"Why not, it isn't fair"

"I don't know why you are arguing with me on this. I said you aren't going" Legolas was starting to get frustrated with Daeran. He wanted to join the troops and go to the border. "Daeran it's too dangerous"

"I can protect myself"

"Not well enough, please just stay here I'll be back soon"

"When can I go then?"

"Until I say you're ready."

"But-"

"Please Daeran, I care about you I don't wish to bring back your body"

With those words Daeran paused "I won't die and if something happens then you'll be there to protect me."

"Daeran-"

"Prince Legolas we must be going" a guard called.

Legolas kept his eyes on Daeran, not paying any mind to the guard. Daeran's safetywas more important. "Not this time" He said before he grabbed Daeran's hand and gave a light squeeze. With a small smile Legolas left Daeran in the hall.

"Ugh Alma it isn't fair how come everyone else can go but I can't?" Alma raised an eyebrow at Daeran "You don't see me complaining and you are still young. You shouldn't be worried about spiders you should be enjoying your youth. God knows that changes. And besides No one wants to see you hurt, give it a few more years."

"But I can protect myself. I have magic remember" Alma shook her head. "It isn't about whether you have magic or not. It is about seeing you safe and making sure you have more training"

"You sound just like Legolas, not letting me do anything"

"You are acting like a child."

"I was in a battle when I was a child I can handle it"

"That was an accident and you could have died" Daeran knew she was right, hell he knew Legolas was right, but he wanted to help it was in his blood.

"I know i'm sorry" Daeran said sounding sincere. Alma sighed "Enough talk of this, tell me something good." Daeran thought for a minute.

"I was thinking of going to Rivendell to see Ada, it has been a long time since I've seen the rest of them" Alma smiled "That sounds like a good idea. When will you be leaving?"

"I want to leave soon"

"When will you tell the others?"

"Probably tomorrow. Well I best be packing. I'll say goodbye to you before I leave."

Daeran left the kitchen and made his way towards his room. He put together a quick travel bag and made his way towards his friends room.

He knocked once before entering. "Daeran you know I love you, but what brings you to my room?" Daeran rolled his eyes at Ruith's comment.

"I love you too, now I'm heading back to Rivendell in the morning you want to accompany me?" Ruith smiled "I would love to. I haven't been in so long" Daeran smiled "well you better pack.

We'll be leaving first thing in the morning." Ruith went over to his dresser and started pulling out a few outfits. "So when are you going to tell Legolas you're leaving" Daeran blushed.

He might have told his best friend about his little crush. "I'll mention it at dinner tonight."

"You know he won't want you to leave" Daeran rolled his eyes. "We'll be back before he knows it"

Ruith shrugged "It still won't matter"

"Stop Ruith"

Ruith smiled at his friend. "I can't help it"

That night at dinner Daeran sat eating his dinner when he thought now was the perfect time to mention his departure in the morning.

"Thranduil sir, I will be leaving in the morning to go to Rivendell. It has been a long time since I have seen Ada and my siblings" Thranduil looked towards me not saying anything at first. "Will you be going with anyone it is dangerous to travel alone"

"Yes sir I have asked Ruith to accompany me" Thranduil nodded "Very well. I can not keep you here" Daeran inclined his head in thanks. Daeran looked towards where legolas was sitting. The elf was giving him a strange look.

As Daeran was leaving dinner he heard light footsteps behind him. Looking over his shoulder he saw Legolas coming up to him. Daeran stopped and let legolas catch up to him.

"You know I don't like it when you leave" He said matter of factly. "You know I could accompany you." Daeran shook his head "No you need to stay here and help with the spider problem and besides Ruith is going with me as you know. You should not worry"

"You know I can not help it"

Daeran smiled "I appreciate your concern, I really do, but please let me do this." Legolas shook his head "You know I could not keep you from leaving. I will see you off tomorrow. Good night"

Legolas took Daeran's hand and kissed the back of it gently before turning around and leaving. Daeran's face was on fire and he couldn't help the smile that appeared on his face. He was on cloud nine all the way to his room.

It was early the next morning and the sun was just beginning to rise. Daeran, Ruith, Alma and Legolas were standing near the front entrance. Daeran gave both Alma and Legolas a tight hug before grabbing his bag and placing it on his horse.

Alma went over to speak with Ruith while Legolas went over to Daeran. Legolas took the reigns as Daeran mounted his white stallion Ayred. "Be safe Daeran.

I will be expecting word when you arrive so I know you have made it ok" Daeran nodded his head. "I will" Legolas handed Daeran the reigns. Daeran said one last goodbye before the two friends made their way out of sight.

By the time they reached Rivendell it was night time. The moon was making the buildings shine. Daeran was awestruck every time he he entered the beautiful valley. It would never get old.

