I arrived back from school later than everyone else due to the detention I got myself in Maths and Mike did not look happy to see me when I walked through the door.

"Detention all week. What were you thinking." Mike scolds me.

"I was thinking that my teacher was being out of order."

"Teagen that's enough."

"You don't even care do you Mike, she could have said anything but she'll always be right because she's a teacher."

"Well would you like to explain what was so out of order." He questions.

"She started of moaning cause I only did half the homework and she said it was easy. What if I had found that really hard Mike? That kills kids self esteem." I argued.

"Did you find the homework hard?"

"No but that's not the point. What gives her the right to say that anyway, of course she thinks it's easy she is a fully qualified Maths teacher. Then when I told about yesterday she called me a liar and I wasn't standing for that."

"What happened yesterday?" Mike asks clearly not hearing about what happened on the night shift.

"Well Gus was really ill so Gina had to go out to get the medicine he likes and Tracy was in charge but she let Sapphire cook and it burnt and then I had to get Gus to go to sleep cause you know what he's like with Tracy she doesn't rub his head right. it's little circles not big circles." I explain.

"So why didn't you do your homework after that?" He asks

"I had to have dinner and then I started it but only got half way through before I fell asleep at the table and Tracy told me to go to bed."

"Right and your teacher gave you a weeks detention for one piece of homework."

"Well I might have got a bit angry and told her she needed to apologise but I think that's fair since Johnny backed me up and she knew she was wrong."

"You should have just let it go Teagen."

"But that's not fair, if It had been the other way round you would all be forcing me to apologise to her." I argue and I can see by Mikes face that he know I am right.

"Look just go and help Gina with dinner and try to stay out of trouble." Mike says stressing the last part.

I went into the kitchen and started to help Gina she was only making spaghetti bolognese so there wasn't much to help with but I did wash up a few plates that had been left in the sink. Once it was ready we all sat down to dinner and then I made a beeline for my bedroom.

"Tracy." I called a little while later as she walked past.

"Yes Teagen." She said coming into my room.

"I gathered you didn't tell Mike about yesterday."

"I didn't think he need to know, no harm was done."

"That's not what you were saying yesterday."

"Look Mike dosen't need to know I am only trying to protect Sapphire and Toby."

"No you're trying to protect yourself like you did when Tee fell out of the tree." I argue.

"We all know that that was an accident."

"Yeah but why is always when your on your own that things are dangerous." I question and she walks out.

Did I feel bad? Yes but it also needed to be said. Tracy wasn't ready to be left alone with us she always relied on us to help her out and basically do her job and it was too dangerous.
