Yellowfang

Hey, guys. This is my version of how Yellowfang and her relationship with Raggedpelt went,  instead of the way it really happened. Sorry if it's crappy, I'm writing this on my tablet, and the touch screen on here sucks...

Yellowfang looked everywhere. No one could be seen. Not a cat in sight, all clear. She ran as fast as her paws could carry her. The scent of her mate seemed to engulf her. What was happening? She was supposed to be a medicine cat for crying out loud!
Yellowfang knew she shouldn't do what she was doing. Especially with her apprenticeship only a few dawns away.

Yellowfang sighed and continued padding on. "Wait! Yellowfang! I-" Raggedpelt's voice soothed her. She stopped to breathe in the warming scent. "What?" She turned around and hissed. She didn't mean to seem angry, but she couldn't help it. He had refused to talk to her ever since she told him of her new apprenticeship.
"What?" She asked again, this time forcing her fur lie flat.

"I- I need to talk to you." Raggedpelt's voice seemed gentle. Without hesitation, they both rubbed their muzzles together.
She sighed, silently begging for him to continue.
"Foxheart," he began. Yellowfang's claws automatically slid out. Her eyes stung at the she cat that fit her name.

"She-" Raggedpelt paused, "She wants to have my kits." Raggedpelt let out a depressed sigh, as if he had been holding back. Yellowfang let out a hiss, pulled back and fluffed up her matted fur.
"I knew this was coming!" She spat, turning tail and running into the familiar forest. She didn't stop until she reached the thunerpath that separated ShadowClan and the other three clans.

She stood staring at the countless monsters that whizzed by. She couldn't help but think that Raggedpelt would never love her. The rejection, the betrayal, the silence. It was all slowly eating her away, bit by bit.
"I'm sorry, but I can't let the clan know that we have feelings for each other." Raggedpelt stood behind her. She turned around furious. "The clan?! Or yourself? What love?!" She scraped the pine needles under her claws aggressively.

"Listen! I love you, Yellowfang! Why don't you understand that? If the clan found out, they would drive you out! Or even-"
"Or even what? Worse, drive you out?!"

The question seemed to cause the silence. Raggedpelt looked away. "No, Yellowfang. They might kill you. Go and don't ever talk to me again." Raggedpelt left. Yellowfang watched his steps, wondering if he was actually going to have kits with Foxheart.
He wouldn't. But half of her didn't believe he wouldn't.

He really does love her. Another thought shook her fur. He doesn't love me anymore. Yellowfang snarled and swatted the pine needles.

A full moon passed by, and her training as the new medicine cat left her exhausted. Raggedpelt had been made deputy, and she was a medicine cat apprentice.

"Raggedpelt? Can you organize patrols a little early? I wanna go on patrol." Cedarstar mewed. Raggedpelt dipped his head and began sending out patrols. Everyday when he would organize patrols, Yellowfang watched with envy.
He never payed any attention to her stares, or even glanced at her.

Her claws itched to slice into nice, soft, fur. She hadn't been able to go hunting since her apprenticeship because Sagewhisker always had her working and sorting herbs.

"Can I go on a patrol?" She finally asked her mentor. "To look for herbs?" She added. "It won't be long. We're out of yarrow and juniper leaves." She chided.

The old she cat gave her a look of suspicion before slowly nodding.
"Go on Cedarstar's patrol. Keep an eye on him, I think he's been hiding wounds." She ordered, and with a sweep of her tail, she was gone.
She padded over to Raggedpelt. "I need to go on Cedarstar's patrol. Sagewhisker's orders." She meowed hesitantly.

Raggedpelt looked like he was going to retort something, but Cloudpaw and Nightpelt were to close by, and she was sure he didn't want them to over hear the deputy arguing with the medicine cat.

Raggedpelt turned to Cloudpaw. "You're coming too." He meowed briskly, and disappeared to Cedarstar's den. "Why are you going on patrol?" Cloudpaw asked. "Because I need to get some herbs."
She meowed, flicking her tail tip.
"Oh, okay." Cloudpaw sounded amused when he started batting at leaves.

Nightpelt left and padded away with a patrol that Nutwhisker was leading.

A thought seemed to fog her mind when Raggedpelt and Cedarstar padded out of the den. Raggedpelt is Cloudpaw's mentor! Mentally, Yellowfang argued with herself whether or not that was a bad thing. Maybe I'll be able to talk to him alone.
Cedarstar coughed quietly. Foxheart padded up to stand beside Raggedpelt. Her green eyes seemed to burn through Yellowfang.

Unless Raggedpelt is the reason Cedarstar is on the patrol.

"I'll join you. I haven't been on a hunting patrol in moons."

"

Oh really? You were just on yesterday." Foxheart rolled her eyes i  respknse, purring agaisnt the deputy.
Yellowfang turned away, hiding her emotions.

"Are you joining us?" Cedarstar asked Yellowfang. Yellowfang dipped her head. When she glanced at Raggedpelt, he turned away and started to talk to Cloudpaw. "Remember, frogs don't climb trees, but squirrels do." He half joked.

