Something felt odd.

After saving the older woman and her son from their abuser, I felt different. I felt drawn to the woman in some way. I don't know why or how, and for someone who always knows the answer to everything it's fucking killing me.

It was like I was connected to her in a way that I hadn't felt before. It was like I was... drawn to her. I wanted to get to know her. I wanted to talk to her.

I sat back down on a rooftop, my best friend Elias Cooper, also known as Cardinal, sat beside me. "What's wrong, Tim?" Elias asked.

"I don't know, I just feel strange. I feel like I'm connected to that woman," I replied.

"It's probably just your hero instinct kicking in. I mean you did just save her and her son," Elias said.

"Maybe," I said, "But it feels more than that."

Elias looked at me, perplexed. "What do you mean? What kind of connection?"

"I don't know," I replied. "It's like I'm drawn to her. I know it sounds weird, but I just feel like I need to talk to her."

Elias nodded in understanding. "Well, I guess you'll just have to go and find out then, won't you?"

"Yeah I guess so. I'll see you back at the cave later on," I spoke before grabbing my grapple and took off.

I landed a few yards away from where I saw her last. As I got closer I saw that the police were gone, along with the ambulance. I could feel my heart racing and my hands become sweaty as I approached the door. I took a deep breath and summoned my courage.

I can't do this, I can't ruin her life with mine. 

But, just as I turned around to walk away the door opened.
