Chapter 3

Arwen

No POV

Daeran and Arwen mounted their horses and made their way, galloping through the fields and forest not having a care in the world.

They rode for up to an hour before stopping near a small stream. They both dismounted and walked their horses over to drink.

"So tell me Arwen what has been going on since we last spoke?" Arwen thought for a while before finally making up her mind. "I've met someone" She said in a small voice. Daeran smiled

"Really, why didn't you tell me sooner? When did you meet him?" "I wanted to tell you in person, not through a letter. And we have been seeing each other for about eight months now."

Daeran's jaw dropped. "That long. Tell me what is he like?" Arwen's cheeks got a little pink. "He is the perfect gentleman. He is kind and sweet and he is like no one I have ever met before."

"Does he live in Rivendell" Daeran asked. Arwen Paused "He is not an elf" "Oh, than what-" "He is a human" A look of shock passed over daeran's face, but it was quickly gone. "Does ada know?" Arwen nodded "Yes"

"What did he think"

"I'm not sure to be honest" Daeran nodded his head in understanding it was hard to read ada most of the time. "What's his name?"

"Rolik, but he goes by Strider especially to strangers."

"What does he do"

"You do know your interrogating me right"

"What, I have to make sure this guy is good for you." Arwen smiled "He's a Ranger." There was a slight pause. "Cool" Arwen Laughed "That's all you can say 'cool'."

"I have to meet him first before I can truly judge" Arwen looked down "I'm not sure when you will be able to meet him. He is currently out doing his ranger duties. I'm not sure when he will return or if he will. The job can be very dangerous."

"Oh, I'm so sorry" "Don't worry about it Daeran, come on let's go"

It was late when the two finally arrived back in Rivendell. "You two arrived just in time. Dinner's almost ready and you both missed lunch." Ruith said walking towards them. "Thank you Ruth" Arwen said as the two dismounted and took their horses to the stables.

.................

A week had passed and things had been normal. Daeran and the twins had been pulling pranks most days. Ruith and Voron could be seen sparring with two other elves Keryth and Fair most of the time. Elmyra, would usually watch with Arwen and a few others.

Daeran would spend nights with Lord Elrond listening to stories of old. He had heard any countless times but he never let down the opportunity to hear them again. Daeran also wanted to know what was happening in Rivendell when he was not around. He thought it important to keep up with what was going on. This was his fathers home and he felt proud to be apart of it.

Things were going well and Daeran couldn't have been happier. That was until Lord Elrond called him into his study one morning.

"You called for me ada" Lord elrond looked to his son from his window "Yes I did" I have gotten word that there will be some travelers on the way there. I need you to go out and meet them, make sure they arrive safely ."

"yes ada may I enquire who I should be looking for?" "Four halfling and a human man"

"Halflings?"

"Yes, now I want you to leave a soon as possible. I suggest you head West" Daeran nodded his head then left the room quickly. He went by his own room to grad some supplies. He packed lightly, not wanting to weigh himself down. When he reached the stables he he found a horse already tacked and ready for him. Daeran mounted his sword and bow gave hom comfort as he made is way out of Rivendale.

Daeran rode through the forest full speed. It took him a day at most until he saw torches through the forest. He dismounted his horse and unsheathed his sword.

There was a man kneeling down in the brush. He seemed to be looking for something. Silently Daeran placed his sword on the man's neck. "Who are you?" The man froze and looked up to him.

"My name is Rolik and may I ask who's sword is at my neck." Daeran immediately removed the sword this was the man Arwen had spoke of. "My name is Prince Tithdaeran, I have come to escort you safely to Rivendell." The man looked surprised he was about to say something when a halfling appeared.

"I've found it sir" Rolik went over to the Halfling and took the plant. He took pieces and place them in his mouth. Rolik moved quickley and Daeran noticed the Halfling on the ground. He was hurt and hurt bad.

"What happened?" The man did not stop what he was doing and replied "He was stabbed by a Morgul blade" "I will take him to Rivendell he needs healing more than what I can give" Roliki nodded and picked up the Halfling.

"What is his name" "Frodo" Daeran lead the man to his horse and mounted. "I'm sure you know the way. Im sorry i can't be more helpful." Rolik nodded. " Its Frodo that needs more help than us." As Daeran was turning his horse around he whispered a silent spell. One for protection. He might have to leave but he would not leave them unprotected.

What daeran wondered though was what this all this about? No one had told him anything and he had not heard anything going around. What made these Halflings so special. Daeran left as fast as he could.

