Night Rides
Long highways,
Street lights flashing as you go by.
Slow somber music ,
Mood feels just right.
A long drive to nowhere,
Just sailing down the street,
Headlights beaming,
Been a while I heard a tire screech.
The little rumble of the terrain,
It's like a baby rocking in the cradle,
Such a peaceful domain.
Who knew I was able.
Pulled over and looked up at the night sky,
Took a breath of fresh air, on the bonnet I lie.
Gusts of wind graces my face and the stars twinkle above,
Let out a sigh and just like that, I've rediscovered love.
The love of oneself, such a rare thing to find,
Who knew all I had to do was drive as far as I possibly could from my mind.
Now with a mind that's a peace,
I turned the car around and embarked on the journey back home,
On the long lonely highway, where not even dogs dared to roam.
