There's something so intimate about grocery shopping with a person, especially if you're attracted to them.

The thought makes your heart flutter as you watch Jungkook help an elderly woman grab a jar of raspberry jam off the top shelf. He's wearing the plain long black shirt you tried to steal earlier with his ripped blue jeans and Timberlands.

He looks good and you have no idea why he decided to wear a beanie and cover his glorious brown hair but that's just what Jungkook likes to wear, even if it was bloody hot.

Looking at the watch on your wrist, you sigh. You've got a lot to cover in such a short time frame and Jungkook isn't making it easy with his need to continue a deep conversation on self-love that keeps distracting you from getting the right things in whatever aisle you're in.

The little old lady pats Jungkook's arm while he smiles down at the woman. You can't make out what their saying but you're assuming from the way she clutches his arm and smiles up at him that she's complimenting him for being such a nice man. They always do, if only they knew how spicy he really is or how he begged you to make out on his lap in the car in the basement car park.

There are many sides to a person, that is for sure.

Jungkook is nice.

He's kind-hearted and warm to those around him. He's private and likes to keep to himself but in those moments when he comes out of his hiding spot behind his skin, he is a furnace, radiating comfort.

But today, goddamnit, he is going to burn down buildings.

Turning the cart around, you begin putting food in the trolley and consecutively crossing them off your list.

"Babe," Jungkook calls out from behind you. "Wait for me, please."

The feeling of pride is unexplainable when you're shopping with him and when he calls you terms of endearment for everyone to hear. It makes you feel special as though you were a pair of committed individuals about to marry each other.

"What am I thinking? Jungkook, we need to be quick. It was nice of you to help that woman," you shake your head of those thoughts. Holding the almost empty trolley with Jungkook staggering behind you. "Let's not talk about the self-love talk anymore. I didn't sign up for an intervention and I'd rather have your food puns over this."

"I'm just saying Y/N, you can't love someone if you don't love yourself first," he says, leaning up and pulling at least 15 cheap bags of potato chips off the top shelf when you stop beside them. "How do you expect to have healthy relationships if you aren't healthy to yourself?"

You find it ironic as he drops an arm full of chips into the cart. Crossing the chips off your list, you sigh. "I don't understand what that even means Jungkook. What you're saying are song lyrics when in reality, it's situational. It's not a one size fits all homie, every situation is unique."

Pointing your pen to the pots of salsa on the adjacent wall, Jungkook blinks innocently at you as you grab 5 pots, putting them on the seat of the cart.

Jungkook bites his lip as he stands in front of the trolley opposite you. "What?"

Turning to him, you shrug. "If you don't love yourself, the love you can get from another person can be just enough to help you through the pain of life and self-hatred."

Crossing his arms over his chest, he snorts at you. "That's a nice way of putting it but if you don't know how to love yourself, how can you love others. It's like, if you can't take care of yourself, you aren't qualified to take care of others."

"That's BS, doctors can't look after themselves and their caring for people. Your opinion is flawed, I suggest fixing that," Maneuvering the cart out the way as a family push past, you park it next to the soft drinks before turning around to face the boy. "I personally think that people still deserve love while they are learning to love themselves. Don't you?"

Stepping close to you, he starts playing with a strand of your hair before whispering tenderly. "I do but what if they aren't capable of coping with that relationship and what if that love then becomes toxic."

Staring up into his probing brown eyes, you stammer nervously at the boy. "Then it's not really love is it?"

Putting his hands on your shoulders, he lowers his head to look into your eyes. "Even flowers grow on top of poison, Y/N. Unhealthy relationships don't always look ugly. That's why loving ourselves is really important."

"Flowers need good soil for their roots, they need a variant amount of sunlight for photosynthesis and they need water for obvious reasons. Regardless if the flowers contain poison, a lot of maintenance work is involved in keeping it healthy and alive and last time I checked, flowers don't water themselves."

Jungkook applauds your rant before boisterously laughing. "Poisonous flowers usually grow in the wild and guess who waters them? Come on, guess Y/N."

Rubbing your temples, you shake your head again. "You're going to give me an aneurysm."

"The rain Y/N, the rain!"

Rolling your eyes, you step closer to him. "Philodendron, caladium, dieffenbachia, peace lilies, snake plants and might I add, ivy. Are all toxic indoor plants and who waters those? The rain?"

Sticking your tongue out to him, you turn back to your cart. "I get your point though. One must love themselves in order to understand what a nourishing and healthy love might be. Knowing yourself and understanding how you operate is also integral in interpersonal relationships."

