Chapter Two
Pain.
Pain is what I was feeling that night.
Pain is what I am still feeling now.
I looked at my little sister, Megan. We were at the park, everything was supposed to be fine. Nothing bad was supposed to happen, if only I knew.
If only I knew what was going to happen I wouldn't have brought her to the park that day.
I woke up shaking as I felt warm tears falling down my face. Megan. I shook my head at the thought than headed for my bathroom with some clothes to change into for the day after I took my shower.
When I was done with my shower I changed into my outfit for the day. I decided to wear a black lace top, black leggings, and my black converse high tops. I than dried off my hair and brushed through it a few good times until I was satisfied with my brown hair being smooth at last.
I was about to leave but than I remembered the makeup.
Crap.
I went to the bathroom and got out my makeup. It took me a few good minutes to decide but when I did, I got it out and applied my pink lipstick because red on me doesn't match my skin tone, at least the red I have anyway. I than applied my black mascara and eyeliner and I was soon ready to go so I rushed out my door feeling a chilling breeze wash over me as I began my walk to school.
As soon as I stepped foot into the school building after my morning exercise is what I like to call it, which took me about ten minutes to get from my house to the school, I was greeted by Jane.
"What's up hot stuff," she said wiggling her eyebrows. I tried to suppress a laugh but God knows I couldn't. "What's with you?" I asked questionably.
Jane just shrugged her shoulders, "I guess I'm in a good mood. Or something like that." She said trying to hide her blush which I immediately reacted too.
"Ohmygod you didn't," I squealed but she just gave me a confused look giving me the cue to explain, I sighed out before continuing. "I know that look Jane, it's a boy isn't it?" She started to blush a little more.
Jackpot.
"Tell me, which boy is it," I asked and she shook her head and pointed subtlety over to Tanner, also known as the heartbreaker.
I shook my head in response and dragged her by the hand over to the women's restroom. "Honey no, Tanner really? You can do so much better."
She nodded but didn't seem fully convinced. "Yeah but I'm sure he's not that bad."
I shook my head once again, "you know Tanner is a player, he gets one girl wrapped around his fingers and winds up breaking their little hearts when he's done with them if you know what I mean." I said as I continued on.
"And I'm not going to let my best friend who's like a sister to me get heartbroken over some jerk face."
Jane smiled sheepishly at me and nodded, "you know I'm right," I added before she wrapped her arms around me in a warm embrace.
"I love you and you are always looking out for me and I can't thank you enough."
I smiled at her words hugging her back, "I love you too and the thought off Tanner breaking your heart breaks mine, I just don't want you to get hurt. But I will stand by your decision no matter what."
She pulled away and frowned.
"What what's wrong?" I looked at her impatiently waiting for an answer.
"Is my makeup smeared?" I shook my head letting out a loud laugh and playfully punched her shoulder. "Don't scare me like that," I sighed out.
She laughed along with me before she got serious again. "But seriously is my makeup smeared?"
I shook my head as in 'no' and soon the bell rung signaling the beginning of first hour.
"Shit, we're late." Jane said pulling my arm along with her to rush to our first hour, science.
God I hope that Mrs. Jefferson has had her coffee today or she is going to have a fit.
Jane and I slowly walked into the class not making eye contact with any of the other students staring in our direction.
"Your late but I'll let it pass now take a seat." Mrs. Jefferson said a little too cheery with it being morning and all.
Yup she had her coffee. I thought as Jane and I took our usual seats in the back as Mrs. Jefferson continued on with her lesson.
Finally the bell rung and it was time for Jane and I to go our separate ways.
I made it just in time to English and sat in the back of the room where I saw Jay waiting for me.
I smiled at him as I began to sit down in my seat, "hi." I said grinning like a dork.
Really Skylar? Really?
I shook out of my thoughts as he responded. "Hey Sky."
Sky? Wow, I didn't know we already called each other nicknames.
Shut up Skylar. I yelled at the little voice in my head that doesn't seem to want to shut up.
"Hello," I blinked a few times noticing that I was spacing out and he was trying to get my attention by waving his hand in front of me.
"Oh sorry, I guess I kinda spaced out," I laughed but my laughter was clearly laced with embarrassment, I just hoped he couldn't tell.
He laughed along with me and shook his head. "It's fine, it happens to me all the time. Anyway, can I talk to you after class?" Jay questioned as a red color creeped onto his face.
Was he blushing? Stop it Skylar focus.
I nodded right as the bell rung. After class I thought, I wonder what he is planning on telling me.
