Chapter 7
Boromir
Daeran POV
We were in Lothlorien now under the protection of the elves. So much had happened leading us to where we are now.
Flashback
We ran out of the Chamber top speed. Orcs were quick on pursuit and it didn't look like we would make it there were just so many of them. We were quickly surrounded on all sides. Everyone moved into a circle surrounding the Hobbits as best they could. I had drawn my dagger and was prepared to fight to the death. However that never happened. A sudden light illuminated the end of the hall casting the shadow of a monstrous beast. We had to make it out and fast. We followed behind Boromir who was in the front. I stayed with the Hobbits for much of that time. If one of them stumbled I quickly pulled them up. We made our way down the stairs the room was open and one could easily fall. As we descended we noticed a gap in between the stairs. Legolas easily jumped and helped people over. I jumped over with Merry when it was my turn. I looked back Rolik, Sam and Frodo still had to jump. Suddenly a chunk of rock fell on the stairs causing the gap between us to widen. Estel threw Sam over to Legolas who caught him easily. Then the more chunks of rock started falling from the ceiling above us breaking of the stairs behind Rolik and Frodo making the part they were on unsteady. I was going to use my magic to get them over, but they were able to lean the rock forwards and join the rest of us. We made our way to the bridge, it was thin but easily accessible. When everyone was across I turned around and noticed Gandalf facing away from the rest of us. He was standing in the center of the bridge facing the Balrog. He was huge with large horns on his head. His body was radiating heat and fire. He was definitely a sight to behold. Gandalf confronts the monster and used his staff to form shield. As the Balrog stepped onto the bridge it started to break causing the creature to go down with it. Gandalf turned back to us and I let out a sigh, but it was short lived. The Barlog's whip came up and wrapped around Gandalf's leg sending him into the abyss. I remember screaming Gandalf's name and trying to run to the bridge to help him, but someone was holding me back. I didn't know who it was, but I didn't care. The moment we made it out into the sunlight I dropped to my knees sobbing.
The rest of the journey after that was a daze. I followed behind everyone Legolas and Frodo constantly by my sides. It wasn't until we had reached Lothlorien that I started to clear my head.
Pippin POV
I looked over where Dearan was sitting. I knew everyone was upset about Gandalf's death, but the elf seemed to be taking it the worse.
"Is he going to be ok?" I asked no one in particular. Legolas look over at me "Daeran has known Gandalf since he was just a small child. His death is not doing good for anyone"
I nodded my head I had known Gandalf for a long time as well, but only when he came to the shire. I also was not as old as Daeran.
I saw Legolas make his way over to Daeran and sit next to him. They were honestly so cute together.
Daeran Pov
I sat underneath a tree thinking about all that had happened. I heard someone walk my way, but I didn't look to see who it was.
Someone Sat beside me, but I didn't look over. I fingered my necklace as my thoughts ran free and untamed.
I glanced over my shoulder and viewed the group everyone seemed to be settling down. Many had washed up and were laying in their designated spots.
I looked down at my own clothes and noticed I was still dirty. I probably should wash up I thought to myself. "I'm going to wash up" I said to legolas sitting next to me.
I stood up, but he made no move to do the same and I frowned. "Will you come with me?" I asked. I noticed his eyes widen at my question.
He obviously wasn't expecting it. I held out my hand for him to take. He paused for a second before taking it.
"Are you sure you want me to come" I nodded my head and grabbed some clothes they have me and a towel. I took Legolas's hand again and we made our way towards a small river.
I dropped his hand along with the clothes and towel and made my way near the shore. I started to strip out of my clothes, dumping the on the ground.
I looked over to where Legolas was, his back was to me giving me privacy. I smiled making my way into the like warm water.
Once I was neck deep I spoke up. "You can turn around if you want" Legolas shook his head "I think it best I give you privacy"
I rolled my eyes. "And I think it best you face me when I'm talking to you." Legolas slowly turned around facing me a smile on his face.
His eyes scanned my face still uncertain. "Can you pass me that bottle" Legolas picked up the bottle and threw it to me which I caught easily. I poured the liquid in my hand throwing the bottle back.
When I was done rinsing my hair I stayed in longer enjoying the water. I washed my body quickly and made my way to the shore.
Legolas didn't turn around just eyeing me predatorily. I reached down and grabbed the towel wrapping it around my waist.
It was then that I heard someone walking towards us. Legolas stepped in front of me as Boromir came down with his own things.
Before he made it to us I quickly got dressed. Boromir nodded to the both of us as we walked passed each other.
Legolas and I made our way back and sat down. I grabbed a brush and started on my hair when the brush was taken away.
Soft hands ran through my hair running the brush through delicately but with a purpose.
"Thank you" I said kissing Legolas on the cheek before relaxing more. "Of course I'm glad to help" he said.
Soon my eyes started to drift closed and I could feel sleep taking over. When the soft brushes stopped I opened my eyes. I moved to my bed area and layed down, Legolas close next to me.
Rolik POV
The next morning I woke up early. Most of the company was still asleep. The only person I noticed gone was Legolas.
I rolled up my bedroll and started to pack up everything. I made my way around taking in the sights before it was time to leave.