Cloudpaw nodded seriously.

The patrol left camp and padded through the territory.

"Wait, there's some here." Raggedpelt and Cedarstar stopped at the head of the patrol.  Yellowfang noticed Foxheart trying to twine her tail with Raggedpelt's, but he quickly turned away. "Yellowfang," Yellowfang's pelt tingled with excitement.
"Do you need help carrying those back to camp?" Yellowfang hissed at her former mate's question.

"No!" She picked up the yarrow and marched back to camp.

When she arrived, a plump Rowanberry dazed out in the sun. Cedarstar's patrol had already returned. Must've been bad hunting.

Rowanberry noticed her storming in through the clearing and came to calm her. Her sister lay her tail on her flank. Yellowfang softened and her sister muzzled her. "Is something wrong?" Rowanberry cooed.

Yellowfang wished to tell her everything that had happened in the past two moons, but she couldn't tell anyone.
If anyone in the clan found out a medicine cat had feelings for the clan deputy, I would be exiled. Yellowfang didn't even care about the consequences that Raggedpelt could face.

So what if he can't be leader?  I could get banished! Does he think that not being leader is worse?

"No, I'm fine. I just, need some rest," she sighed. After dropping off the herbs and sorting them, Yellowfang crawled into her nest. She felt comfortable, but just couldn't manage to fall asleep.

"I'm going out for a walk." She muttered. Sagewhisker nodded, continuing to murmur to herself.
Archeye, Brightflower, Scorchwind, Nightpelt, and Finchflight were the only cats in the clearing.

"Couldn't sleep?" Scorchwind snickered. "Yeah. That's it." She curled her lip.
"Where's Raggedpelt?" She asked. "Still on patrol. So, why'd you freak out at him? He offered help." Scorchwind joked.

She snarled. "Back off, Scorchwind! Just because I'm a medicine cat doesn't mean that I wouldn't give you a few scratches!" She bared her teeth. Scorchwind took a step forward. "I'll do what I please." He meowed. Toms!
"Who told you?" She asked, completely off topic.
Scorchwind chuckled. "Foxheart might've said something." He flicked his tail as Foxheart padded out from the nursery.

Foxheart let out a mrrrow of laughter. Yellowfang looked her over with a hateful gaze. She wasn't expecting kits, that was the good news. Yellowfang would've been able to feel it if she was.

Yellowfang curled her lip and raced out of camp, passing a confused Cedarstar. She slowed once she was far enough from camp. The carrionplace reek seemed stronger. Dumb rats.

She climbed up into an old pine tree. She perched there until dusk came to view. A rustle shook a bush below her. "Whose there?" She snarled. When an answer didn't come, she prepared to leap down.

When a bundle of fur darted out from the bush, Yellowfang leaped. "Fox brain! Sneaking into ShadowClan territory?" She hissed, clawing a fury.
"Ow!" A familiar voice hissed, shoving her off.

"Who do-" she hissed, but then realized who the cat was that she had attacked. "What do you want?" She curled her lip. Raggedpelt shook his fur.
"Nothing! But now, thanks to you, the clan will go hungry!" He hissed, claws outstretched. "Yeah! Me, alright! All I've ever done is be some stupid cat with a stick in her jaws just for some flea bag! All for you!" She snarled. Her pelt bristled.

Raggedpelt closed his jaw, blinked, and made his fur lie flat.
"What do you mean?" He asked softly. Yellowfang saw the cat she once loved eyes' soften.

"Everything I've ever done has been for you. The only thing I haven't done for you is be your mate." She muttered crossly. She looked up at Raggedpelt. His eyes seemed hurt. We turned around and started to pad away.

"Yellowfang!" Raggedpelt whispered. Raggedpelt's fur brushed hers. She pulled away. "Go away." She muttered.
Raggedpelt smiled to her surprise. "I had no idea you felt this way. Yellowfang, I can't go." He meowed. She looked up at him. "I love you to much to do that."

His words left her speechless.

"No you don't."

Raggedpelt looked taken aback. "Yes, I do." He insisted.
She looked at him with hurt eyes. "No, you love Foxheart now, and I've accepted that." She pulled away. She couldn't let him take control of her again.

"What are you talking about? I don't love her! I love you!"  He meowed sharply. "Why do you always think that I'm some no good rogue? I love you, and you ignore me for moons! All I ever did was love, and then you decide to be a medicine cat! And, of course, you attack me, saying that I don't love you!" He ranted on. "How was that for love? I hope you and your StarClan friends get along great, because I'm hoping you join them soon!"

Yellowfang's jaw dropped. She backed away, scared, and ran into she reached the thunderpath. She went to race across, but a monster blared past. She went to run across again. When she stepped forward, a hurling ball of fur knocked her to the ground.

She began to hiss, but Raggedpelt held her down. "What are you doing?" She snarled. "Keeping you alive!" He scowled, dragging her away from the thunderpath. "I'm not a kit!" She hissed.
"Then stop acting like one." He muttered.

