Unsent Notes
Bound by guilt and longing for freedom,
The possibility of a second meeting
was as low as the ocean compared to mountains.
Still, hope of seeing again was present like a speck of dust.
Guilt clawed at the minds wall.
The silent sentence to a sleepless night was enough punishment.
She fed the stabs and scratches with undelivered notes.
Trying to appease the pang that banged against her chest.
It ceased, but left its shadow in its wake.
They clouded her mind with thoughts and unresolved regrets.
Leaving 'would haves' and 'should haves' at every corner.
Apologies flowed onto the paper like an avalanche.
But it was all wasted ink.
The sheet was going nowhere but to the middle of a book.
To be forgotten and stumbled upon at an odd time.
It wasn't the first, neither was it going to be the last.
For the piles of unsent notes kept increasing and fading with years.
