She couldn't shake off the feeling.
It wasn't just her brain playing mind games.
She saw it from her peripheral vision,
But at the same time, it was just a blank space.

She felt a presence,
But she was convinced it wasn't real.
She was paranoid about being alone,
But all she needed to do, was to be brave.

She didn't believe in the stories.
They were just screen plays and rumors.
She deemed it impossible for them to be true,
But still, she couldn't help imagining the scenarios playing out.

She never slept without the lights.
It was the second way she could feel safe at night.
The lamps were always at the right.
And the blanket and a Bible held tight.

It wasn't just the night alone.
Even the day had its own part.
She thought she saw figures pass like a flash of lightening,
But whenever she searched, the places remained still as they were.

With each day that passed,
The feeling of being watched became stronger.
She couldn't walk in the night without feeling eyes on her.
Or stay alone in a room during the day, without leaving the doors ajar.

She felt her life drift into a horror movie.
One without ghosts and blood,
Or creepy monsters jumping out of bushes.
But a horror where the unknown remained unknown.

She was being watched and she felt it.
But still had rising doubts.
For all she knew, it could just be the wind making her hairs to stand.
Or the after effect of nights of horror movies.
