It had taken several moons for Flamepaw's wound to heal, and then for him to finish his warrior training, but the day had finally come. His warrior ceremony. Because of the delay, Raccoontail and Rabbithop had a.ready become warriors, but Flamepaw didn't mind.
Flamepaw's shoulder wound had left a scar, but Flamepaw didn't care. He stepped forwards as Adderstar called a Clan Meeting.
"Flamepaw, do you promise to protect and uphold the warrior code, even at the cost of your life?" Adderstar asked.
"I do." Flamepaw nodded.
"Then from this day forwards, you shall be known as Flameheart." Adderstar meowed, "For your blazing passion and bravery."
Flameheart puffed out his chest, eyes wide with pride. Adderstar dipped his head and Flameheart padded up to him, licking his shoulder. He purred as the Clan cheered his bame, but then a call rang out over the horizon that made him stop in his tracks.
"ShadeClan! Attack!"
Flameheart yowled in shock as cats flooded into the clearing. He snarled as he spotted a familliar silver tabby in the ShadeClan ranks and launched himself at her. "Mistpaw!"
"Mistheart!" She yowled, kicking him away. "Stop!"
"Never!" Flameheart snarled. "You're a traitor!"
"No!" Mistheart yowled. "We were meant to be in ShadeClan, Feathersky was born there!"
"You abandoned your family!" Flameheart snarled, leaping at her and sinking his teeth into her neck. She rolled ahd kicked him away, hissing. "No, I'm not! You're my brother, you have to-"
"You gave up the right to be my sister when you chose Crowstar!" Flameheart snarled, leaping at her again and dlashing her flanks. Mistheart backed up and slashed at his nose, then dashed off into the crowd.
Flameheart made to chase after her, then he spotted something.
The brown she-cat, who Flameheart had learned to be Stagfeather, was staring at Raccoontail. They both weren't making any moves to attack, simply...staring.
Flameheart watched in surprise as Raccoontail padded up to her and murmured something in her ear. Stagfeather looked worried but nodded and dashed off.
"What was that?" Flameheart meowed, padding up to her. Raccoontail jumped. "O-Oh! Flameheart, I-"
"Did you tell her to leave?" Flameheart guessed. Raccoontail looked at her paws and nodded. "I can't fight her, Flameheart, I...I love her."
Flameheart opened his mouth to tell her that it was okay when a familiar screech rang out in the air. Both of them spun on their heels. "Firepelt!"
Flameheart and Raccoontail dashed over to see Crowstar standing over a limp pile of ginger fur. He peeled his lips back in a snarl. "A life for a life, 'friend'."
Flameheart let out a screech of fury and leapt at Crowstar, sending them both tumbling backwards. Racccoontail jlined in the assault, slashing at his flank and leaving a deep wound. Flameheart pushed Crowstar to the ground and slashed at his stomach. Raccoontail scrapped her claws through the dirt and slashed at his flank again, leaving dirt in the wound. Crowstar yowled and flung Flameheart away, turning to face Raccoontail. Flameheart snarled and leapt at him again, latching onto his back. Crowstar spun and snarled.
"Leave!" Flameheart hissed. "Or we'll kill you!"
Crowstar hissed. "I'd like to see you try!"
Raccoontail lunged at his throat but he batted her away. She hit the ground with a thump but rose to her paws again. Flameheart began tearing viciously at Crowstar's back. Crowstar yowled and kicked him off. "ShadeClan! Retreat!" He turned back to Flameheart and Raccoontail. "I'll be back, I'll be back with more warriors than you'll ever see in your pathetic lives, and I'll kill you, all of you! Only Mistheart will be spared, for she knows where she's supposed to be. You and all your other DawnClan fools will die!"
"We'll take ShadeClan down with us!" Flameheart spat as Crowstar dashed off.
