I open the door by about two inches only to reveal my left eye.

"What do you wa-" I say to no one, I look down to the floor. On it were a bunch of red arrows aligned leading to the stairs. I follow them. They lead me down the stairs, through the kitchen and into the living room where there is a giant red X just behind the sofa. The lights are off. I head for the switch. I flick it on and...

"SURPRISE!!!" Everyone yelled as they all jumped out of their hiding spots.

"Aaagghh!" I scream as I morph into a panther for defensive reasons (and also to hide the fear and shame from my reaction).

"Chilax, it's just us." Felix replied with slight amusement in his voice. I try to slow my breathing as I change back into my human form.

"Happy birthday!" Everyone yells a bit more cautious this time. Oh no, I totally forgot about my birthday. This isn't going to end well.

"Get out," I whisper.

"What?" Rex asks concerned. 

"GET OUT!" I yell as i turn into a cheetah and start to slash and bite at them. Everyone evacuates the room quickly as I rush up the stairs back to my room. Every year on my birthday something bad happens, I go through a yearly change. My animal instincts take over me for the night. I turn into a monster, a beast. The beast within. 

Rexes POV

I wonder what's wrong with her, I've never seen someone act so strange. Unless...

"What's wrong with Violet?" I ask innocently.

"I don't know, every year on her birthday she does this, and every year she gets more intense and hurries to her room." Slade replies shrugging it of. Right, I may know what's going on now. I think.

Violet's POV 

The pain surges down my muscles, numbing everything. It's happening! I limp to the door and lock it. No one knows about this and I plan to keep it that way. I grip my head in pain. I kneel down to the ground trying to control it. I groan in agony. This year is definitely the most painful experience I've had. I feel my bones thickening. Teeth sharpening. Claws growing longer.
