Chapter 4

"No....Japanese....captives...." The centaur stared blankly, looking around nervously. "Yeah, there have been no reports of Japanese captives, if that's what your here for, I'm sorry for disappointing you." I was lied to. Lied to.  Kiriswuga, did he know, he better not of, he didn't like to lie, he was a very straight forward man. Yojiro, he lied. H said something about Japanese captives. So far, everyone has lied to me. "Excuse me sir, what is your name? You may call me Alice, and once we're done here, we can head at once." He seemed rather concerned about that idea, but pushed it down. "Chiron, call me Chiron. Nice to formally meet Alice, as for now, let me help you out." He closed his eyes, resting his arm on my leg, when he opened his eyes, they had turned into a pretty night time sky blue, little stars scattered across them. "Sagittarius, heal this girl, so we can save this Singularity, and so we can save many others."

Blue light formed around my arm and leg, it felt weird, painful, I didn't like it, but I didn't dare object to it, he was healing me after all. Once he pulled away, I sat up, the feeling in my left arm had returned but it felt weird, I'm sure i'd be okay, just a little numb. "I will remove your cast, just work on moving your arm, we must leave as soon as possible." Yes. As much as I didn't want to leave Hektor behind, something was going on around here, and I wasn't going to just sit around and let it happen." He nodded, standing, once I was free of my cast, I stood, using his horse body to move my way around him, to my phone. Ah yes, I'd thrown it earlier in a fit of sleep exhaustion. It hadn't occurred to me that my phone was actually ringing. I bent down, looking over the screen, not cracked thank god, but there was indeed miss calls.

All of those miss calls, every single one, Kiriswuga...he had called me seven times...seven times he tried to make sure I was either okay...or to tell me about the Gate situation. "They lied...they told me he couldn't contact me...I hope hes okay...he needs to be okay, or else..." "I am sure they wouldn't hurt whoever your talking about..." I was sure they would, this was the world I lived in, a kill be killed world, and it disgusted me in every sense. "I have to get home....Chiron...I have to make sure he's okay...please...." The Centaur frowned, crossing his arms over his chest. "You said you'd help us...We need help..." I didn't know what to do, I felt like I was being held in a corner. "Fine....i'll help, but you have to get me home...please get me home....please!" "No worries, it is a promise I intend on keeping. I will get you home to your man..." Not my man, but someone that I cared about greatly.

We nodded to each other, we understood what we had to do, and we'd get out of these walls one way or another. I looked down at my phone, I have to know. While Chiron scooped the area out, I sat and typed his number in slowly, watching his contact pop up, that silly picture I managed to get of him, it made my heart warm. I smiled, bringing the phone to my ear, waiting. My face immediately dropped, shaking as I heard the chilling message. "The user your trying to reach at the moment is either dead, or dying, leave a message after the beep." No. I wouldn't take that. He wouldn't just....die....would he? He wouldn't leave her to this place alone....would he? "Chiron....I want to leave....please...." "I'm working on it, there are Green men and Trojan's everywhere..." I didn't hesitate to throw my bag over my shoulder, making sure my knife was packed safely in its sheath.

I walked over to him, a dead look in my eyes, even when my parents did that thing where they didn't want me, I never looked so dead inside. The Centaur must have caught on, he leaned down, giving me an apologetic look. "I will get you out of here, okay? Iv'e got this..." Oh, I trusted him, I just needed time to...ravel my unraveling mind. I threw myself onto his back, adjusting myself along his broad horse back. "Take me away from here. Please...it's all I want..." He nodded, his crystal eyes locking with dead green ones. Iv'e never felt so empty inside, this hurt, this...this would be the end of me wouldn't it? I didn't want to think about it, at all. Chiron didn't hesitate to take off out the door, my arms wrapped around his middle, his hooves hit hard against the bricked ground, the sound was oddly satisfying to hear. "Miss, I'm going to be honest, this might not end well, I will do my best with what the stars have shown me." "Do your best, my life is in your hands for the time being."

