Chapter 17 Trouble
Jonah was looking around at his friends. He had joined them on a little adventure. The only problem was that he had no idea where they were going, or what they were doing. He decided to ask the question that possibly could get him killed, "Hey, guys, where are we going? This better not be dangerous or harmful to anyone," he warned.
One of his friends that was in the passenger seat spoke up, "Dude, don't worry about it! Everything will be alright! No one will get hurt or anything like that. I promise. We are just going to go somewhere fun. Does it really matter where we are going exactly, and what we are doing? Don't you like surprises?"
He sighed, "Yes, but surprises that are harmless. Usually when you say "Don't worry about it" and "Don't worry about it" means that you're up to something stupid."
He did his best to look innocent, "What? No, of course not! How could you insult me in such a way like that? When did I ever do anything that involves hurting any innocent people? Do you really think that low of me to a point where you think I'm a murderer?"
"I never said that you were a murderer, and I never claimed that you have hurt anyone by killing them. What I mean when I say that you hurt others is because of how reckless you can become. You don't seem to care when someone is abused physically or emotionally. I'm surprised you haven't been arrested yet for abuse in general. If you do anything foolish this time, I'm sorry but I'm going to turn you in. There's no more need of this crap anymore."
He turned to him, "Would you really do that to your friend, Jonah?" He chuckled dementally. "I think the only one foolish here is you. You're too much of a baby to take risks in life. Trust me, what we are about to do will be historical throughout the ages of time. Everyone who will hear about this will know the true power and rage that we all have in our hearts. We shouldn't shun what is truly on the inside, and we who can become."
Jonah eyed him carefully, "Your definition of becoming who we are is most likely different than my definition. To me, it sounds like you want the "mankind" side to show from every single human being. Though, let me tell ya something, buster. You don't need to work for that, a lot of the world lets that "mortal" or "natural" side of them loose, but that doesn't mean that it's always good. The "natural" side is selfish and doesn't care what happens to anyone. To me, it seems that's the path that you are taking right now."
"The only path I'm taking is the one to victory, my friend. Whatever path you're taking, it's with us, right?" His hood covered his head from the back seat, and it was a bit difficult to see Jonah's friend. The darkness outside didn't help one bit either.
Jonah shook his head, "If it involves getting in trouble with the police, or anyone else, then no. I'm not with you. I'm going to choose my own path, not a path that involves only hatred and fear."
"That's how you get everyone else to respect you and appreciate you the most. If they fear you, you have nothing to lose."
Jonah shook his head once more, "No. If you put fear in people's hearts, you have everything to lose."
His friend went speechless, and had no idea what else to say. He just glared at Jonah, "Fine. If you aren't with us, then you are against us," he turned to their other friend that was driving the car. "Stop the car."
"But dude, we are so-" he was cut off.
"No buts! Just stop the car, you idiot! Do it or I'll stop it for you! We might as well get the traitor out of here."
"What if he calls the cops on us, dude? We could get in big trouble! We could go to jail or worse, die!" He was freaking out, and barely allowing his lungs to be refilled with air again.
The friend sitting in the passenger seat looked like he was about to burst, "Alright, alright. Calm down. We won't stop the car for him. I'm not risking jail time because of him. Keep driving, and ignore his every demands and wishes, got it?"
The driver nodded as he was still driving, "Alright. Got it. We're almost there anyway. What should we do with him once we get there?"
"Leave him here and make sure he doesn't escape, idiot! What else do you think we will let him do, come with us?"
"I mean... We can... Then we know where he is at all times."
He sighs, "I hate when you are right dude..."
"I know you do, that's why you bring me along to these things, then I can help prove you wrong, and give you good suggestions."
He rolled his eyes, "No, I bring you because you're the smartest friend that I have. The others are more of an idiot than you ever would be; though you're still an idiot to me."
"Thanks. I feel so appreciated, man. So... appreciated... That definitely makes me want to join you on our little "missions" again."
"You know, you act more like me when you are sarcastic. It's a bit freaky, but interesting."
"Thank you," he grinned and chuckled softly. "I try my best to be more sarcastic every single day of my life. I'm glad you appreciate it a lot."
"Alright. Enough chit chat. We need to focus on the task at hand. If we don't we are going to fail, and we don't want that now, do we?"
The driver shook his head, "No, of course not," he turned to his friend as if he was some psycho. "Who do you think we are, nerds?"
"No! Of course not! Nerds are for losers!" He snarled slightly. "I bet the traitor here is a nerd because he doesn't agree with what we are about to do, whether he agrees to it or not," he turned as best as he could to face Jonah, his silver, blue eyes seemed to glow in the darkness. "You're not going anywhere, Jonah. No matter what smart crap that you try on us. You're not escaping this van. You hear me?"