"Good," he smiles, massaging your shoulders as you walk. "And maybe I see a point in what you're saying too. People deserve to be loved and I guess it's up to the individual's idea of what love might be."

"Like?" Grabbing all the red cups off the shelf, you shove them into the trolley as you walk towards the rubbish bags.

"Well, I love you and I want you to be happy, even if that means I am no longer healthy for you and have to leave. I'd do it because I love you," he says taking you completely off guard, crashing straight into your back when you stop suddenly.

"What did you just say?"

"Oh," he mutters, the warmth of his breath spreading goosebumps down your back. "Is it because I said I love you?"

You don't move and neither does he. Somehow the sound of him saying he loves you, makes your body jolt in shock. You didn't think he'd say it, not now anyway.

"Oh my god, I think my heart just threw up," you admit, your heart beginning to pound against your delicate ribs. "You love me?"

Jungkook softly exhales before re-adjusting his hands from your shoulders to on your hips. "Is that a problem?"

"Um..."

Wrapping his arms around you, he drops his chin onto your shoulder. "I love you and I want you to be happy. You're my favorite human, is there something wrong with that because that's my idea of love. Wanting you to be healthy and happy, whatever that is for you."

You lean to your left so you can look at his face at a comfortable distance. "No, not at all. I just wasn't expecting you to confess yoUR FEELINGS FOR ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE UTILITY AISLE AT THE SUPERMARKET, Jungkook."

"It's perfect to me," He smirks at you before pulling you against him and peppering your face with kisses. "This is how I imagine proposing to you."

"Right next to the trash bags?"

He shakes his head. "Next to the free range eggs actually. I thought it would be an egg-cellent idea."

"Oh god, my heart ...you're going to make me vomit. We are too young for marriage," Putting your hands on your chest, you shake your head. "We are too young to even think about it. Why are you thinking about it?"

"Why not?" He pouts miserably at you before leaning into the trolley and grabbing one of the bottles of cola. "I guess you only want me for my co-ck-e cola."

Pushing his face away from yours, he detangles his arms from around your waist. "Let me grab all these rubbish bags, I may need to use one to VOMIT into it."

"Treat me like one of your trash bags, baby," Jungkook chuckles, watching you as he holds onto the cart. "Take me out."

"I'll take you out alright, like an assassin," holding up your arms, you narrow your eyes at him. "With these guns. You won't even see me coming."

Jungkook snorts. "Trust me, I'll see you come."

Your look of amusement drips into disgust as you drop your arm. "I was wondering when you'd ruin the joke with sex."

"I call it spicy humor, it's funny, come on," Reading over your list again, Jungkook watches you process it, making sure you hadn't missed anything. "Do you love yourself, Y/N?"

Looking up at him, you wink. "Do I love myself?"

Flicking your hair over your shoulder, you smile at the boy as he leisurely leans on the cart. "Hard not to when you're this great."

He finger guns at you. "That's the spirit."

"Thanks, babe," Leaning onto the opposite end of the cart, you wink at him. "What about you?"

He shrugs. "I'm getting there, I don't hate myself but I don't love myself either yet. I'm a work in progress."

"That's a good way of putting it."

"So, is that everything, boss?" he asks gingerly, trying to swallow his thoughts as you slowly make your way to the fruit and vegetable department.

He watches the way you hold the pen up to your lip as you process your internal recipe. The silence gives him the opportunity to realise to the fullest extent what has just occured. God, he's a fucking idiot, why did he do it there?!

Does she not love me? Oh god, did I say it prematurely? Did I just screw it up, I fucking did. Oh fuck. Oh god.

"You okay over there Jungkookie?" you ask, blinking at the wide-eyed boy. "You look like you're having a crisis."

"What I said before about me loving you," He watches you closely as you pick up some apples. "I was just thinking, do you not love me or something?"

You stiffen. You didn't think he'd bring it up again. "Ah, of course, I do. Why would you think I don't?"

Avoiding his eye contact, you put the apples in the cart.

"Then why can't you say it back to me?"

"Hey so, I want to get some food for the morning, something nutritious because we'll be so hungover and our bodies are temples not toilets," you rush, trying to avoid the subject. Putting a random bag of tomatoes and avocados in the cart, you rush beside him and push the trolley towards check out. "Let's talk about this later, we gotta check out."

Grabbing the side of the trolley, he pushes it against the mountain of lemons. "Y/N, the only thing we need to check out, is us.

"What?"

"Are you afraid of saying that you love me, Y/N?"

