"Hey cap.. you ever wanted one night with someone to ease the tension?"
"Most definitely as of late"
"Me too"

Kenna smiled as she walked into the firehouse. She looked to Bobby. "How you feeling cap?" She asked.
"I'm good."
Kenna nodded. "Good. Did you go to that meeting?" She asked as she helped herself to a coffee.
Bobby looked to her. He nodded. "I did. My sponsor told me I should look into dating. Maybe having a girlfriend will distract from the hard stuff," he told her.
Kenna shrugged and smiled. "Well yeah. Maybe. Plus getting regular sex has gotta be all kinds of awesome too."
Bobby raised an eyebrow at her. "Aren't you getting any?" He asked as he looked to her.
Kenna grinned and shook her head. "Cap. My life is consumed by this place. When will I find the time to have sex?" She joked as she walked over to the fridge.
Bobby followed behind and saw her shirt had lifted up. He noticed a tattoo she had on her back.
Kenna stood up after getting a bottle of water from the fridge and stepped back into Bobby's chest. "Oh crap!" She mumbled as she dropped the water.
Kenna turned to him. She felt herself leaning in as did Bobby. But they both took a step back as they heard footsteps coming up the stairs.

Ellie walked up to the kitchen area and hid a smile on her face as she saw the obvious tension between Kenna and Bobby. She cleared her throat. "Not interrupting anything am I?" She asked.
"No. Just talking," Kenna said.
Bobby smiled over at his sister. "Kenna here was being clumsy."
"Uh-huh."
Ellie stood there watching for a moment as she saw the looks between the two of them. "So. How was dinner?" She asked.
"How did you?"
Ellie raised her eyebrows. "Kenna. My Kenna. It was me who sorted the reservation. Plus I text you," she told her.

So far for the 118, it was a quiet day. Kenna was sitting on the sofa reading. Ellie walked over to her and smiled. "I don't think you've seen it. But you've changed Bobby's life. He's been smiling a whole lot more since you got here."
"I didn't really do anything. I just came here," Kenna said.
"You've changed him. I know there's nothing going on with you both. But you have changed him. And he's so much happier since you got here," Ellie told her.
Kenna smiled slightly. She looked to him. "Well thanks. I'm just... I don't know. I like him. But he's my boss. So I don't think anything else can happen," she said.
"No one is asking for a full disclosure. If something did happen, you'd be able to keep it quiet for a little bit."

"Kenadee!" Buck said as he walked over to her. He pulled her close and grinned. "I'm taking you out tonight. No ifs, buts or maybes."
Kenna turned to him. "Call me Kenadee again, and your little Buck might just find itself attached to my fire escape. And I'm not going out with you. I would much rather slide down that pole naked," she said.
Buck smirked. He knew that he and Kenna had a great friendship. And he loved pushing her buttons. He saw how Bobby's grip on the frying pan had tightened. "Cap. You okay?" He asked.
"Fine."
Buck nodded. "Hey cap. Have you ever wanted one night with someone to ease the tension?" He asked.
"Most definitely as of late," Bobby told him. His gaze on Kenna. Which went unnoticed.
"Me too."

Kenna couldn't believe how easy her shift had been. They hadn't had one single call out which was rare for 118. She pulled up at her apartment building and saw Bobby. "Cap? Have we been called in?" She asked.
Bobby shook his head. He looked to her and sighed. "I just needed to see you. To say thank you properly."
Kenna smiled. "Cap. I told you. You don't have to thank me. I'm happy to help. And you already thanked me by taking me for dinner," she told him.
"I want to kiss you. But I can't. Because you're my subordinate. I'm your captain. And it's inappropriate," Bobby said.
Kenna looked to him. She smiled. "Maybe the best things start off as inappropriate. But I understand. I do really like you. But I can't let anyone think I'm sleeping with you for advantage."
"I wouldn't want to put you through that."
Kenna nodded and looked to him. "Another life?"
"For definite."
Kenna took a step towards him. He did the same. "One kiss couldn't hurt?" She asked.
Bobby shook his head. He leant in and kissed her lips. Kenna felt him pulling her against him. They pulled apart after a few moments. "Well Captain Nash. I think you're hiding your talent."
Bobby looked into her eyes. He sighed. "If only you weren't under my command," he said.
"I know. I'd happily take you inside now. But given I'm getting over almost being turned into a burrito, it's not wise. Thank you though. For... all you've done for me," Kenna told him.

A few days later, Kenna watched as Bobby ran head first into a burning building. The rest of the team had gotten as many out as possible. But the 118 couldn't tackle the flames on their own. They needed back up.
"Cap!"
Kenna made a run to go in after him but Eddie grabbed her. "No! It's too risky," he said.
"But... it's not safe!"
"Bobby knows what he's doing," Eddie told him as he held her while she fought against him.
Kenna could do nothing as she heard an explosion from within. "No! Cap!" She yelled.
Within seconds, the building had collapsed. And there was no sign of Bobby anywhere. Tears poured down Kenna's cheeks. "No," she mumbled.
Ellie walked over to Kenna and took her hand. "If I know my brother, he'll have gotten out. He wouldn't stay in there to die," she said.
Kenna blinked back tears. She saw a shadow coming from the smoke. She saw Bobby coming out with a small little girl in his arms.
Within seconds, Kenna ran over and she resisted the urge to throw herself into his arms. "I was so worried," she said.
Bobby looked into her eyes. "I'm fine."
Kenna took a step back. She sighed. "Glad to see it cap. What happened?" She asked.
"There was an explosive. I managed to get her out before it was too late," he told her.
Kenna blinked back some tears and nodded. "Okay. Go get checked out. The team were worried," she mumbled as she walked off.

Ellie stood with Eddie in the kitchen area. Things were tense with them both. Buck walked over to them. "So what do you think is going on with Kenna and Cap?" He asked.
Ellie rolled her eyes and sighed. "They're friends. Nothing could happen as Kenna would have to be moved to a different team. And Bobby won't want that."
"She almost hugged him."
"Because she's a caring person. If you remember, she hugged Chim last week when that car went into the reservoir. She hugs everyone," Ellie told them.
Buck shrugged. "Something is going on with them. I know there is."
"So what? Are you going to go around following them? I mean, that's a tad obsessive. Just let them be friends. It's not a crime. I know you want to screw Kenna but it's not gonna happen," Ellie said.
Buck blinked. "I don't wanna screw Kenna. It's fun to mess with her."
"You have a sick sense of humour Buckley."
****
Kenna had just gotten out of the shower. The door opened and Bobby walked in. "Are you okay cap?" She asked.
Bobby nodded. "That kiss. We need to forget it happened. It didn't happen. You and I can't be together."
"I know. Why are you telling me this?"
"In case you forgot. You almost... Kenna I cannot do this with you. I'm sorry," Bobby said as he turned and walked off.
Kenna stood there and sighed. She knew that she was falling for Bobby Nash. But she needed to somehow get rid of the feelings. Knowing nothing could happen.
But with tensions rising, how long would either of them be able to resist each other?