"How can I not hear you? You're as loud as an atomic bomb that is constantly being set off. I'll admit it right now since we are playing the game, "who can insult each other the most" right now. I personally found you both stupid and annoying. You act like you are high and mighty, yet you are nothing but uncultured swine. This isn't the age where our country is ruled, only governed. When will you allow that enter into your thick skulls?"
"When will you allow yourself to be free from the world around you? You're constantly trapped in this endless circle that will bring you nowhere, and no happiness whatsoever. There's no such thing as truly finding who you are, and who you can become until you actually do something useful in your life for once. Food for thought. You should think about that once and awhile man. Live the dream."
"I do live my dream. Not always up to the fullest; which is bad on my part, but I try my best, even if others around me don't appreciate it. Though unlike you, I don't need the approval of others to tell me what I need to do, and who I need to become. Yes, I can take advice if it helps, but I don't need to listen to everything, especially to anything that doesn't help me at all."
"Then that means you don't have to listen to anything that anyone says about you. Then that means that you can still be with us. You don't have to worry about anything while you with us. C'mon. Have some fun! We'll figure out what to do with your traitorous acts later. Right now, let's just act as if we are still friends and going to a party. How does that sound?"
Even though it sounded tempting for anyone to join in on the "fun" that Jonah's friends were suggesting for him, he didn't want to join in on the "fun" if it meant getting in trouble with the law. He shook his head, "I'm sorry, but I can't get into your guys' shenanigans. It isn't something I normally do, and plan to do anytime soon. Someone like you would probably understand."
"Yes... I would..." his friend replied slowly. "But..."
"But what?"
"It's nothing important."
"Of course it is, if you were about to bring it up," Jonah pointed out.
"You do have a point there, I'll give you that," his friend admitted.
"Then why are you using the word but if it's not important? Unless if you're making a quick decision on the spot."
He just glared in response, "I hate you."
He gave away a sly grin, "Thank you. I knew you would say such kinds words sooner or later. Never better than the present, right?"
Jonah's friend growled softly, rolling his eyes, "Whatever. You're still coming with us, whether you like it or not. You don't have a say in this matter. You hear?"
Jonah didn't show that he was listening to his "friend".
"Did you hear me?" His impatience was wearing thin, "Hey, did you hear me? I said, you're not going anywhere, buster!"
"I heard you. My choice of actually caring is very limited. You probably know that by now. Everything is just going out one here, and out the other."
"So? No matter what, you are not leaving this van until we are all finished. You understand that, don't you? Or will I have to talk to you like a little kid just to make this worse for you?"
Jonah chuckled softly, "Actually you won't have to worry about it."
He rose a brow, "And why is that?"
He opened the door as the driver still drove on the road, though they were near their destination, "It's because I'll be making my leave," he signed off by placing his fingers on his forehead, and did a solute motion as he leaped out of the car, knowing the risks if he landed wrong. This better work.
He focused all of his energy to make sure that he didn't injure himself worse than he would if he didn't even try landing decently. He held his breath as he his hands aimed straight for the ground, planting his hands and knees straight on concrete. His teeth slid back and forth slightly, but he didn't mind the pain that was crawling through his skin. He waited for a few seconds before he actually decided to get up. When he did get up, he dusted himself off and looked around. Hopefully no one saw that. He focused his vision towards the van as he was taking out his phone so he could call the cops.
"This is the Provo police. What's the emergency?"
"Hello, I would like to report a possible robbery that is about to happen. I'll give you the address for it as well since I'm near the location."
"How do you know what is happening? Are you involved?"
"No, I'm not. I found out when I was coming towards this area with some friends. Turns out they were planning something horrible. I can only assume it's a robbery, but I wasn't told what it was. Alright. I'll keep you posted."

"Where's Jonah? He was supposed to be here hours ago?" An older woman's voice replied as she stormed into where the high schoolers were. She pulled her hair back, and messed with it once and awhile. "Where can he be. He hasn't answered his phone or anything. I'm worried about him."
"Don't worry. I'm sure he's alright," the older male voice was gentle and calm, trying to calm down his wife that was next to him. "You know that he would call or text us if something was wrong. He's a responsible kid. Maybe he's stuck in traffic and can't answer the phone at the moment."
She sighed as she nodded, "That's possible, though that doesn't mean that that makes me feel any better about the situation."
