"Well... thanks for the help with that... thing, Anqia." I reply.

"How.. how did you do that?" Mid asks, mustering the courage to speak.

Vespi was seated between the two, as for Mid's comfort.

"Well, Im a Water Echo. We manipulate our element, especially in the water body we live in." Anqia explained.

"So... what will happen when we get out this book?" I ask. "Will you have no control over any source of protection?"

Anqia looked towards the water, as our boat moved on, thanks to her abilities over this sea.

"Well... Im not too sure." She admits. "I'll just have to find another water body to link to."

"So.. you'll be vulnerable out there?" I widened my eyes.

"To be honest... its worth the risk." Anqia said, nervously clasping her water fingers. "Water Echos long to find their own water bodies. In this ocean... there's barely any space. We... we kill each other over the freshest bits of water."

"I don't want to spend eternity fighting over this... I want to find a place to settle... somewhere peaceful." Anqia added softly.

"Then I hope you find the perfect place beyond this book." I smile.

"But... I'm really worried about you. Out there... you could if you don't find a water source soon." I admit. "Anything could get you out there."

"I would have died here anyway." Anqia sighed.

Then an idea popped into my head.

"Vespi, once we get out of this book... promise me... promise me you'll follow Anqia?" I face the now stunned Bat Wolf.

Mid gasped. "But... Uniqua! You love Vespi!"

"But Anqia needs him." I reply, firm.

Though it broke my heart, I knew it was for the best.

"Promise me, Vespi. That you'll protect her... watch over her?" I stare into the beast's white pupils, trembling in disbelief of my words.

He stared at me for a moment, before relenting, seeing the sense in my words.

He nodded solemnly.

He sniffed Anqia and cast me a look.