"You said you didn't want me alive anyway!" She struggled but failed.
Raggedpelt ignored her comment of .
She huffed a sigh. He dragged her by the scruff to a hollowed out tree. There was a nest, recently used.

"What is this place?" She asked, not feeling as annoyed.

We passed the scent markers! We're not even in clan territory anymore! "Why are we here?" She inquired, sliding into the den.
"It's nice, isn't it?" Raggedpelt asked, following her in.

"I guess?" She meowed. "Why are we here?"
"Because I love you, Yellowfang. And I want you know that." He meowed, licking her ears. A tingle of pleasure shivered down her spine. "No! I can't do this, we can't do this." She stood up and went to leave.
Raggedpelt blocked her way. "Okay, but before you go," he murmured. "Tell me if you love me." He smirked, making her pelt bristle. Do I? Of course not! I'm a medicine cat for crying out loud!
I can't have a mate!
She dipped her head, looked him in the eyes, and pushed her way past.

Yellowfang padded back to camp. Even though she didn't look back, she could feel Raggedpelt's gaze burning into her pelt.

She padded away more swiftly.

Another few moons passed, and a horrible sickness struck camp. The cat in the worse conditions was Cedarstar. Sagewhisker didn't know what sickness it was, but she knew it was fatal.

"Is he going to be okay?" Raggedpelt would ask, every morning. Yellowfang knew Raggedpelt didn't want his leader to die, but as also had figured out long ago that his ambitions were strong.

Cedarstar had been refined to them medicine cats' den. He was growing weaker every sunrise.

Sagewhisker padded out of the medicine den stiffly. The she cat looked nearly half dead. "He's dead." Her voice trailed off. "What?" Raggedpelt hissed, hackles raised. "He hunts with StarClan now." She murmured. Yellowfang took in the news slowly. Her leader was dead. Raggedpelt would be leader. Sagewhisker coughed. She watched her mentor fall to the ground with sudden hurt.

"Sagewhisker!" She shrieked. She muzzled her throat, checking for a pulse. Nothing gave her any reassurance. "No!" She yelled. "I'm not ready." She whispered, backing away. "You are ready, Yellowfang. Stay strong..." A soft voice murmured in her ear.

A dawn passed, and Raggedpelt was ready to go to the Moonstone to receive his nine lives.

"Eat these." She meowed, pushing the bundle closer to him. The tom obeyed. "What do they do?" He asked. "They'll keep your strength up." She replied. Raggedpelt looked her in the eye after swallowing. "I'm sorry." He whispered. "I know." She replied, taking her own herbs.

Yellowfang and Raggedpelt padded out of the den. Lizardfang, and a few apprentices were carrying Cedarstar's lifeless body away after a night of mourning. "Let's go." She meowed.

"Cloudpelt is in charge!" Raggedpelt called before exiting.

The two cats padded away. "I've missed talking with you." He meowed suddenly. She perked her head up. "What do you mean?"

Instead of replying, Raggedpelt stopped. "Because, Yellowfang. I am the sky, you are my stars. I am leader, and you're a medicine cat." He muttered and continued the long trek to Mouther-mouth.

She scoffed. "Okay, furball. It wasn't my decision." She retorted. She ignored what he had said altogether, though. He added the last part, and doing that, he made the moment go bad. It means nothing when you add something even a slightest bit harsh.

"Do you think I'll get my nine lives?" Raggedpelt asked bluntly, staring straight forward. They could smell the faint scent of the nearing thunderpath. "What?" She asked.

"Do you think I'll get my nine lives?" He repeated.
"Yes. Why wouldn't you?" She meowed.

"I don't know," He murmured, taking in a breath as he walked closer to her. She went to move away but let the moment take her. She hated him, but couldn't help wanting to feel his touch, listen to his soft words.

"Maybe, well, since I'm half kittypet, and," Yellowfang stopped in her tracks, the moment passing away.
"Kittypet?" Her eyes glowed. "If you were even the slightest bit kittypet, you wouldn't be here. You would be smuggling rabbit droppings beside a twoleg in their nest if you were a kittypet, not going to recieve your nine lives to become ShadowClan's leader."

Raggedpelt ducked his head apologetically. "You're right." His eyes burned into hers. She felt the need for him grow stronger.
"I'm ShadowClan's leader, not a kittypet. If StarClan doesn't except me as that, then its on them." Raggedpelt marched on wih confidence.

They reached Mothermouth after the sun began to set. "I'm starving." Raggedpelt mumbled, crouching beside Yellowfang.

"Let's hunt."

So, that's the ending! It was so long, lol. Took forever to get done though. Merry Holidays! So, just so this is clear, Foxheart did end up dying, and then Yellowfang had Foxkit, Brokenkit, and Shadekit. No cat told anyone about their little secret.. The entire clan knew too. They all ended up being a special cat in the clan, and after Raggedstar died, Yellowfang couldn't bare to be in ShadowClan anymore, and then  she left and had an apprentice named Cinderpaw. Everything ended up how it is today with some magical help... The end!