He would have to travel fast to get Frodo to Rivendell where he could be healed. He wasn't sounding good. He would moan and whine whenever the terrain became bumpy. Daeran felt for him. He wanted to go slower to ease the journey, but Daeran knew that speed was key. Not long into his trip the could hear the sound of approaching horses.

A dark feeling came over him. Daeran turned his head when he noticed Black riders approaching him and fast. He pushed his horse to go faster, but the riders were gaining on him.

As Daeran was approaching the Ford of Bruinen a plan started forming. Daeran brough frodo's body closer to his own as their speed increased. So lost in thought Daeran didn't notice the tree branches in front of his face. There was a slight pain as the branch grazed his cheek, but he couldn't deal with it now.

The river, he had to get across the river. Soon the it was in his sights and he quickly made his way through it. When Daeran was on the other side he turned his horse around to face the oncoming horseman. They moved quickly, so he had to think fast.

The riders stopped near the edge of the river. A loud screeching sound was unleashed from them. Daeran almost brought his hands up to his ears, but refrained. Daeran could feel his magic start to surface. It poured out of him in waves.

The Black riders weren't crossing however which wouldn't work. They hesitated almost afraid. "Good they should be afraid" So Daeran decided to goat them on. He took out his sword and held it in the air. "If you want him, come and claim him" That seemed to work. For the riders were now coming towards him.

Daeran called upon his magic mixing both wizard and elvish. Daeran closed his eyes concentrating on what he wanted to do. Suddenly a huge wave of water appeared from the river. But it wasn't just water.

The waves started to form into horses, wolves and a huge eagles. The stampede of water rushed towards the riders making them screech louder as they tried to get back onto dry land. However it was too late the water knocked the riders and their horses down stream.
Daeran let out the breath he disnt realize he was holding.
He sheathed his sword when he heard Frodo starts to moan in pain. "It'll be alright Frodo" Daeran pushed his horse harder than he ever had. He would have to reward him when they got back. It was few hours before they got to Rivendell.

Frodo's condition had worsened. Daeran quickly took him to the Halls of Healing where Lord Elrond was quickly called. Daeran decided not to stay. He didn't want to get in the way. Daeran knew his father would do all he could to save the halfling.

Once his ada had arrived Daeran went back to where he had left his horse where he saw someone already tending to him. "That won't be necessary I will tend to him" The elf bowed then left.

Daeran untacked his horse then lead him towards water. He left the horse their to get him some apples and other sweet fruit. "You did good today boy" Daeran said as he fed his horse.

It was while he was tending to his horse that a snowy white owl landed next to him. Daeran smiled and went over to the animal. "Hey girl" Daeran said grabbing a treat, giving it to her while he removed the note attached to her leg.

Dearan I hope all is well. I have missed you, so has Alma she won't stop bothering me. It has been quiet without out you here. I hope to hear from you soon.

With love Legolas

Daeran's heart almost melted. He loved it when he received letters from Legolas they were short, but sweet. Daeran looked down at the owl next to him and sent her off.

He would let her rest for a few days or use a different owl. Once Daeran had put his horse in his stable he had his way towards the Halls of healing to see what was going on.

He didn't knock, he just entered knowing it would only be a distraction. Lord Elrond was still healing the boy. His ada looked exhausted.

Daeran might know magic but he was not really good with healing. He wished he could help, but he knew it would only cause trouble. Arwen came in not long after and went over to Lord Elrond's side.

Arwen was exceptional at healing just like Lord Elrond. Working together Daeran knew Frodo would be fine. "What happened?" Daeran turned and saw the twins walking towards him.

Elladan gasped "Daeran your cheek" Oh yeah he forgot about that. The twins led Daeran over to a cot and helped to clean his wound and face. "So are you going to tell us what happened?" Elohir asked.

"Ada sent me out to meet some people and accompany them here. But when I found them Frodo, was hurt and I had to bring him back quickly.

I got this" He said indicating his cheek "When I was being chased by black riders. I was able to get rid of them and made my way here. The others should be here soon. I might go back out." The twins nodded "As long as you're ok"

"I'm just worried about Frodo. I know with ada and Arwen working on him he'll be ok, but I can't help but worry" "It's because you care" Arwen said coming over to him.

Lord Elrond had left the room already. "Was he the only one you were to bring here?" Daeran looked towards Arwen "No there were four Halfling in total. There was also a man, Rolik" Arwen's eyes grew.

"I was to bring them all here."
