After fashioning a few oars, we set off.

I took a seat at the front of the kayak, while Mid was the the middle, no pun intended.

Vespi slipped back and forth the last two spaces.

Mid flinched each time water splashed upwards, shrinking as small as he could in his hole.

I sighed, paddling alone most of the time.

Vespi tried to help, flapping his wings slightly, like a sail, catching wind to propel us forward.

I was grateful for his aid.

We pushed on, cutting through the blue sea, the occasional fish flopping past.

Something stirred within the depths.

I frowned, feeling it like a bump running beneath the kayak.

"Did you feel that?" I asked.

"Y..Yes." Mid whimpered.

The boat rocketed side to side as the bump forced upwards.

We shrieked, flailing mid air before thankfully landing safely back in place.

As the log fashioned kayak settled, ripples in the water marked the figure passing through.

"What is that?" I breathed, holding my oar as a weapon.

The figure swam forward before turning around, back towards the boat.

I yelped in surprise as it slammed its hands onto the front of the boat, raising itself out of the water.

Or... raising it... above the surface?

The figure moved, its body made entirely out of water. It settled its black beady eyes on me, cocking its head to the side.

"Where are you going?" It asked, voice sweet and coming in soft waves.

"Auh... We're going to that island, find the end of the book. We're going to escape before the book closes." I explain.

"The book is closing??" The creature drew a sharp breath, unable to believe it.

"Yeah.. urm... do...do you want to come too?"

The creature hesitated, before delivering her answer. "Alright."

She slipped back in the water, making her way towards the back of the boat, climbing into the last hole, which Vespi quickly hopped out of.

"Well then... welcome to our crew then."

"Its nice to meet you."

"Whats your name? Im Uniqua. Thats Mid. And thats Vespi."

"Oh, I'm-"

"LOOK OUT!" Mid screeched.
