Three years later

Mia looked for the last time in the mirror, before grabbing her purse and making her way to the living room where Nathan sat a bit stiff than  usual rubbing his hands in anticipation. " Are you sure you don't want to cancel the dinner? Did something happen back at the company?" Mia asked, worry etching her delicate features. "Oh, work is fine. It's actually really good," he said getting up grabbing her hand, entwining their fingers that still sent electricity down her spine. "In fact," he continued as she locked her apartment door and they made their way to the elevator, "I just closed the deal with the German company I've been trying so hard to approach," he smiled proudly eyes twinkling with happiness.

"The one you've been chewing my ear off for the past few weeks?" She asked a bit appalled as to why he'd not tell her that the meeting was today. She would've prepared some good luck gift or something, maybe a good breakfast, anything. "Why didn't you tell me?" She frowned.

"So you can go overboard with all your ' You are a VIP for a day' and we end up having sex because you're so cute and hot at the same time when you do that and then all I think about is you throughout the meeting and end up not paying attention." He ranted as Mia flushed. He was right. "You speak a lot for a hot CEO. Try to maintain the aura or I'll start finding you stupid." She chided teasing him and changing the topic.

"So, where are we going?" She asked in anticipation as he opened the car door for her to settle down. "It's a surprise," he said mimicking her tone which came out rather absurd for his manly voice as she stifled a laugh and they sped off. "I hate surprises," she pouted the most innocent pout and made the cutest puppy dog eyes to melt him. "I'm not falling for that," his eyes still glued to the road, a small smirk dancing on his lips as he entwined their fingers. She had succeeded in ruining his surprises on countless occasions with that irresistible face of hers and this time he couldn't afford to miss the look on her face. She would make a perfect housewife if we were in the fifties era.  He thought to himself only realising that it would be impossible to make her stay anywhere for more than twenty four hours with an exception of the hospital.

Mia was one of those workaholics who would whine and sulk on her days off from the hospital. Nathan hadn't  practically spent an entire weekend with her till now, at least not without her running off to the OT. It was now a well established fact that her sanity lasted for only a day without her work. And Nathan was now running out of options for one day hangouts and destinations for short trips. Sometimes, it weirded him out, the way she loved scurrying her hands in a living person's abdomen but he dare not insult her profession. She'd make him regret each and every syllable of it till his dying breath.

Mark had already started calling him a hen-pecked boyfriend but it didn't bother him at all because he loved every second of it.

Mia huffed settling on the view as they drove alongside the sea. It was late but the New York skyline was alive as ever. The car came to a halt, middle of nowhere. He let her out as she looked around her, a bit confused.  "That is surprising," she said looking around as he held her hand possessively yet again, not wanting to part even for a few seconds. A few moments later her mouth formed an 'o' on realising her surroundings. This was where their car stopped, on their first date eleven years ago. "It's been eleven years, exactly," her palms covered her face in ecstasy as she hugged him instantly.

He kissed her forehead. "I can't believe you remembered!" She exclaimed in his chest feeling guilty that she had forgotten about it. " It was a shear coincidence. I didn't realize till later today," he admitted sheepishly scratching the back of his head as she laughed pulling away from his embrace. "Hey, hey , hey. Why are you crying babe?" He cooed seeing her weary eyed.

"I'm just so happy. It feels too good to be true," she confessed her fears looking him in the eye. "We have had our share of crap years. Trust me, we'll be alright." He cupped her cheeks reassuringly and kissed her for the first time today. It still felt the same, if not more exciting and endearing than the first time. They pulled apart slightly breathless, " I really want to finish that date now." He kissed her forehead smiling. "After eleven years?" She teased as they walked through a forested tract.

After a few minutes, they came in a secluded area, a wooden raised hardwood platform with antique lamps on all sides. A table for two was set up under the canopy of a tree which was ornated with another string of lights. Mia's mouth hung open in awe and wonder. "This was what you planned eleven years ago?" she spoke in a small, rather lost voice.

"Yeah, exactly the same. Maybe not exactly. I didn't own this area eleven years ago and now I do." He laughed causally jamming his hands in the pockets of his suit he hadn't had the time to change since the morning. "What do you mean own?" She turned to him.

"I mean I own it. This estate is mine, I mean ours. Technically, ours. I have been planning to get a cabin constructed. But it can wait for the evening," he guided her to her chair but she was still gobsmacked. "Wait, when? How? Ours!? Have you ever watched Cabin in the Woods?" She said in a serious tone but the last sentence made him chuckle.

"A vacation spot for us." He said held her hand as a waiter came out of nowhere and started serving them wine. "Oh my fucking-" she jerked back not expecting anyone else to be there besides them. "Where'd you come from!?" She said rather fear-stricken as Nathan laughed again only to get glared at. The waiter controlled himself from laughing, apologized for the sudden intrusion and left after serving the wine. "A cabin in the woods? No no no." She shook her head violently. "Do you know how creepy that waiter was?" She argued.

"Okay, okay. How about a beach house?" He asked defeated.

"Have you watched jaws!?"

"A house by the lake?"

"Excuse me, the lake house?"  She sipped her wine as the waiter brought out their first course. She was not a fan of water bodies.

"There was nothing scary about that movie," he cocked an eyebrow in confusion.

"A time travelling mail box, no thanks." She scathed. Did Nathan ever mention that she was not fond of the idea of horror movies or fantasy or science fiction, anything besides animation, don't bother. The date went on with them eating and talking about random stuff, their jobs, current affairs, Donald Trump, their experiments with their powers and so on.

By the time the dessert came, Nathan signalled the waiter who nodded subtly and went away. How did he arrange for food in the middle of nowhere? The thought was eating her but she didn't want to ruin the date by asking all the technical aspects of preparations. They dampen the mood.

"Ask away?" Nathan sighed seeing her distracted gaze. She snickered, he knew her too well. "I can wait," she insisted pecking him from over the table. He smiled as the sky began lighting up with fireworks. She gaped getting up, Nathan following close behind. She walked a further towards the lake that was nearby their table, to get a clearer view of the night sky as her hand involuntarily clutched into his. "Aren't you a romantic!?" She practically squealed. Fireworks had always excited her.

She turned around to find him on one knee holding out a tiffany box in his one hand, the other still securely holding her hand. "Mia Elizabeth Kyle, will you make me the lucki-" he couldn't complete his sentence since she cut her off, " yes yes yes!" She screamed as he slipped the ring in her finger and she jumped into his embrace. Blue was her favorite color and he remembered. The ring showed it.

They turned to see the fireworks. They read 'Marry me'

"It's a bit late," he laughed as she just kissed him. His arms snaked around her waist pulling her so close. They kissed again, like it was the last time as the ground started shaking. Who was doing it, they didn't know neither did they care. The wind started blowing wildly as the loose soil near the lake started winding up around them like a tornado, making the spot they stood at, an isolated one.

"Are you doing that?" She asked with an ear to ear smile as they pulled apart for the thousandth time. "Not intentionally," he answered delving into an another searing kiss. This time the water of the lake burst up surrounding them in another layer, not touching them though. Their feet left the ground, "Where are we going this time?" He asked looking down to the ground.

"Beats me," she smiled as they went back to what they were doing not worrying about the consequences for the first time.

(A/n : This was the closest I could find. Just replace the lights with a whirlwind of water surrounding them while you read it.)

A/n : *cough* *cough*

Did I just not write the most romantic thing ever!!!!!?

The Big Bang Theory reference

Did you notice the Sheldon thing I just did. Wow! What if Mia was the female version of Sheldon. That'd be so weird.

What if Sheldon had superpowers like Mia ?