He sighed as he hugged her gently, "I know, Sandy. I know. If it makes you feel better, we can see what's going on. Try calling or texting him again. If he doesn't answer, we can go out to find him, and even call the police or someone to help look for him. Whatever you prefer the most, honey."
Sandy hugged him back, "Thank you, Rick. I love you."
"I love you too, Sandy dear," Rick gave a gentle kiss on her head as he felt her head lay on his shoulder. He smiled softly down at her with a loving gaze. "You're beautiful. Have I ever told you that?"
Sandy giggled softly as she looked up at her husband, "Yes you have. Many times in fact, my love. Though I don't mind it because I love you too much to not enjoy your wondrous comments. It just means that I can compliment you back."
Rick chuckled softly, "You're right about that. Though it just means I can make you blush as much as I want, because that's one of the privileges I can do as being your husband."
Sandy giggled again, "That goes the same for me. I'm just glad that I met you. I wouldn't want to be with anybody else, no matter what happens, or any guy that tries to impress me. I will always run to your arms for eternity."
"This goes for the same for you, my love," Rick grinned as they softly kissed each other's lips. When they released, Rick smiled at his wife, "Let's make sure our son is alright."
Sandy grinned, "Sounds good. We'll tell the kids to make sure they don't worry as well. You know how they are sometimes."
Rick nodded in agreement, "Yeah," he teased her playfully. "They get that from you mostly."
Sandy laughed, "You're not wrong about that," she smiled as she slipped her feet inside her shoes. "Alright. I'm ready if you are."
Ricky copied her action and nodded, "Ready. Let's go."

Katie, Thomas, Nick, Maggie, John, and Kara were in the family room setting up their counsel that they were going to play for one of the new video games that the siblings had recently bought. It was called "VIDEO GAME".
"So... What is this game about anyway?" Katie turned to any of the siblings, hoping that they knew the answer to her curious questions.
"I heard that it was about some sort of mystery type of game," Kara did her best to remember. "I, uh... I don't remember what it's about exactly, but that's the type of game of what I understand. It looked interesting. That's all I remember," she giggled and shrugged of unsurity.
Katie giggled as well, "That sounds like fun. I can't wait to start playing this."
"I'm totally into this game," Maggie spoke up. "I don't play video games often, but I'm excited about this one. I can't wait to play this too. Who knows, this might be the best game I've ever played so far!"
Nick gave her a teasing brow raise, "I thought you said that you didn't play video games that often?"
Maggie rolled her eyes, "I don't. Though the games I've played have been okay. Some of them weren't the best. Others sparked my interest."
"Do you have a favorite?"
"This will sound cheesy but, I really like the Lego games the best. They seem wholesome and hilarious to me. Especially the ones that don't have voice dialogue. You have to guess everything they are saying, and it makes it even funnier than it already is."
Katie giggled, "I will admit, it does make it better when there are no voices involved. I do enjoy Lego video games when I have the time playing them; which isn't often sadly. Though, hopefully this game will live up to my expectations."
"What expectations are you expecting?" Thomas turned his attention back at Katie, as well as everyone else, "If I told you guys, it might not happen," she grinned.
He chuckled, "Alright then. Whatever you say, Ka."
Out of the blue footsteps were heard crawling down the hallway.
"That doesn't sound good..." Kara spoke worriedly. "The footsteps are quick. Something must have happened to have our parents be moving quickly," when she saw her parents meeting them in the living room, Kara knew something was up. "Mom. Dad. What's going on? Is something wrong? Is everything alright?"
Sandy smiled, "Everything is fine dear. We are just going to get your brother."
"Jonah hasn't come home yet?" John asked as if he was lost in a deep forest. "He usually gets home by now, knowing how late he gets home as it is," he was met by a slap on the arm by Kara.
"Your brother is fine, John. Don't worry," Rick reassured his son. "We just haven't received any answers from him, and assume he's fine. We just want to make sure that our assumptions are correct."
"How are you going to find him if you have no idea where he is?" Kara pointed out.
"We are going to call him and text him again. If he doesn't answer in the next few minutes or so, we were thinking of calling the police to help us find him. Get some sort of search party or something to make sure he's safe."
"Are you sure you two want to go out there alone? What if you can't find him, or something bad happens to him?" Kara didn't realize how much she was currently panicking right now.
Sandy placed a gentle hand on her daughter's shoulder, "Don't worry, Kara. We can take care of ourselves. We will keep you all posted if something changes though, alright?"
She nodded as she gave her parents a hug before they were going to try to reach out to him once more, "Just be safe, alright? I don't wanna lose you two."
"Don't worry, you won't lose us. We promise," Rick smiled at his daughter. "We'll be back before you know it."