Daeran smiled when he noticed Lord Elrond standing on the steps near the entrance. Before the horse was even at a complete stop Daeran jumped off and ran towards the lord.

"Ada it's so good to see you" he said as he jumped and wrapped his arms around his neck. Lord Elrond have a small chuckle "It's good to see you too Daeran. You as well Ruith" Ruith inclined his head. "My Lord"
"It's late and you have had a long journey, why don't you both head to bed I'll see that the horses are well taken care of."

"Thank you Ada, for everything. I'll see you in the morning." Daeran kisses Lord Elrond on the cheek and made his way towards where is room was. It was lye and he was exhausted. He would see his brothers and sister tomorrow.

Daeran was awoken the next morning to movement all around him. "Wake up little brother" Daeran sat up fast in bed. Elladan and Elohir were jumping on his bed. Elladan keeled down and hugged Daeran tightly followed by Elohir. "I missed you both so much."

"And we missed you, more than anything." The sound of someone walking towards them made Daeran turn his head. His sister Arwen made her way towards his bed.

"Arwen" Daeran exclaimed letting go of the twins to hug her. "How was the journey. Nothing bad happened did it?" Daeran's siblings were very protective of him always making sure he was ok and always sending letters.

"No everything was smooth sailing since we left." "yes, I saw Ruith in the hall earlier." Arwen said. "How long are you planning on staying?" Daeran shrugged his shoulders. "I'm not sure yet"

"Well come on now get up. We have a lot to catch up on" Daeran nodded his head. Once his siblings had left Daeran exited his warm bed and grabbed his clothes.

Once decent he left his room heading towards the meal hall for breakfast. "Daeran it's been a while" Voron said coming up behind him. Voron was another one of Daeran's friends, but they weren't as close as he was with Ruith. He worked primarily in the forges fashioning beautiful weapons. Voron was tall like all elves he had grace about him. He had golden brown hair and a strong face. Voron had helped teach Daeran about the art of weaponry when he was younger. Even though Daeran spent most his time in Mirkwood. Voron and he had remained close and Daeran would always consider him a friend.

"Voron it's so good to see you. How have you been?" Voron shrugged his shoulders. "Not much has happened since the last time I saw you" The two exchanged light talk as the made their way down the hall. "You'll have to show me how your skills have improved since you were away."
"Id like that" Daeran replied

"How is Elmyra doing?" Voron gave Daeran a bright smile. Voron was currently courting hos longtime sweetheart Elmyra. Daeran didnt know her well, but he had only heard good things. It was nice to hear his friend talk of love. It wasn't always a topic on Voron's lips. The two had been courting for about three and a half years now.

Courting could take no less to a year and as long as ten years. Voron was currently telling Daeran of what he had missed while he was away when suddenly Daeran stopped. "I almost forgot I have to send a letter to legolas. I was supposed to do it when I arrived, but I completely forgot." With those last words Daeran ran towards a small owlery. Voron smiled after him. Knowing not to interrupt his friend when it came to Legolas.

Daeran quickly wrote down a message.

Dear Legolas, I'm sorry it has taken me long to write, but I did not get to Rivendell until late last night. I was so happy to be home and a little tired from the journey I went straight to bed. I had no troubles on the way getting here, so stop worrying. I don't know how long I'll be staying. I'll write you when I'm coming back.

Daeran picked a pure white snowy owl. One of his favorites. He attached the letter to her leg and sent her off. He watched her until she was out of sight, then left to finally get some breakfast.

Daeran's siblings and friends were already waiting for him when he arrived. "What took you so long?" Elladan asked. "Nothing I just had to do something"

"He went to send a letter to Legolas since he didn't come with Daeran this time. He must be jealous" Voron said. Daeran blushed but didn't deny it. Elohir and Elladan both snickered.

"Why don't you come riding with me Daeran we can talk and catch up" Arwen asked in a gentle tone. "That would be wonderful" Daeran said. He was happy he could finally spend some time alone with Arwen.

She was always patient with him and always listened to him. Never criticizing, but always trying to understand where he was coming from. That's what he loved about her.

"Alright then after breakfast then?"
"That would be great"
"Hey we wanted to spend time with him" The twins both complained. Arwen smiled "Ladies first" The twins pouted "Fine we'll just have to kidnap him later."

"Well that was amazing. I will be around if you need me for anything" Ruith said to Daeran. Daeran nodded his head as Ruith left. "Where is ada do you know?" Daeran asked his siblings.

"He seemed to be very busy with something." Arwen Started but was interrupted by Elladan. "Yes, something has been stirring lately. It's gotten ada a busy."

"In Mirkwood there have been spiders appearing. Now more so than ever. It's why Legolas could not accompany me like usual he had to stay and deal with it. Also Thranduil has been looking rather worried about something."

"Yes, you can feel it" Elohir "Something evil lurks in the shadows and is now ready to strike."