He nodded, quickly galloping his way through this maze of a castle. Why was this place so confusing? This wasn't how this was supposed to go, I was supposed to write my way out, I was supposed to write a way out, I was supposed to save lives....right? My job was to save lives, what were the Japanese doing then? So many questions to ask, not a single person to answer them. She'd seek out these answers even if it killed her, she just had to. "Alice, I need you to be my extra set of eyes, I'm looking for an exit I can fit through, you see something like that?" I see many exits, but one he could get out of with me undetected, not a single one. Then it hit me, detection, who cared, as long as they could get away right? "Chiron, through that stain glassed window. Crash right through it. If you get hurt, I'll clean the cuts myself, don't worry, but that's our exit!" Much like me, he didn't hesitate, charging for the glass pain window, I pressed my body against his actual human back, glass shattering everywhere. I was sure we altered everyone, but we were getting out of here.

The landing was rough, it was farther down than what I had assumed, I was sure he was hurt badly now, I did that, I misjudged the floor we were on. When his hooves hit the ground, he bucked, my body flying right off his back, but I never hit the ground. His arm held my uniform jacket tightly, I looked up at him, his crystal eyes looking me over carefully. "You aren't hurt are you? I should have gone a floor lower, but I didn't want to risk getting caught." He was asking me if I were okay, he was just so nice. "I'm fine, are you okay? You just shattered a window with your body!" He gave a swift nod, throwing back onto his back, making sure I had wrapped myself around him before he took off once more. The gate to the city was right there, it was so close, it....closing. It was closing right on us. I could tell that he was pushing himself, we were almost there, the two of us. The two of us quickly became the one of us.

The doors were closing fast, we were just maybe ten feet away, so close, we were going to catch it, I know we were. I didn't expect it. Chiron reached back, his strong arm grabbed my own, lifting me up, throwing my small frame right through the last bit of room between the doors. I had made it right on through, but he hadn't. I slowly sat up, I wasn't aware of what just happened. Why? Why did he do that? I looked back at the closed gate, I was alone once more. They were going to kill him, and there wasn't a think I could do about it. I stood, staring at this god forsaken Trojan gate, I already loathed it more than my own miserable life. I took a step towards it, raising my fist to strike it when my foot connected with an object I hadn't seen yet. I bent down, a bow, its golden hued jagged shape made me think, had Chiron thrown this too? It hurt to think about it, it hurt to much. I had already lost two people in one day, and now there was this stupid bow to haunt me.

I picked it up, it seemed much larger in the centaurs hands, yet....it fit so perfectly in mine, like it changed sizes dramatically. There were no arrows, a bow but no arrows, that doesn't help me much, and well, I took archery in high school, I had to quit, or else they'd have to file a report on me for harming others when every single time I did harm someone, it was an accident. I gripped the bow tightly, if he wanted me to have it, to save this place from rotting form the inside out, so be it. I will rewrite his fate, I will fix the wrongs of this retched place and clean it. If I had to play the hero, I was going to do it my way. I stepped away from the gate, I could hear the yelling from where I was, Chiron wouldn't be able to hold them long, and he knew I knew this. I didn't care, I wasn't losing someone else today, I refused. I looked around, scanning for something, anything to climb up, but nothing jutted out, until I saw a gated water way, a weak point for anyone with a brain like me. I wasted no time running over to it, pressing my hands over the small metal grates, I had no clue how to wedge the damn thing open.

I wasn't giving up that easily. I knelt down, pulling my knife free, sticking it between the small gap between the grate and the concrete wall of Troy. It would take all of my strength to wedge that thing apart, but it just wasn't there, I couldn't do it. The strength I needed just wasn't there, all I could muster was a small creak in the metal frame and the sound of the cracking on my blade. I immediately pulled the blade away, the crack wasn't bad, I don't know what i'd do with myself if I lost the blade or broke it. It wasn't mine to do either. I sighed, looking down at the water that flowed through the grate, it made me angry, like I couldn't help even if I wanted too. I raised my hands from the grate, my palms and part of my fingers stained red, looking back down, I was kneeling in bloody water, it wasn't like this when I got here, and it made me sick to my stomach. I couldn't do it, I can't sit here and let this happen. I grabbed the bow from the ground where it lay next to me and raised it above my head, slamming it against the grate, immediately the grate gave way, busting inward.

