Chapter 7

Greypaw glanced at his sister in a confused face. Then he remembered back when he was a kit. She had a dream of the camp flooding in and she was drowning. It was a crazy dream, but he had a more cool dream.

"Yeah? What about it?" Greypaw asked.

Rainpaw shuffled her paws and said, "Spiderwillow said it was a...," she looked around the camp seeing if anyone was near, "a prophecy,"

Greypaw rolled his eyes and said, "Then my dream must have been an omen! You going to grow huge! You're the greatest hunter! Your destiny is a warrior!"

Rainpaw cuffed his ear and said, "I'm serious! She told me this prophecy, The storm will come and clear away the fog to find the color,"

Greypaw could tell by the way she said it that she wasn't joking around. That prophecy seemed impossible to figure out. Storm....storm...there was no cat with the name storm. Maybe it wasn't the name storm, but something leading towards it...like Rain!

"Rain! You're the storm!" Greypaw suggested.

Rainpaw shrugged and said, "It could be any cat, besides I'm not a storm, I'm just an apprentice. I would never be in a StarClan prophecy,"

Greypaw shrugged and yawned saying, "Well it's getting late and I'm wanna sleep, so farewell my dear sister,"

Greypaw padded over to the apprentice den and slept next to his brother. He felt the rhythm of his breathing make him fall asleep more.

In His Dream

Greypaw woke up in a field. He didn't know where he was. Where was the HawkClan camp? There was no forest anywhere. He must be dead. Did he die in his sleep? He must have.

He looked around until he saw a red furred cat looking at him. His eyes were the deepest amber he's ever seen on a cat. He looked more into his pelt and saw that tiny specks of stars were shining on him.

"Am I dead?" Greypaw asked. This must of been StarClan he thought it'd be more forestry like in the real world.

"Of course not, you've got plenty of moons to live, unless you aren't smart. I see many possibilities where you could die," the cat said. He noticed he wasn't that bigger than a newly made warrior. He must be an apprentice.

"What! Don't tell me how I could die! I'd be paranoid!" Greypaw hissed at the cat.

"The names Reedpaw. I come here too I guess 'warn you' the StarClan Cats told me that what I should say, but I'm not sure if it's a warning, more like advice,"

Greypaw smiled and waited for Reedpaw to get to the point. Then he realized he was getting a warning from StarClan! Shouldn't this be Rainpaw's dream?

Reedpaw eyes shined brightly and he said, "You will have to choose between the storm or the beating heart,"

Greypaw shook as he had the same tone that Rainpaw had when she told him the prophecy, what was the meaning of using that scary voice. He shivered and said, "Whats that suppose to mean?"

Reedpaw shrugged and said, "I have no idea, StarClan doesn't know everything." He began to walk away as to signify leaving and him waking up.

Greypaw stopped him and asked, "How'd you die?"

Reedpaw smiled and said, "I died from drowning in the rushing river. I was trapped in the reeds....how ironic. My warrior names Reedwhisker,"

Greypaw smiled, Reedwhisker. He should ask around camp who he was, maybe some cat would know. He thought about it before remembering this was a medicine cat's job.

Next Morning

Greypaw suddenly woke up from the sound of his mentor. Shadewing was hissing in his ear to wake up. He yawned and said, "Okay, I'm up,"

Greypaw saw his mentor's green eyes show impatience and disgust. He groomed his fur and asked, "What are we doing today?"

Shadewing licked his paw and swiped it over his ear saying, "We're going to battle train if you ever get your butt up,"

Greypaw groaned and glanced around the apprentice den. The others were still asleep and here he was waking up when the sun was barely in the sky. He stretched out and followed his mentor outside of the den.

Thornstar's kits were racing out of the nursery. They tackled him and he fell down. He still didn't know their names.

"Jynxkit, Ravenkit! Don't run into apprentices trying to do their jobs!" the nursery queen, Beechshade yowled.

Greypaw quickly got up and looked at the kits. Jynxkit was a dark brown tom, his fur was fleck with dots of light brown. He looked kinda like his darker black brother Ravenkit. His green eyes looked deeply into his.

Thornstar came out of his den and looked at his two kits saying, "Beechshade, your kits are beautiful,"

Beechshade purred and said, "It's only because of you, my love,"

Thornstar purred and jumped down from the high stump which his den was located near. He padded over towards the two cats. He licked their heads and said, "No, they mostly get it from you,"

Greypaw rolled his eyes and padded over to his mentor. He looked sad from looking at the two mates. He must have been sad because of Brightwatcher's rejection of him.

Greypaw looked at Shadewing and asked, "Who's Reedwhisker?"

Shadewing looked shocked and said, "How do you know about him?"

Greypaw shrugged and Shadewing looked suspiciously at him and said, "His name when he died was Reedpaw, but Yellowstar gave him a warrior name Reedwhisker when we found his body in the river. He was being chased by badgers and fell into the river. I was a kit back then. I don't remember much, but my mother told me how he was a great apprentice,"

Greypaw smiled and waited for Shadewing to lead him out into the clearing. He wondered if he should ask Thornstar about Reedwhisker. They went into the training clearing and Shadewing crouched down.

Greypaw waited for Shadewing to show him some kind of battling technique, but he just stayed there silent. Shadewing leaped at him and Greypaw ran backward, he saw that Shadewing's eyes showed no meaning of anger.

This was the training, figuring out how to fight. He sheathed his claws in and tried to rake Shadewing's face, but he was too slow and Shadewing sprinted beside him and pushed him to the ground. He felt dazed but stood up. He got ready for another attack of Shadewing's, but nothing happened.

He didn't see his black fur anywhere. He braced himself for the attack and felt paws on his back. He fell down from the weight and saw green eyes that seemed to show anger, fear, sadness and even pity. It was Shadewing, but yet he wasn't him.

Greypaw felt his head hurt and he groaned and suddenly he felt the sharpest pain in his head. He yowled his lungs out and Shadewing was standing their eyes widen.

His mouth opened, but it wasn't his voice, "The storm will dry up, but the misery will last until it's forgotten,"

He felt the area around him spin and spin until he was on the ground, he could hear mumbled voice in the distance. He saw Shadewing. He was howling for someone to come......

His world blacked out, he saw stars in the sky...., but it was morning.

He woke up and saw Spiderwillow and his sister Rainpaw watching him. He looked around and mumbled, "Where am I?"

Spiderwillow opened his mouth with her paws and gave him some kind of liquid. It was sweet, Rainpaw gave him a bundle of herbs.

Greypaw got up and ate the herbs Rainpaw had given him. He remembered how his head was searing with pain as he said these words, The storm will dry up, but the misery will last until it's forgotten.
