I found myself in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by vast land filled with dirt and grass. The sky was blue with clouds and the air was cold. I had time travelled back over sixteen years ago to where I was at almost seventeen years ago since that's how the machine worked. It seemed like over sixteen years ago, I was in the middle of nowhere.

"This looks quite familiar," I muttered to myself as I wandered further through the void land. I was looking for the cabin, the cabin of my real parents because I was sure that was where I was at around this same time.

I then spotted what I wanted to see: the small cabin near the horizon of the land, where the land was next to the sky.

With a spark of hope, I began sprinting toward it with all of my energy, seeing it get closer and closer to me.

I then halted in front of it and looked at it thoroughly.

It was a simple cabin made out of wood with a single door and no windows. There were some tools that seemed like for gardening around it, but other than that, it was surrounded by land. No car, no garage, no gate, just the cabin and the land.

I was standing in front of it, wondering if I should go in or not. But then the time travelling rule popping in my mind: If I see my past self, then disaster will strike. I nodded my head as I backed away from the cabin. "I'll not go inside..."

I then heard voices coming out from the wooden shack. I began making my way close to it again, taking soft steps so that I wouldn't attract any attention. I pressed my ear against a slit between the wooden pieces that made up the cabin.

"Нет...вы уверены?" A lady's voice said. No...are you sure?

"Да...я не люблю это, но мы должны," a man's voice sounded. Yes...I do not like it, but we have to. "Мы не имеют достаточно денег, и зимой идет вверх. Мы хотим, чтобы лучше для него право?" We do not have enough money and winter is coming up. We want the best for him right?

"Да. Таким образом, мы дать его прочь, чтобы семьи, которая финансово стабильным?" Yeah. So we give him away to a family that is more financially stable?

"Да, это лучше всего сделать, для него, чтобы иметь жизнь, мы хотим, чтобы у него." Yes, it's the best thing to do for him to have the life we want him to have.

There was a pause in the conversation.

"Кто будет иметь его тогда?" the lady's voice asked. Who is going to have him then?

"Мы можем дать ему мой босс, Солдатов. Он и его жена всегда хочет ребенка. Они будут заботиться о нем." We can give him to my boss, Soldatov. He and his wife's always been wanting a child. They'll take care of him.

"Хорошо. Должен ли я взять его сегодня вечером?" Okay. Should I take him in tonight?

The man sighed. "Да, мы должны. Перед нибудь плохое случится." Yes, we should. Before anything bad happens.

I turned away from the cabin, pressing my back against it; I had a horrified look on my face as a sick feeling sank down inside me. They gave me away...because they couldn't take care of me; they couldn't afford it. They wanted the best life for me...the life without struggling to get the necessities. They loved me so much that they had to let go of me so that I can have the good life. I letted out a sigh. "Вау..." Wow...

The night came around quickly and before I knew it, I was following my real mother through the vast land into the heart of my city: St. Petersburg. The scenery looked exactly the same from back in the present with the exception of some minor details: the cold night, wide roads, towering buildings, the street lights shining down...

I carefully followed my real mother, seeing that she was carrying something in front of her. 'Это должно быть мне, что она перевозит,' I thought to myself; that thought immediately creeped me out. That must be me she's carrying.

I couldn't see my mother well since she had a shawl over her head, covering her head and the sides of her face. I wondered how she looked like; I wondered how my father looked like as well. I was able to see the ends of her hair poking out from the bottom of her shawl and I saw that she had blonde hair, like me.

We then walked into the neighbourhood I live in, which had many trees and shrubs between the massive houses that made up the area.

She then halted in front of a massive, brown mansion that was surrounded with grass and trees.

My mother then began walking down the pathway toward the patio of the mansion, which was the house where I live in back in Russia; she walked up the steps and halted in front of the front door. I stopped before the steps, afraid to get near her.

I then saw her knocking on the door and waiting until the door opened.

Once the door opened, my adoptive mother, who I quickly recognized, was on the other side. My mother talked to her for a little bit, then ended up giving a basket over to her, and having the door gently closed on her. She quickly turned around and rushed down the stairs, fleeing into the night. All I could do was stare at her figure getting smaller and smaller and disappearing in the dark. So now I have been given to my adoptive parents because my real parents couldn't take care of me. So where are they now? Let's go into six months.

I walked away from the house as I pulled out the controller that controlled my time travelling; it was vital to travel through time. I punched in the code onto the small, rectangular-shaped device to go six months forward from the time I was in now.

The screen that showed the code, which was located above the virtual number pad began glowing blue. I suddenly began witnessing the scenery changing a bit: the trees grew larger, some cars parked on the side of the road left, others appeared, the leaves on the ground changed shape, and the air was now cooler with moisture in the air; it was like as if I was watching a time-lapse.

The controller made a beeping sound, notifying me that I successfully jumped six months forward. "Хорошо, давайте вернемся к кабине." Alright, let's go back to the cabin.

I walked back to the cabin, which was a long walk, but I was determined to know how my parents were around this time. I arrived at the vast land, which now had piles of snow scattered above the now browning grass. I then saw the cabin, which was more difficult to see since it was at night. But I also noticed that there were people around the house--not random people, but the police.

I felt my stomach drop. "О, нет, почему полиция здесь?" I muttered to myself. Oh no, why are the police here?

I kept my distance away from them so that they won't see me. Fortunately, I was able to hear what they were saying since they had such booming voices; they were telling what they were seeing: "Есть два человека в доме: мужчина и женщина. Они признаны погибшими." There are two people in the house: a man and a woman. They are confirmed dead.

I felt like as if I was going to be dead myself. 'Они действительно мертв? Но--' They're really dead? But--

"Они, кажется, умереть от голода и холода." They seem to die due to starvation and coldness.

I could of just collapsed right there in shock. If they didn't give me away, then I would've also been dead. They gave me away to save my life. Only if I could thank them. But I couldn't, it's too late. My real parents don't exist anymore--they're dead.

Then another thought came into my mind: The Enemy said that my parents didn't want me anymore...so he lied because they're not even around anymore! He lied, he tricked me! I felt like finding him and shooting him with Zashchitnik. Sooner or later, I'm going get him.

I looked out into the scenery of the cabin as my emotions settled down. Well, I should just go back to the present...

I pulled out my controller from my pocket and punched in the code to get back to present time. Suddenly, the screen that was showing the code and the number pad went dark, leaving me with a useless device.

"Нет, нет, нет!" I muttered to myself as I tried to revive it by pressing the power button. No, no, no! The screen showed static, flashing gray, black, and white lines; I turned it off with a frown. "Почему это не работает--?" Why is this not working--? I letted out a frustrated groan as I leaned my head back. "Как я собираюсь вернуться в настоящее если он не работает?" How am I going to get back now if it's not working?
