Chapter 28

"Oh please, please?!" Alex begged. Sun scrutinized the front of the building. Inside the windows, mannequins sported various costumes. The clothing ranged from a skimpy red devil to a conservative nun.

"I don't know... There's no point in going in there, Alex," Sun reasoned, glancing away from the abandoned shop to look at a pleading Alex.

"But Sun! We've walked what we need to today, the sun will be going down in like an hour or so! Please?" he beseeched. Sun sighed heavily crossing her arms in discontent.

"Fine. Fine! But we are out of there before-" she drifted off as Alex hooted in happiness before bolting through the front doors after she said the first fine. "Nightfall..." Sun sighed again, scrubbing her face harshly. What am I going to do with this kid? She glanced around the street looking for signs of hostiles. When all that moved was a withering newspaper that fluttered in the wind, she hesitantly moved inside after Alex. A bell chimed as she opened the door. Her footsteps echoed eerily in the shop. Costumes and props hung from the walls and laid on the many shelves. She scanned the area, not finding Alex.

"Where did he go so fast?" she muttered to herself. She slung her gun over her shoulder as she observed the items in the isle she started down. The theme was centered around princesses and fairy tales. Wands littered the floor and glitter seemed to be stuck everywhere. Brightly colored ball gowns hung in plastic bags with pictures sporting the looks of the dresses. She left the isle, turning down another one.

This isle had face paint and hats galore. Molding posters held smiling faces of children with butterflies and cat whiskers displayed on their features.

"Alex?" Sun called out, she roamed her eyes over the top hats, clown toupees, bonnets and headdresses. A crashing noise sounded from a couple isles down. Sun looked in that direction before slowly making her way out of the isle. She grabbed her gun, pointing it in the direction of the suspected hallway.

She turned quickly into the opening. She lowered her weapon, putting it back behind her shoulder as she saw the knocked over clothing bar and the skittering rump of a raccoon. She turned down the isle adjacent to that, a reminiscing smile reaching her lips as her fingers grazed over the materials. Darth Vader masks and uniforms along with Jedi ropes, blasters, a Yoda mask, a Leia wig, they honestly had it all. Sun thought back to the monthly home date nights Sebastian and her had when they snuggled up to watch Star Wars. Sun picked up one of the discarded lightsabers, flicking it downwards and letting the collapsable folds slide out and lock into place. She spun the fake, scifi weapon a few times before continuing down the row, her eyes flitting from one prop to another.

As she neared the ending of the isle, a figure jumped out from around the corner. It roared loudly, raising its hands above its head. Sun screamed, taking the lightsaber and bashing it into her assailants head.

"Ow, Sun! What the fuck! Stop!" a voice whined. Sun stepped back, her lightsaber dangling between her fingers. She took in the "bloody" hockey mask,  before scowling into the holes cut for the eyes.

"Alex! Don't do that! You scared the shit out of me! You're lucky I didn't have my gun in hand! I could have shot you!" Alex took off his mask, a smirk on his face.

"At least I would have gone out the right way!" Sun whacked him on the shoulder again with her lightsaber.

"Don't say that!" she hissed. His smile grew larger and he spun around her. She followed his movements, and Sun watched as he picked up a lightsaber behind her. He flicked his out to full length and chucked off his guns and backpack, bending his knees as he held it like a bat. Sun laughed, shrugging off her items too.

"You're an idiot," she remarked, loosening her stance and holding the weapon in front of her with two hands. They crossed sabers a few times, the plastic making chinking sounds as they clashed. Sun twirled back, swinging out her lightsaber in an attempt to hit Alex. He parried it, jabbing forward. She knocked his sword aside bringing it down vertically. He met it horizontally and he grinned at her between their crossed weapons.

"Someone's a natural," he commented, pushing on her blade, causing her to fumble and break. She rolled backwards before spring to her feet and going offensive, sending a flurry of her own attacks.

"Who's to say this is my first time?" she refuted. They turned moving down the side of the isles. When Alex realized she wasn't going to break anytime soon, he decided to do something unexpected. He pushed heavily against their next collision before stepping backwards, tucking his legs in as he jumped and spun backwards. He did a complete backflip, landing shakily on his feet.

"Since when could you do that?" Sun asked in shock, lowering her weapon. Alex smiled evilly. Taking advantage of her disarmed moment, Alex lunged forward, tackling her to the ground. He brought his arms below her head, keeping her from banging it against the tiling as they went down.

"What are you... Doing?" Sun uttered in confusion as she looked around in their new position.

"I used to be a gymnast in highschool." He winced as he recalled his landing. "It's been a while." He smirked down at the girl below him, resting his elbows on either side of her head as he leaned his jaw into one hand. "So, do I win? Do I get a victory prize?" He murmured out to her, his gaze slipping down to her lips which curled upwards slyly.

"Well, it is you're prize. Take it if you want it." A smile worked its way onto his face before he dislodged from his palm and lowered his head towards her's. Her eyes slipped close moments before their lips met in a gentle kiss, and their breaths mingled. He pulled away, and Sun opened her eyes slowly.

"That was definitely a worthy reward."
