Thickcutkit was angry by this, because he was three moons younger than Applewoodsmokedkit. She thought of which apprentice she would be. What would Baconstar assign her? Maybe she would be a baconsnatcher, they provided the bacon from the Twoleg farm, or the medicine cat's apprentice. She wanted to be a baconsnatcher for her whole life.
       Baconstar flung his body onto the Baconledge. "Let all cats old enough to participate as a baconsnatcher gather beneath the Baconledge for a clan meeting!" he called. Honeysmokedclaw and Baconburgerface herded cats to the leader, and Baconcrispnose took Applewoodsmokedkit to the Baconledge. Baconstar looked at her. "Now I can't remember the words to use for apprentice ceremonies, so I'm going to wing it. Applewoodsmokedkit, you are now six moons old. Your mentor will be Homesmokedfur, and I hope you make a great swag cat. Your name will now be Applewoodsmokedpaw. Touch noses with Homesmokedfur. Meeting dismissed," said Baconstar. Applewoodsmokedkit stared at the leader in shock. Me? Designated swag cat? No way!! She pressed her nose with Homesmokedfur's, and together they walked to the swagger training grounds.
      "Okay, Applewoodmsokedpaw, I want you to learn how to stand on your hind legs in order to dance in swag. Now first you need to build a LOT of strength on your hind legs. The best way to get your hind legs strong enough is to learn how to stand. Okay, Applewoodsmokedpaw, take you front paws off the ground," Homesmokedfur instructed. Applewoodsmokedpaw lifted her front paws. "Now lean back." Applewoodsmokedpaw leaned back and was on her hind legs. "Wonderful! Now you need to learn how to get back down," the swag cat said. "You have to sleep in the swag cat den, Applewoodsmokedpaw. It's over here." Homesmokedfur pointed with his tail towards a den next to the leader's den. Applewoodsmokedpaw sighed and padded to the den while Homesmokedfur looked sadly on.