I wanted to have this peace and forget about the rest of the world for just a little bit longer.
"You should be resting, you have a long journey ahead" I turned and faced Galadriel.
"Lady" She smiled at me. "I was awake and decided to look around and enjoy what little peace I have left before we leave."
Lady Galadriel smiled at me, but nothing else. After a few seconds she spoke up. " The quest stands upon the edge of a knife, Stray but a little and you will fail to the ruin of all."
I listened intently to what she said her words holding much meaning. "Yet hope remains while the company is true do not let your heart be troubled."
I nodded to her not understanding her warning, but I would be wary. "Thank You my Lady" She nodded her head and turned away as I did the same.
When I reached the the company Legolas, Gimli and Boromir where awake and packing their things. "Was wondering where you went off to" Gimli said.
"I walked around, it is very lovely here" Gimli snorted obviously not agreeing. Legolas made a comment which had the two bickering back and forth with each other.
The noise must have woken everyone else since I noticed them starting to move. Sam moved from where he was and made to get ready.
I made my way over to the others and gently woke them. "Time to get up" The rest of the Hobbits awoke along with Daeran.
When everyone was done and ready we made our way towards the river. Lady Galadriel and and a few others gathered around to see us off.
There were three boats waiting for us. Legolas, Sam and Pippin were in the first boat. Rolik, Boromir and Gimli in the second with Merry and Frodo sat in my own.
Before leaving I had said a goodbye to Lady Galadriel thanking her for all she had done for us.
She had smiled at me and given me words of wisdom in my departure. I also noticed her speaking with Frodo at one point in time.
We journeyed down the river silently. It was quite peaceful watching the scenery go by.
There was little to no talking even Merry and Pippin remain stoick. It broke my heart to see them that way.
Two lively people brought down. I rowed for the entire journey until Rolik deemed us to stop and keep moving on foot.
I remember looking over my shoulder a few times something dark seemed to be moving and fast. I didn't want to stay here for too long.
I noticed Legolas saying something similar to Rolik, but Rolik would not listen. I sighed and looked around and noticed Frodo and Boromir gone.
Alarmed I made my way into the woods following them. When I came upon them they were both gathering wood. I made my way over to Frodo
"Are you alright?" I asked. Frodo looked up to me then back at Boromir "Yes." Was all he said before turning his back again.
I was about to say something else when I heard something close by. "Is something wrong?" Boromir asked and I could feel the others eyes on me.
"Something draws closer we must go" The two dropped what sticks they had and started to follow when the creatures attacked.
I unsheathed my dagger and stabbed the closest one in the chest. Boromir had drawn his sword and was swinging fast.
The two of us made our way to Frodo making a circle around him. "What about the others?" Frodo asked.
Boromir swung his sword while grabbing for the horn at his side.
"Don't they'll all be drawn near" I yelled, but it was to late. The sound echoed around us letting the others know we were in danger.
I heard some shouts nearby and saw Merry and Pippin both with swords throwing rocks.
I used my magic to blast the closest near us away. I kept stabbing as many Uruk-hai as I could.
I wish I had a different weapon. The dagger was not the best now and I didn't want to use too much magic at once.
I used spells to cut of the creatures heads and others I would set on fire. I could hear the others coming to our rescue, but along with them more Uruk-hai arrived.
I saw Rolik and Gimli running into the fray. Rolik sword out and sweaty. I could tell they had been fighting for a while.
I cut down another creature when I heard the sound of an arrow. Thunk. I turned to see who was hit.
Boromir was on his knees, the arrow in his chest. That didn't stop him through his rose to his feet swinging his word and bringing down the Uruk-hai.
I swung my dagger again making my way towards him to help, but I was cut off and my attention was to the creature in front of me.
Now I was angry I had to get to Boromir. I wasn't a big fan of him, but I couldn't let him die, not after Gandalf.
I heard the string of a bow and I wanted to cry out. Another arrow. How he was still alive I don't know.
I could hear Merry and Pippin yelling picking up their swords and running into the fight. I looked over Boromir had three arrows in him.
He was sitting there, but he was alive. I thought I could heal him with one, but with three there was nothing that could be done.
I saw Merry and Pippin being picked up and dragged through the group of Uruk-hai as they started to leave. I cut through the ones near me and ran for Boromir.
The Uruk-hai with the bow was about to fire the killing blow when Rolik beat me to it. Cutting of the creatures head.
Boromir was against a tree breathing heavily. The Hobbits were gone Merry and Pippin taken while Sam and Frodo had left on their own.
I didn't want to overhear what Rolik and Boromir were saying. That was between the two of them.
I could feel a single tear slide down my cheek when Boromir took his last breath.
I felt arms wrap around my shoulders and I just wanted to break down, but I couldn't we had to leave.
"What do we do now Rolik?" I asked looking towards the man. "We should go after Frodo and Sam" Gimli put in, but Estel shook his head.
"No Merry and Pippin are in more danger we shall go after them. Frodo and Sam are better off on their own."
Everyone seemed to agree, so we made our way back towards where our camp was and gathered our things. Once everything was gathered we were on our way.