No way I just did that with brute force, that had to be the bow, if I get Chiron out of this alive, I'm grilling him on how this thing works. I slowly trudged through the murky bloody water, it was gross, beyond gross, it smelled awful, like multiple things had died here, and I was sure that was very much so the case. The other side didn't have a grate, so crawling through was easy, what I saw, wasn't. It took all of me not to scream out to him, to tell him to just run, find another way, follow me if you have to, even though I knew the centaur wouldn't fit. I watched in horror, spears, swords, gun fire, he was a goner, yet he still stood after every blow, blood was everywhere, how long could he possibly stall my escape? "Sir Chiron....a noble teacher as ever...but this is where you fall. You are weaponless, and even Sagittarius is looking away in shame upon you now, what have you say centaur!" I stared, Hektor, that prince, the one that wanted me so, if he dared kill him, I'd shoot him myself.

"What have I say? You dare lie to such a warrior...you dare hide her away from the truth....the teacher may lay down his weapon, for another to pick it up, someone who is good in heart, someone who seeks to make it right, someone....someone who is long gone from here...." I wish he knew how wrong he was, I did, I was right here, witnessing this...this....wrongness. I slowly stood. Even Sagittarius...Sagittarius, that was the centaur constellation. If I remembered correctly, it shoots arrows from a bow, this very bow it seemed. I gripped the bow, oh, how it fit so perfectly, I had to make this shot count, or else iv'e shown myself, killed Chiron, failed to kill the prince, and failed the weapon itself. I took a deep breath, closing my eyes, imagining the stars aligning perfectly, that was the time to strike. "So be it Centaur, this is the fate you've chosen, you've left of with your mistake, and I plan on fixing, by getting rid of the source of the problem." He drove his spear right through the Centaurs chest, bringing him down to his knees.

I wanted to scream, cry, fight, I wanted to shoot the Prince, oh badly I wanted to, but....I couldn't. The bow in my hands just shook to much, Chiron gagged and chocked, blood dripping from his mouth. "I know a Centaur has two hearts, the human one, and the horse one, how long can you survive with completely destroyed?" "Not long........you may have won this battle.......but you have lost this war......" He slowly raised his hand, a smug smile on his face. "When Sagittarius has shot its arrow........it never messes....." The Price looked up at the night sky, the Centaur's constellation had no arrow, his face paled, immediately looking down at the dying creature. "What have you done..." "Anteres.....Snipe...."

I stared, it was like a bolt of lighting, but a star, a fallen star, it tore right through the Prince's body, he fell right over, spear still stuck in the Centaur. Was he dead? I didn't care, this was my chance. I pulled back the string, an arrow appearing between my fingers, it sparkled like the stars themselves. I fired, nailing one Trojan guard in the neck, he fell, crippling himself. I ran forward, everyone seemed more worried about the prince, they didn't notice me or the Centaur. I knelt down in front of his line of sight, he wouldn't make it if he fought me. "I'm still here, I'm not leaving you, I promise!" Nothing he would say could possibly make me run from this, nothing. "Alice....I thought you ran....why..." "shhhh, this is going to hurt..." I gripped the hilt of the spear, I could already tell that he didn't want me too, that it would waste his time. "I'm not going to make it.......take the bow of Sagittarius......take it and find the Greeks.......take out the man....." The man, that didn't help me, I needed a name. "Chiron.....I need a name....Chiron.....hey....." He would never answer me ever again.