Turning to the lemons, you mouth races faster than your heart. "Maybe getting some lemons would be a good idea too because you know for tequila, everyone loves tequila," you nervously fumble for the plastic bag hanging up beside the pile, filling it up with lemons. "Hey, did you know that if you don't have lemons but a lot of oranges, an alternative to salt and lemons is cinnamon and orange slices? That could be cool, shall we get oranges too?"

Jungkook groans loudly before wrapping one arm around your waist and pulling you to his side.

It happens in slow motion the way his strong arms swoop you into his embrace. The way you have no time to clutch onto the bag as it falls between you and Jungkook and straight onto the ground. He doesn't even give them a glance as you look at all the lemons fall to the floor. "If you love me, say it."

"But the lemons?" you shriek, staring at them as they roll over his shoes.

Vice pinching your chin, he pulls your face to his. You stare into the most intense coffee colored eyes you had ever seen. "Is it that hard to say what you're feeling? Can't you be honest with me?"

Looking for an escape route, you lean up and kiss his lips. The action catches him off guard, so used to making the first move himself. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you tug on the strands poking out of his beanie as you place soft kisses on his lips.

"Lets." kiss. "Not." kiss. "Talk about this." kiss. "Here. Okay?" Kiss.

Jungkook smiles against your lips as he presses forward to kiss you back. Nothing passionate is shared between you in the middle of the supermarket. You just press cute little pecks, like how you'd imagine someone would stamp a letter confessing their feelings before pushing it into the slot of the post box, sending it far away.

His cheeks are pink when you let him go; as he lets you go. Melting away from his arms, you push the trolley out the way as he stands transfixed by what just happened.

"Come on Jungkook catch up because I love you and we got lots of work to do and I'm hungry and we should've gotten sushi before shopping. I know Yoongi is probably so pissed off right now and Hoseok is probably going through our closet right now and I'm embarrassed to think what he's already found and-

Jungkook calmly walks up to you with his heart hammering in his chest as you move your cart out the way to pick up the lemons.

"Y/N," he interrupts your nervous rant by slowly slipping his hand into your back pocket, and spinning you around to face him. You gasp as he pulls you to his chest. "Jungkook."

He cocks an eyebrow at you. "Did you really think I'd let you run away after what you just said?"

"You just did Peters move!"

"The Carvanisky guy?" Tilting his face at you, he sighs again. "Yeah, I know. You said something about how you needed a Peter in your life and why the hell do you need him when you've got me."

Your face lights up. "You remembered-

"-stop changing the subject, you said you loved me," he cuts you off. You look around at the audience Jungkook had managed to attract with his gesture. "I want to hear you say it again. For real, say it."

"Jungkook, hold on, you made me drop all the lemons and I need to pick them up," you try to pull yourself out of his hold, aware of the eyes on you both. "Stop making a scene, people are watching us."

He nods his head, letting you go. He avoids your eye contact as he drops to the floor, picking up the lemons and holding them in his jumper as a pouch.

"Jungkook," you whisper, dropping to the floor to help him. "It's not that I don't love you it's that I've never said it to anyone before."

Jungkook takes a deep breath as he inspects one of the lemons between you. "Let-mon be the first one then?"

"Crikey," Deflating, you stand up. "You're getting worse. We need to get you out of here before you say another pun."

Holding out the plastic bag for him. He silently puts the lemons in the bag one by one. You can tell he's thinking 100ml/hr in that big head of his.

"Jungkook?"

Silence.

"...Jungkook?"

He ignores you, continuing to put the lemons in the bag. "Jungkook, are you ignoring me?"

"I'm not ignoring you, I'm just processing this rejection," he whispers, flicking his hair out from his eyes. "Can you let me?"

Rolling your eyes, you toss the bag of lemons into the cart before slapping your palms on both of his cheeks and squeezing them together. "You are such a child. Of course, I love you Jungkook, how could I not?"

"W-what?" he purses his lips at you.

Shaking your head in disapproval, you kiss his stupid lips again "I love you."

The stupid grin that takes over his face is deplorable.

So easily amused.

"Who wouldn't?" he cocks his brows, suddenly happy again.

You try your best not to cringe as you turn back to the cart. "Now, can we please go back to yours? Or did you want to continue making a scene here and make out against the tomatoes."

"Kissing? Makeout? Tomatoes?"Jungkook pokes your side as he picks up a single avocado from the trolley, holding it up against his face. "I definitely avocaDO."

"Well, now I definitely avocadONT," The cringe you'd been holding back, creeps through the cracks on your face. "I knew you'd get worse, lets just go home."
