Expect the unexpected
And you'll never feel pain;
Refuse to have expectations,
Because even on the sunniest of days, there will always be room for rain.
Cry not for the roads you didn't traverse
Don't cry because your life seems to be going in reverse.
Don't cry about the opportunities you left alone,
Because everyone is elevating and you're stuck at home.
If I know nothing, I know for a fact that when it seems like this is the end,
You'll see a shining light at that final bend.
Give up that heart that's broken,
And let that mistake pass on,
Don't let it consume you,
Don't become the devil's pawn.
Remind yourself who you are,
Not what situations make yourself to be,
Just because it's in a hurricane,
A tree doesn't forget it's a tree.
So don't cry for sights unseen,
Don't cry because life is being mean,
If you ever need a need to vent
Just for a moment to escape and let time freeze
Then so as you find your own way to juice life's lemons
And give yourself a squeeze.
