Day 24
Vespi settles us at the shore.
Waves lap softly at the sand, like a dog whining, gently nudging to play.
A few moments later, Mid arrived.
"Are you ready?" I asked.
"Yeah.. but uh... I cant touch that water." Mid says plainly, blinking at the sea. "You know..."
I nodded.
He didn't want any fusions.
And I didn't either.
We wanted to leave behind this book of fusions afterall.
"Sure, we just need to get stuff to make a raft or something."
Vespi flicked a long bat ear and turned, his long tail bekoning us to follow.
He swung his scythe tail end and flew off along the beach.
Mid and I followed, a good distance from the water.
He howled, revealing himself to nest in a tree among clusters.
"Trees?"
Vespi stepped back, eyeing a certain tree and lunged, claws gleaming as he slashed past.
His scythe tail end cut like an axe through the bark.
The tree shivered before sliding out of place, onto its side in the sand.
Vespi stared at us, as if raising his eyes brows. You know what to do, don't you?
"Thanks Vespi." I thank the Bat Wolf, scartching beneath his chin.
I inspected the fallen tree.
The log was large, thick and long.
Perfect for a canoe for four.
"Hmm.. I need something sharp to- oh!"
I was interupted as Vespi nudged a sharpened rock into my hands.
He slapped another into Mid's.
"Well," I look at the startled Dirtman, know now inspected how sharp the rock was. "I hope you know gow to carve."
Things could have taken longer if Vespi hadn't been so helpful.
Tje Vespurtus had attacked the sides with his claws and teeth, carving into the wood, the hull and curved shape of the canoe.
He smoothened the masterpiece with his metal sharp tail.
I dug into the log, slowly chipling away at the bark, creating in it a hole.
Mid too, was hard at work, hands thrusting rock against wood, creating another hole.
As we worked, I couldn't help but beam at the scene.
We were a team.
