Poppykit blinked twice, looking around with blue eyes and spotting a darker brown kit. Waddling over to her, he stumbled and fell. The only other nursing queen besides the two kits' mothers, Ashtail and Horseflower, looked at them happily. Two more kits waddled up to them, their green eyes wide as they examined the two kits.

"Hey you da new kits?" One of them, a pure-black one mewed, her tail wiggling. Just then, Poppykit spotted white patches on both the mother and the kits, then looked to his white-and-gray spots, then to Lilykit's white paws. He blinked at their mothers, seeing white on Ashtail and Horseflower.

"We rewated?" Poppykit squeaked.

"Maybe! Maybe!" The black one mewed again. "I is Firekit, I be apprentice soon like Songkit and Honeykit!" She mewed happily.

"I.. Poppykit." He mewed in return. Just then, everything happened at once. A fire raged outside. Some cat was running in, before the cat slashed each queen's throats and went for the kits. The fire ran into the nursery, burning the moss and thickets away, and, reculantly, the kits ran out of the nursery into the forest. Just then, they realized that Songkit was missing, and saw the cat with another cat, kill Songkit. They gasped and hid in the safest place- Inside a massive rabbit burrow. The rabbits looked astonished, and Firekit killed them for the kits to enjoy.

"Did leader jus kill mama? And Song?" The quiet brown, black and white one squeaked to Firekit.

"I fink so, Bubblekit." Firekit mewed. "I fink so."

Five moons have passed since Amberstar died by the fire, and her former apprentice, Brokenmoon, had become the leader. She claims she realized her mistake of siding with Amberstar, and promised to be a good leader. Not many warriors were left after the murder, though, and only Littlefeather, Vinepool and Hawkheart remained.

"I will mentor young Lilypaw. Littlefeather, you have Firepaw. Vinepool has Bubblepaw.. and Hawkheart has Poppypaw." Brokenstar yowled and leapt off. Poppypaw and Lilypaw met up with Hawkheart and Brokenstar, before they headed off.

"You ready for training?" Brokenstar meowed, and Hawkheart stretched.

"Yeah! Can we train in hunting?" Poppypaw begged, before a huge badger ran up to them. It growled and went straight for Poppypaw.