Damn it....damn it to hell, that was two people in one day! I stood, looking over at the horde of people, they hadn't noticed, more worried about the safety of there Prince. I stood, I knew that I was crying, I could feel the hot tears slip down my rather chilled skin, this wasn't the time, I needed to go and make my way somewhere, to kill some guy, that would probably reset this Singularity, if not, I was lost. I bolted for the water exit, the water was definitely stained red with blood, blood from my only friend so far, and he was dead now. It was now my mission to avenge him, make this place right, and go home. Pulling myself out of the grate, I looked around, it seemed so peaceful, but even I knew that wasn't what it seemed, this place was crashing, breaking, it just wasn't right. I stood, looking around, what seemed so beautiful, it was just a nightmare in disguise, it had thrown me for a loop, but now I had my barrings. I grabbed my bag, making sure my combat knife was secure before I started to walk, this was bound to be a long long walk, wherever I was going, I had no clue, I just followed the Sagittarius in the sky, following the way his bow pointed. Chiron would be with his constellation now.

------------------------------------------------------Hobbie Jobbie------------------------------------------------------

Its been days sense I've seen any town, city, or people, I didn't understand, where was I going? Who did I need to kill? Did this even matter now? I could go home....no, I made a promise, and I intend on keeping it, for Chiron.....for Kiriswuga....for myself. I turned my head, I heard it, the clip clop of horse hooves, it made my heart ache, but I pushed back the feeling. A large chariot pulled up next to my small frame, it made me feel short. "Well well, A lady in green...." The women sneered, though I couldn't really tell, most of her face was covered by her purple hood, making it hard to see her. Then there were the people in the chariot next to her, a man sitting in the back with blonde hair, and a man driving said chariot, his green hair spiked up, made him look like a douche. "Lady in purple...." I wasn't trying to be smug, I was just lost and confused. Then I noticed it, I missed a man, a ginger, he didn't to fit in, wearing some Victorian styled cloths.

"You mocking me girl....you...." She hovered just above the chariot now, her cloak around her body opened up, looking like bat wings, colourful circles that looked like eyes appeared on the inside of her cloak, this scared me so. "I don't want trouble, I just....I need to find someone that associated with a Centaur named Chiron, I was a friend of his. The green haired male immediately stood, raising his pike to me. "You...mage of another world, cast your wicked spell on her!" The ginger stood, throwing his book open, mage of another world, had they kidnapped him? He did have chains around his wrists and ankles. "My most humble apology wench, this wilt only gallow thee still and maybe killeth thee." Wait....no....this wasn't right, people don't talk like that here.

"First Folio!" It happened just like that. I was back home, on the base. How did I? I didn't understand. I walked around, the place was empty, not a soul in sight, as per usual. How was I home...thinking about it....I wasn't worried about it, I was home. I walked along the empty corridors, looking at the doors, looking for his. I finally came to it, slowly pushing it open, and there he was, my General, doing his paper work, though...he never did his paperwork, he must be stressed out. "Sir! I'm home! Kiriswuga!" I stepped forward, almost immediately regretting it, the harshness in his voice, it hurt. "Where have you been Private...." That wasn't even my rank...I was a Lieutenant....and...his eye's weren't amber...they were a light violet, a medical rarity that made him stand out.

"Sir....." "What did I just ask you, where have you been Private!?" He looked up from his work, he had never been like this with me, what was happening? This scared me, I shook in my spot, those amber eyes boring into my soul, reading me like a book. "I'm a Lieutenant sir...." "Don't correct me Heather!" That wasn't my name, now I knew something was up, something was very wrong here. I gulped, stepping forward, pulling my knife from my sheath. There was no way this was my General, this wasn't the man that I had grown to admire. "What do you think your doing with that, I am your Captain!" He didn't even know his own rank, this was getting awful. I raised the blade, striking him square in the chest, the blow shattering everything around me, the world itself just seemed to fade away, turning into that of a stage, my blade stuck into a human sized doll figure, dressed in General's clothing. This was some sick joke....I just wanted out.

"Thank God that wasn't me, now that iv'e fooled those folk, thee and me needeth to has't a talk about how to receiveth both me and thee home, shalt we?"
