me over with his words did not faze me. I simply shrugged at him. "I didn't know that so thanks for telling me."
"Why are you acting like this?" Ghost suddenly asked, leaning back on his knee and crossing his hands over his chest. I took it upon myself to examine his whole attire, taking in that he wore dark jeans and a black t-shirt. His brown hair was ruffled oddly, with odd strands sticking out here and there. I wanted to straighten it out for him, I really did.
"Acting like what?" I asked dubiously even though I knew what he meant.
"Like a cold bitch maybe?"
I caught my breath in my lungs. He did not faze me. He did not faze me. I kept repeating those words to myself and all the while, keeping my face straight and expressionless. "It keeps a nuisance away that manages to crawl right under my skin." I replied back with coolly.
"Good thing I'm persistent then. And I have a goal in mind." He said, the ends of his brown eyes coming together. He was provoking me. And getting deeper into my skin with just a few words.
"You'll have no way of reaching your goal." I told him, giving less thought on what exactly his goal was and more on scaring him away. I didn't need this. I didn't need him acting like I needed help.
I threw my head back, swallowing down the distress and the stabbing truth. I was never going to be normal.
"Ghost!" A feminine voice rang from behind us, the authority and annoyance that laced around her voice evident to both our ears. Ghost pushed himself off his knees and looked over my shoulder to see who it was. I tried my best to look but it was only so much my neck going crane around before it started throbbing.
A young middle aged woman stood with her arms crossed as she shot daggers at Ghost. Her face was of a stormy mask and I involuntary shivered at the look she was aiming onto Ghost.
"You were expected in my office at 9," she said slowly and made a great deal out of looking at her watch. She tapped the screen, keeping her eyes locked on a stiffened Ghost.
"Come on." She said and started to move. I then realised she payed zero attention my way and believe it or not, it felt good to not once be the elephant in the room - or this case, the tornado outside.
Ghost didn't follow after her. "But Lindsey! I'm showing a new student around!" He exclaimed, his face scrunching up tightly.
The woman stopped and flicked her head back. And looked straight at me. "I'm sure she won't mind-"
Ghost cut her off quickly. "No, she can't come to this."
I raised both my eyebrows at Ghost, surprised to see his hands shaking next to his sides. I don't know what came over me, or him for a matter but I found myself saying something I really did not want to say.
"I don't mind at all."
Ghost snapped his head down at me, clear horror emitting from him. But the woman, Lindsey, simply shrugged and motioned for me to come along. "Okay come along." I placed both hands on the wheels and started wheeling behind her, leaving Ghost to trail behind.

Throughout the whole way, I was biting my lips and pinching my self. Why? I kept asking myself. Why? Why?
Why did I think it was perfectly okay to tag along with Ghost - and it was evident, clear as crystal, that he did not want me here. Just as my arms started to complain with the amount of stress I was forcing upon it, Lindsey stopped in front of an office and opened the door casually. She held it wide open so I could come in and I shot her thankful smile.
I stopped at the edge of the circular table that sat right in the middle of the room, papers and books scattered all over the table. I spotted a file, with the name 'Leo Noah Baker' scribbled on the front.
"Take a seat," Lindsey instructed when she closed the door behind Ghost. He was standing at the other side of the table, stiffened and with his head lowered.
Why?
"Ghost, please sit down. You've already wasted valuable time." Lindsey muttered out a complain as she planted herself on the seat between Ghost and I. She reached for the file with his name on and started flickering through some papers that piled out of it.
"Right, so where did we get up to last session?" Lindsey asked no one in particular as she carried on flicking through the pile.
Ghost was still standing beyond me, rigid and looking not himself. His whole face had darkened and paled at the same time and he was watching me carefully. "Reed... Let me take you to the office," he said slowly with a strain in his voice.
I opened my mouth to tell him to get me out of here but Lindsey interjected with a snap of her head. "No. She's staying and you're going to finish this session. Right now." The finality in her tone was clear to both of us and Ghost, looking more than defeated, plummeted down onto his chair.
Lindsey slid over a piece of lined paper to him and a pen. She instructed silently with her head, for Ghost to start whatever he had to start.
Ghost picked up the pen slowly and eyed the piece of paper. "What do you want me to write?" He asked slowly.
Lindsey fiddled with a set of papers first before she slid him another piece of paper. "Anything. But first tell me what you're planning on writing."
Ghost narrowed his eyes at Lindsey, looking annoyed that she was telling to do something. "I've got it all in my head but I can't write it," he replied back smoothly.
Lindsey eyed Ghost carefully. "You say that every time Ghost."
Ghost glared at Lindsey darkly. "Well it's not as if dyslexia comes and go's Lindsey. It stays."
