Chapter 1

"Come on Yellowpaw! Let's play!" Mosspaw prodded the sleeping lump of fur with her paw. He shifted.
"Not now, Mosspaw..." he mumbled.
"I want to play! Yellowpaw!" She cried, unsheathing and sheathing her claws on his side.
"Ow! Hey! Mosspaw, we aren't kits anymore, so stop acting like one!" Yellowpaw grumbled. And added: "Now if you'll excuse me, I have some napping to do."
"If you want, Mosspaw, you can play with me," Dapplepaw meowed as she shook moss from her fur.
Mosspaw nodded eagerly, and bounded out of the den. Cold winds struck her face. It felt as if she was running, running through the forest. The wind picked up pine needles and leaves... they brushed past her pelt.
Mosspaw shook her head. Of course she wouldn't abandon her home. She had her mother, father, lazy brother, and best friend. Maybe that was just a dream, a weird, realistic dream; after all, she had it when she was a kit.
"Mosspaw? Are you a medicine cat now? You look like your receiving a sign," Dapplepaw joked and Mosspaw snapped back into reality, though she detected a faint edge to Dapplepaw's voice.
"N-no, I'm fine, Dapplepaw. I just remembered something as a kit, that's all," Mosspaw explained and hoped her voice remained steady. Dapplepaw flicked her ears, but said nothing.
"Hey! I just remembered! Sunflower is kitting today or something!" Mosspaw found herself mewing. Dapplepaw looked at her with eyes that sparkled with excitement.
They sprinted towards the old badger den with was the nursery. The scent of kit reached Mosspaw's mouth, she peered in, Dapplepaw doing the same.
Sunflower was curled up sleeping beside an unfamiliar ball of reddish-brown fur.
"Oh, Mosspaw. And Dapplepaw, hi! I just helped your mother, Mosspaw, choose a name for her new annoying kit. His name is Ratkit for his ears," Darksky poked her head out of the nursery. "Soon I'll be leaving this den once Crowkit is ready."
Ratkit, Mosspaw thought to herself. Maybe he won't be lazy like Yellowpaw.
"Are we going to play or what?" Dapplepaw nudged Mosspaw's side. "Before our mentors drag us somewhere."
"Too late! Sorry guys, Mosspaw I think you should stop getting lost in thought," Mudtail and Jaypelt were padding towards them. Mosspaw and Dapplepaw heaved a sigh, and went to they're mentors to train.

"No, no! A your going to scare away the prey if you do that! Here, let me show you," Mudtail meowed as he showed Mosspaw how to properly hunt a rabbit.
"That's what I'm doing Mudtail!" Mosspaw said with a frustrated sigh.
"Okay! Just making sure!" Mudtail mewed defensively, with a small chuckle he added: "don't get upset over small things, you'll get there eventually. One day you will have a big thing to worry about, and you'll know what to do when."
"But I already have a big thing that I'm worrying about! Ever since I was a kit! I don't know-" Mosspaw cried, but quickly shut her mouth shut once she realized what she was saying. Mudtail looked at her strangely, shook it off and dismissed her.
Mosspaw padded back to camp silent, her mentor behind her but not too close.
A now awake Yellowpaw said: "hello," but she ignored him. He followed, though.
"What's wrong with you? First you want to play with me and now you won't even talk to me!" Yellowpaw lowered his voice. "It's not about the dream, is it?"
Mosspaw, Yellowpaw and their mother, Sunflower decided to keep Mosspaw's dream a secret; even from Stonefall. Sunflower forgot about it but Mosspaw keeps Yellowpaw updated on how she feels. He thinks it's an omen, she thinks not.
"Mudtail told me that I will know what to do when a big thing happens in life, I almost cracked." Mosspaw said bluntly.
"You gotta be careful, he could easily tell Redthroat about it," Yellowpaw meowed in his know-it-all tone. Mosspaw flattened her ears and hissed at him.
"I'm just saying, but then again, telling Redthroat ain't such a bad idea..." Yellowpaw hinted.
"Stop, just stop, okay? Leave me alone." Mosspaw growled as she darted for the dug-out-abandoned rabbit hole that SilverClan used as the entrance and exit.
