That very night there was a breach in the city, the corrupted got in and tore the place inside out killing everyone in their path. The city had hit a emergency lockdown, causing everyone to panic. No one was able to get in or out, not even the officials put here to regulate rules. The epidemic, the moment it thought us something...your never safe in a world gone to hell, you only survive long enough to watch it repeat itself.

Rachael p.o.v

"Hey what the hell is going on?!" The lady in front of me honked her horn, "Let's get moving, people have homes to go to!"

"Mommy?" My daughter Michelle called, "what's happening?"

"Everything's going to be fine sweetheart, just stay in your seat." My husband assured her, he looked at me. "Honey unlock the door, i'm gonna see what's going on." I unlocked the passenger door and he got out, closing the door behind him. I rolled own the window, "I'm gonna be right back okay?"

"Okay, be safe. These people aren't the friendliest when there's traffic."

"I will." He walked over towards the crowd of people flocking on the streets.

I rolled back up the window and looked back at Michelle, "Hey you want to listen to the radio til daddy comes back?" She nodded and I turned on the radio and turned through the stations, nothing but static and muffled voices came out the other end. "Hmm...weird must be a signal malfunction."

"Mommy?" I turned around and looked back at her, "Is daddy going to be okay?"

"Of course sweetheart he's just going to figure out why we're stuck here and he'll come right back." I gave her a smile though in the back of my mind I was worried about David. "Now why don't we play a game like eye spy."

She cracked a smile, "Okay, you first."

"Hmm..." I looked around. "Okay I spy...something...green."

"Mommy that's easy, it's the air freshener tree."

"Nope, try again."

She sighed and took another loom around, "Is it the...trees?"

"Yup you got it!" I laughed, "Your next."

"Okay close your eyes mommy." I turned straight ahead and covered my eyes. "Umm...eye spy with my little eye something....metal."

"Metal?" I uncovered my eyes and seen a plane hovering over the crowd. The plane had a military insignia on the side of it. Suddenly it dropped something and the whole area up ahead exploded. "Oh my God...DAVID!" Immediately black smoke emerged from the explosion and came straight towards our direction. "Oh no...Michelle buckle your seatbelt!"

"But why mommy?"

"I said now Michelle!" I put the car into reverse and backed up, accidentally hitting the car behind me.

"Yo lady what the hell are you doing!?" The guy behind me yelled. "Holy..."

"Get out the way!" Everyone immediately jumped into their cars and began to turn around. I backed up til I was able to turn to the other side of the highway. I maneuvered like a mad woman, trying not to hit any of the other cars and drove full speed down the highway.

I looked out my mirror and seen the smoke drawing closer and closer. "Mommy what happened to daddy!" I couldn't answer her, how could I tell my little girl that her dad was dead? All I could do was stay strong and keep focused, that's all I could do.

"Mommy?"

The thought of a corrupted version of my husband was what kept flashing through my head, what was the government thinking? Did the bomb release that smoke or was there a breach, it would have explained the traffic.

"Mommy!"

There hasn't been a breach in months...how could this be happening. I seen the smoke before, once inhaled it turns people crazy drives them to kill, to slaughter the innocent...I never wanted to think about the madness that comes with being corrupted...the insanity...

"MOMMY!!!" I looked up and seen a man in the street.

"Oh shit!" I tried to move out the way but suddenly the car swerved and flipped through the air. For a moment I couldn't breath, I could hear Michelle's screams, distant in the background and then the car hit the pavement.

Derek p.o.v

I turned away as Abigail drew closer, to kill me. My own daughter... Suddenly I heard a shot. I looked up and seen my brother Henry. "Shit man..." He looked at me, "Now come on let's go Derek we gotta get out of here now!"

"The keys." I pointed to the dresser and he rushed over, "Henry what the hell is going on, a corruption incident hasn't happened for months."

"The whole city has gone to hell little brother, there was a breach and now the government is keeping us from leaving the city." He grabbed the key and started to unlock the chains.

"What?"

"They don't want to take chances, the city is on lockdown. Targeted for extermination." The chains unlocked and I stood up.

"Fuck..." I shook my head in disbelief, it's crazy how the world can't let you rest in peace without causing a problem to keep you running.

"Why wasn't she tied up like you?" I looked at Abigail who was bleeding out on the floor.

"That doesn't matter..." I looked away and walked towards the door. Henry grabbed my arm and stared me in my eyes.

"Of course it fucking matters Derek, you could of died. Look I know that was your little girl and all but you cant keep thinking everything is going to be okay because it's not. That's just now how the world works anymore."

I pulled my hand away, "If this is about Laura you can keep your got damn advice. Its over..." I walked out.

Henry looked back at Abigail, "Shit..." He followed after me and we got into my car in the garage.

"So where the hell are we going?"

Henry pulled out a map to the city, "There." He pointed to a factory. "My friend Travis has a-"

"Got damn it Henry you still working for that damn rat after he stole all our money and freaking conned us out of a month worth of rations?!"

"Look Derek he's cool now, we made a deal awhile back and now He owes me."

"And you expect him to pay you back, just like that. How can you trust anything he says?"

"I just know these things Derek, look if you don't trust him, atleast trust me."

"Trust you?" I looked away and wiped my face, "Okay fine, what's he got at the factory?"

"Inside there's a old bomb shelter that the workers used to use in case of an emergency, probably the only one in the entire city. You get us there, we survive the government's extermination and then with help of Travis we can find a way to get the hell out of this city."

"And you really think he'll let us in?"

"Trust me brother, have I ever steered you wrong?"

"Yes." I turned the key and started up the car.

"Hey I did save your life back there you know."

"Yeah whatever." I drove out into the street and followed the map towards the direction of the factory.

Rachel p.o.v

My ears felt like they were ringing as I opened my eyes slowly. At first everything seemed blurry but suddenly everything cleared up and sounds became clear. I heard beeping and looked around. "MIchelle!" I looked around, "Michelle!" 

"Mommy!" 

"Oh my god, Michelle are you okay?"

"My head and leg hurts..."

"Everything's going to be okay sweet heart, now can you reach your seatbelt?" 

"yeah..." 

"Okay now unbuckle your seatbelt but mack sure you put your hands straight in front of you when you do." I heard the seatbelt retract and a crash. "You okay?" My seatbelt retracted and I fell foward. 

"Mommy?"

"I'm okay, come here sweetie." She crawled into my arms. "Okay..." I started kicking the door til finally it swung open. "You first, once your out wait for me." 

"Okay..." She crawled towards the door and got out. "MOMMY!"

I crawled out as fast as I could and looked in the direction Michelle was, "Oh my god....." I was lost for words, "Michelle we have to run! WE HAVE TO RUN NOW!" I picked her up and made a run for it.

Derek p.o.v

"What the hell..."

"Why did you stop?"

I opened the car door and got out, "Do you see that."

Henry got out the car, "Holy heaven...." 

I looked out to see a city in ruins, burning in flames as the government hovered over. I seen chaos and falling buildings that were once homes and safe haven's for people. I seen peace get trampled over as people became consumed with darkness but that wasn't what scared me the most...and at that moment I knew we were at war, and humanity was losing. I seen death...
